Varejao is unresticted now, yes? Wouldn't a deal starting at 7 get him? We could team him down low with a scoring big and have that defensive edge back.

He is a faggot though.

Thoughts?

I would sign him and make him cut his hair.

And then I would try to trade him or hope that he gets hurt so we could collect the insurance.

The guy can play, but I'm having a hard time imagining pulling for him.

I think a piece of me would die inside if we signed that douchebag.

I agree, fuck that.

I posted a plan that included him and was surprised by the hate so good luck Hermy.

I think he does bring several things we need.

He's another "media blackout" dude that hasn't been linked to us...

Cue the article linking Varejao to the Pistons in 5 ...4...3...2...1

He's one of those guys that you hate when you play against him and love when he's on your team. Remember when we got Chelios and most people hated him? After a season, everyone loved him. I'm sure there are other examples like that, but I can't think of any at the moment.

Glenn

I dunno. How many people here are going to "love" seeing that guy in a Pistons uniform flop all over the floor like a fish out of water?

I think we have some pride.

Pharaoh

I could live without the flopping.

But signing him also hurts the Cavs, just like signing Gordon hurts the Bulls.

We could be thinking of that angle too when approaching certian free agents.

If he was truely great I could do it, but honestly at the end of a 5 year deal when we're giving this guy nearly 9 million to not score, rebound, or block shots all that well.....I may not dig on that.

I doubt he's anyone's first choice Hermy.

I'd love to sign Anderson Varejao - to a blanket party.

NBA players are like women. If the pussy is good, I'll put up with the bullshit. If the guy helps the team win, sign the fucker.

I'd rather have Camby for a year. Does all the same things without being annoying.

Varajao is best suited next to a great post up PF (like Chandler next to West). Unless we are getting a great post up PF we don't need his offensive liabilities.

would you rather have andy or big baby?

Baby, IMO.

We already have one big flopper on the team(Rip), don't have room for another.

Flops with ridiculous hair or tears with no hair.

Wow i never saw him as a guy who can play. He's solid rebounder and energy guy, but he isn't all that talented at all. He needs to be on a team with a superstar shot chucker he can rebound for. Also his defense imo is trash. This league won't let him get away with flails, flops, and fouls once he leaves Lebron's cot tail.

There is actually a little bit of truth to this. If you take a look at the guys that are known for their flopping, they're either stars (Manu) or star sidekicks (Sideshow Bob). You can still get away with some serious flopping, but its never as blatant if you don't fit that catagory.

i'll be happy idOKC steals him away from the Cavs. Very happy. he's the last defensive big they have.

I can't believe people would hate a player so much they'd switch their support.

If a guy can bring something to the team that is needed then get over yourself and appreciate the fact that Joe saw a weakness and tried to fix it.

I doubt we end up with Varejao - but if we did he'd help us.

And that's all that matters.

P - The type of game he plays is exactly what's wrong with the NBA. I don't want the NBA to turn into FIFA. Basketball is a game about toughness, and watching a toolbag like him pretend to get injured six times a game is what turns me away from the sport.

Glenn

We ain't getting him now.

Mo - I hate the guy as much as anyone. I wanna see fuckers stand toe to toe and eye to eye and play real basketball.

But in today's league he has a skill set that is useful. I can't deny that. He might have stupid hair, be a Euro bitch and flop around like Nemo out of water but he does what he does very well and right now our PF/C rotation could use some serious help.

If he's signed elsewhere then that's cool. I don't need to be praising this fuck

Boom.

I would ignore all notions I have on him if we won. Same thing Wings fans did with Chelios and would have with Bertuzzi.

However, how do we know Andy would help us win? He couldn't guard Howard or either F the Magic had. I think he's a solid player, but he hasn't proven to be a good defender against good teams. And he gives you almost no offense. Even if you could get him for the remaining space we have left we aren't winning with Andy and Charlie down low. He'd be great off the bench, I just don't see him as a 30 MPG player on a championship team.

I hate the guy, but it's not like I'm a fan of every player on each of my favorite teams.

I wasn't a fan of all the whining on our team the last few years, or the fact that RIP shuffles his feet and gets away with it, or Sheed being scared of the post.

So I could overlook things if it wins us titles.

Sheed's not scared of the post... he's just lazy.

Everyone is willing to overlook a ton of stuff if the team is winning.

I'm guessing most of the posters here have supported the Pistons for almost their entire lives.

During that time the organisation has rewarded that fandom with 3 titles and a ton of Conference Finals.

But that same organisation has also presented some pathetic players, coaches, teams, uniforms etc.

My conclusion: We have all overlooked a lot of things as fans and it had nothing to do with championships.

IF Joe signs a player that fixes a weakness then my opinion of the dude doesn't really matter. As long as he wears the Red, White and Blue I'll cheer him all the way to the Championship.

That doesn't mean I ignore his faults or weaknesses, it just means I have to check myself when I feel the need to smack the TV or it means I have to go have a smoke before I hit the reply button.

notice no "f" words?
