View Full Version : Spurs sign Dice
Joe Asberry 07-08-2009, 01:22 PM Hoopsworld.com is reporting that the Spurs and Antonio McDyess have agreed to a three-year deal.
Once the Spurs ink McDyess, they will have completed a fantastic offseason after acquiring Richard Jefferson, and drafting DeJuan Blair and Jack McClinton. McDyess should start at PF, joining Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili/Michael Finley, Jefferson and Tim Duncan in the starting five. The Spurs are back.

ok, its just hoopsworld, and they suck, but its been reporpted before...i GUESS its true... i can't blame Dice, 3y/MLE is a great offer, he can start along Duncan and has a good chance to win a ship...his loyalty towards Dumars & his constant effort will be missed!
Wilfredo Ledezma 07-08-2009, 01:30 PM If he wasn't going to come to Detroit, there's no place I'd rather him be than in San Antonio.
What a hell of an offseason for RC Buford!
I imagine Dyess will start...
C- Duncan/Bonner/Mahinmi
PF- Dyess/Mahinmi/Blair
SF- Jefferson/Finley
SG- Manu/Mason
PG- Parker/Hill/McClinton
They'll probably re-sign Bowen and/or Oberto for bench fodder.
They're deeper than LA if you ask me (assuming Odom leaves).
Glenn 07-08-2009, 01:31 PM With an average age of 44.8
I've been saying that they've looked old and slow for 2+ years now, and they ain't getting any younger and faster, lol.
WTFchris 07-08-2009, 01:34 PM Still, they should have a couple years of contending with those moves. They could still use a backup center to just eat fouls.
Glenn 07-08-2009, 01:35 PM 3 years for Dice seems odd.
Maybe that's what it took, though.
Glenn 07-08-2009, 01:36 PM And I would say the same thing if Joe gave him 3 years.
And then, Kstat would disagree.
WTFchris 07-08-2009, 01:36 PM Probably player options.
Hermy 07-08-2009, 01:38 PM 3 years for Dice seems odd.

They make the 3rd year a team option with a kicker. It allows them to exceed the MLE for what is really a 2 year deal.
Joe Asberry 07-08-2009, 01:40 PM Former Piston forward Antonio McDyess has agreed to join the San Antonio Spurs. Word is he'll sign a three-year deal with two years fully guaranteed and third non-guaranteed year.
Zekyl 07-08-2009, 02:01 PM They aren't resigning Bowen. Apparently they ended on bad terms. Oberto is possible but I doubt it. They just signed McDyess and drafted Blair, who is supposed to be NBA-ready.
Zekyl 07-08-2009, 02:02 PM Joe, you might want to change your location....
Good for Dice, get that ring. Bad for Glan, be wrong less.
Glenn 07-08-2009, 03:23 PM What was I wrong about this time?

Higherwarrior 07-08-2009, 03:38 PM essentially the 3rd year means they'll be paying him to retire come year 3.
great deal for both sides. i HATE to lose dice and HATE that he couldn't win a title in detroit. he will go down as one of the greatest warriors to ever put on a pistons uniform.
one of my favorite alltime pistons...
i really hope he wins a title in san antonio.
Glenn 07-08-2009, 03:38 PM You're pretty cocky about that, Fool.
I guess we'll see.
geerussell 07-08-2009, 03:53 PM Good for Dice in as much as he's going to a quality organization. As far as getting a ring though... that window is likely closed for the spurs.
Is Dice starting? What does the Spurs depth chart at PF look like?
Joe Asberry 07-08-2009, 04:22 PM Joe, you might want to change your location....
better ^^?
Zekyl 07-08-2009, 04:34 PM Much! Hell, who needs a C?! Amirite
Glenn 07-08-2009, 05:52 PM @RicBucher
McDyess has been offered a 3yr, $15m deal by SA. Has yet to accept it, according to several sources.
Glenn 07-08-2009, 06:05 PM Done deal, just reported.

Glenn 07-08-2009, 06:06 PM McDyess, 34, will sign a two-year deal at the mid-level exception for $11.7 million. It is believed there is a partial guarantee on a third season.
Uncle Mxy 07-08-2009, 06:19 PM This just kinda depresses me as far as my team goes, though I'm happy for Dice. I'd really hoped he could've gotten a ring here.
Higherwarrior 07-08-2009, 06:22 PM me too. such is life......
Joe Asberry 07-08-2009, 06:34 PM i'm rooting for the Spurs to win the title next year...i hope they are not done ^^

I couldn't agree more with you and Fool and everyone else who has this opinion. He found a great team for him; where he can do his best in the role he likes with a coach who will know how to use him and a team that will appreciate what he brings. I've just become a huge Spurs fan.
BIG BEN'S FRO 07-08-2009, 08:43 PM Dice is a player who is literally impossible to root against. He seems to be a good person, a hard worker, a good teammate, and practices hard and plays injured. I would be thoroughly satisfied to see him win a ship and will definitely root for the Spurs against anyone except us. Those are the players who you like to see forgo the money and win.
Glenn 07-08-2009, 09:17 PM DAMN YOU ALL
Also, 3 yrs/$15m guaranteed is the WOTS
