Stallworth didn't have a criminal record and I think that the circumstances had something to do with it. Apparently the guy who was hit was chasing down a bus and was in the street with a 40 mph speed limit.

Add to that the fact that he got a lifetime license ban and two years house arrest besides the jailtime plus whatever the NFL decides to do, I think that the sentance was light but not awful.

I guess the NFL decided to lay down the law. Indefinite suspension!

"The conduct reflected in your guilty plea resulted in the tragic loss of life and was inexcusable," Goodell wrote. "While the criminal justice system has determined the legal consequences of this incident, it is my responsibility as NFL commissioner to determine the appropriate league discipline for your actions, which have caused irreparable harm to the victim and his family, your club, your fellow players and the NFL."

I'm 50/50 on this. On one hand it does seem like a friendly sentence, on the other hand he was very cooperative, remorseful, and it happened to him as much as the guy he hit.

Stallworth was drunk, and 100% wrong.

You are cutting out the grey area. The guy was running out in a busy road with a relatively high speed limit. Also Stallworth wasn't over-the-top drunk, barely over the limit.

I personally think that some of the drunk driving laws are kinda bullshit. In Michigan at the level of blood alchohol where you are considered drunk, the effects of the alchohol are minimal. I'm not saying that it's right but I would there are idiots talking on their cell phones and not paying attention who are far more dangerous on the road than someone just over the limit. Factor in that atheletes probably have better reaction time than the general publc and being just over the limit may have not been a factor in the accident. You have to look at the big picture and not just jump to conclusions.
