Oh well....

At least we will get to see if he was dogging it last year of his physical skills really have gone down the shitter with injury and age.

He got mauled by some very average bigs last year. I'm curious to see if that was age or laziness.

Who's the team leader in the clubhouse, Rip? Prince?

This is the final stage in Sheed's metamorphosis into Antoine Walker.

Kstat

Sheed was never a leader to begin with. so that situation hasn't changed much.

Rip was the leader to begin with. Notice when he got pissed at Curry, the team got pissed with him.

I cant imagine with KG, Perkins, Sheed and Leon Powe that they would pay up to $9 million next year for a 5th big.

also, big baby is officially on the market. Boston would need to suffer the luxury tax to re-sign him.

he could have gone to SA or ORL and started along Duncan or Dwight, insteat he will play KGs backup...wuss

Kstat
07-05-2009, 09:36 PM
I would think he will play backup C...more minutes there and really there is no other backup C on that team with baby gone.

I hope he goes Farrah on them and becomes an anal cancer in the locker room. Hate. the. celtics. so much.

well just to be a prick, i have to point out that he's not OFFICIALLY a celtic until he signs on the dotted line on july 8th. he could still pull a hedo and jump ship!

lol- that won't happen but i'm just saying that it's not officially official. yet.

Thanks for the title.

Thanks for playing hard once in a while, too.

Since you did it so rarely I actually feel like it could have been worse.

Does this mean he will retire before July 8?

I know, but its funny how he gave an ultimatum then settled for much less.

Do you think he'll get booed when he comes back to the Palace?

I can only think of a few who have been cheered during their return on an opposing team...

* Chauncey Billups
* Sean Casey
* Craig Monroe
* Mike James
* Corliss Williamson

Ben was cheered, wasn't he?

Timone

Ben was booed heavily.

I think 'Sheed will get a decent amount of cheers. Not a standing O like Billups got, but it'll be a nice round of applause.

He'll probably get his fair share of boos too.

Fool

Well, I cheered for the motherfucker.

Timone
07-06-2009, 10:44 AM
I didn't expect him to get the kind of reaction Chauncey ended up getting, but I also wasn't expecting him to get booed every time he touched the ball either.

Big Swami

Not sure what to expect when he comes back. What's the sound of 44,152 shoulders shrugging?

Uncle Mxy
07-06-2009, 11:39 AM
The crowds will chant "ball don't lie".

Timone

It'll be a lot less frustrating watching him get techs and making an ass out of himself. :)

Usually the boo/cheer has alot to do with whether or not they were offered to come back...

Sergei Fedorov, Ben Wallace--all guys who left for money (Hossa will soon be on this list)

Dre' Bly, Shaun Rogers, Gary Sheffield--all guys who left on bad terms (Allen Iverson will be on the list)

Harrington, Darko-- Booed b/c they were busts

I think Sheed deserves to be cheered.

No one is going to boo Hossa. That's nuts. You can't boo a guy who goes elsewhere because he was here for 1 season and decided he wants 1/2 of what he's worth.

Very much cogent.

he'll get cheered. unless he says something stupid about detroit during his introductary (is that a word?) press conference in boston.

as sheed loved to say: "CTC baby! CTC!!!!" (cut the cheque!)

BTW- i'm VERY curious to see how he does on a team with KG. yes, they're friends etc etc.

but sheed hasn't been on a team with a strong outspoken personality in YEARS. KG plays with non-stop intensity and will get in the face of any teammate who 'isn't bringing it' when it's needed.

Good point, HW. It'll be fun to see how fast Boston fans and KG tire of Sheed's laziness. We could all wager some alpacas on this, no?

Higherwarrior

or maybe, just MAYBE, sheed actually brings it and plays up to his potential all the time and......LMFAO. sorry- i couldn't help but laugh at that thought.

Ben was booed cuz he left on his own. I don't think Sheed will get that treatment.

Atticus771
07-06-2009, 11:40 PM
With Ben, the average fan thought he still had a lot left in the tank, i.e. prime years. That probably was the root of all the hatred for Ben, IMO. Even the average idiot Pistons fan understands 'Sheed doesn't have much left at this point.

Vinny
07-07-2009, 12:32 AM
Also the fact that we didn't even bother pretending to offer him a contract, whereas with Ben, Joe lowballed him, full well knowing it would probably get turned down.

Black Dynamite

It's a good fit for Sheed, he needs to be on a team with a leader to push him to play worth a damn. With that said hopefully they fail along with the cavs and Magic.

Sheed will get booed for being a Celtic.
I like sheed, and even thought he still had enough value to retain because of defense. But fuck a Celtic.

MoTown

I can't boo him. He was a big reason for last year's blunder, but he also brought the Pistons a championship. For better or worse, we was the soul of the Pistons in this era.

Plus he brought us some of the best quotes in Pistons' history.

Time for an appreciation thread?

I won't boo him either. We knew what we were getting when we acquired him. Actually, I think we got more than I thought we would (I didn't think his defense was very good before getting him, but maybe that was a faulty perception of mine).

We won a title. I don't know what fans could have expected differently from him. I guess I was mad he left Horry open, but players make judgement calls all the time and you get burned sometimes. It happens. We'll never know if he was instructed to help off his man, stay on his man, etc.

We forced him out the door anyway, it's not like he chose to take less money in Boston.

Glenn
07-07-2009, 11:59 AM
Yeah, why would he need to be boo'd?

I'm glad he's gone, but hold no ill will.

It wasn't my money that he stole the past few years.
