Who's gonna play the 4? Does it even matter? Crazy offseason so far WOW!!!

RegicideGreg

I assume they try to resign sideshow bob and play him at the 4.

This is going to be very annoying.

^ agreed. stern's 2 favorite players on the same team pretty much guarantees they win it all.

lebron will probably get at least 30 assists a night driving and dishing to shaq for easy dunks. hopefully shaq has a corony or something...

Shaq isn't getting any younger...

I do find it funny that he tends to play with the league's golden boy

First Kobe, then Wade, then Nash (MVP twice? LMAO) now Lebron.

Who's next - Dwight Howard?

Doubt it, since Shaq likes to trash the new Superman. Which means this spices up the Cavs/Magic rivalry, leaving us under the radar.

C'mon Joe - let's get some fucking horses this off-season and run 'em down.

So he guaranteed a title would come to Miami. Then he guaranteed a championship would come to the desert. How long until he guarantees a NBA trophy to "the Cesspool?"

Shaq fills the middle, not sure how he's any better than Z.

He can push and travel w/o whistle far more than Big Z ever could. The traveling between him and Lebron will be astronomical.

I don't know, Z set records last year for moving screen push-offs and elbows to lips in a season. Hollinger had a big writeup about it.

What's worse, moving to Cleveland or the taste of Shaq's ass?

I'll make my decision once Shaq raps about it.

Cleveland just purchased themselves a full exemption from whistles. It's not going to save them from the retarded Shaq drama that sinks every team he plays for, though. Here are my predictions:

1. Shaq helps for a while, and then it turns into a shit-flinging disaster.
2. Lebron uses this opportunity to frame his departure from Cleveland as his attempt to find an organization where he can find agreeable teammates.
3. Ben retires. He's not going to pick up and move to Phoenix now.

I have no idea what I'm talking about, so keep that in mind.

Glenn
06-25-2009, 10:23 AM
I actually think Ben might play now, I think he just wanted out of Cleveland.

Also, thinking about the 50 gazillion upcoming LeBron references to "the big fella" is making me ill.

It'll be funny as hell to see Shaq go at Mike Brown.

He's better than Ben, that's for sure. Be funny to see him come off the bench (won't happen). If he did and handled it, I'd have mad respect for him.

Glenn
06-25-2009, 11:46 AM
So 24 mins each for Shaq & Z?

I'm wondering if they would have had a better chance at retaining LeBron past this year of they had added a younger, locked up talent instead? (Josh Smith, Okafor, etc.)

Fool
06-25-2009, 11:48 AM
How could they have? You think Atl or Charlotte wants Ben and Sasha?

Glenn
06-25-2009, 11:50 AM
Poor examples on my part.

I'm struggling today.

Plucking someone from a team in financial trouble is what I meant.

How about David West?

Fool

Same question.

Glenn
06-25-2009, 11:55 AM
The assumption is that the Hornets would want Ben/Sasha for the same reason that the Suns did, to buy them out.

Glenn
06-25-2009, 12:07 PM
Since it involves Shaq, I was waiting for the Twitter angle.

Um, yes. I think Lebron would have been happier to get West than Shaq but there's no reason to assume the Cavaliers had a real chance at getting West.

Also, I think Lebron would have been happier getting Duncan than Shaq, or Gasol, or a number of other players.

Glenn
06-25-2009, 12:10 PM
Plain Dealer honks still speculating that the Cavs will go after Sheed with their MLE.

I would totally agree if the Spurs and Lakers were, like the Hornets, teams that are desperate to shed salary to get under the tax level.

I'm glad that poor examples aren't just my problem today. Thanks!

So you've been hearing the Hornets are shopping West for trash?

Share with the rumors thread. Don't hog shit.

Glenn

You are pretending to be naive, I get it.

Trying to put the burden of proof on me for something that cannot be proven is a nice move, though.

Fool

Naive about getting West for Ben and Sasha?

No I'm honestly in the dark to Perry having that kind of mind-voodoo power.

Glenn
06-25-2009, 12:25 PM
Naive that the Hornets wouldn't consider trading West for salary purposes.

We've got people here suggesting that they'll give up Chris Paul for the same reason, FCS.

Fool
06-25-2009, 12:26 PM
Not ONLY for a salary dump. That's what you are saying if you are actually saying the Cavs should have gotten West.

No one but you is suggesting the Hornets will dump their franchise players ONLY for trash. That's why I used Gasol and others. Because no one thinks those guys (on the teams they are on now) are available just for a new team to pay their salaries.

Glenn
06-25-2009, 12:31 PM
I guess we'll see how desperate the Hornets are.

WTFchris
06-25-2009, 12:40 PM
So the Cavs would look at Sheed next? Would they let sideshow walk then? They could simply go for it and worry about filling in the core next year. Probably a smart plan. They'd have about 20 mil in space to sign a couple big time players and then resign Lebron. They;d have Lebron, two good FAs, Delonte, Mo Williams and Boobie. Could be a scary team if they do it right.

Unlike the Spurs they are not done.

Glenn

Looks like Charlie V is throwing his hat in the ring.

well, twitterland like I said there will be more trades to come, very interesting, Shaq to Cleveland, nice, all Cleveland need is a PF now

Aren't they at ~50 mill next year with just Bron, Mo, West, and Gibson?

WTFchris

Bron counts 17 mil against the cap. Mo is 9, Boobie and West 4 mil each. That is 36 mil. I would assume Bron will get a raise, but he'll wait until he sees what they bring in I'm sure.

Fool
06-25-2009, 12:50 PM
Oops, I was adding a new Bron contract onto the total that counted his hold. My mistake.

Fool
06-25-2009, 12:53 PM
What is a max contract for Bron once this contract is up and he's over that 7(?) year vet threshold.

WTFchris
06-25-2009, 01:00 PM
I think it's just over 18 mil. The max salary for a 7 year player is just over 17 mil, but the max can never be less than %105 of their previous salary. I don't think he can sign for much more than 18 starting.

Glenn
06-25-2009, 01:02 PM
I actually think it's still TBD (like the cap/tax figs).

Not positive on that, though.

WTFchris
06-25-2009, 01:07 PM
Well, it's 30% of the cap, which we don't know. but I can't imagine the %30 would change much (even if the cap changes by a couple mil).

At any rate, the Cavs will have money for a top flight FA like Bosh and another solid player to put next to Lebron. They should sign Charlie V and move Boobie for a wing player.

Charlie would help with the troubles they had at PF (them being to slow to stay with Lewis). But yes, Shaq cannot guard Howard on pick and rolls. So what? If they use Shaq right they can really get Howard in foul trouble (he does that now already).
