Gm 1: Verlander Vs. Wainwright

Gm 2: Jackson Vs. Wellemeyer

Gm 3: Porcello Vs. Pinerio

SERIES NOTES

* Pujols is a career .543 hitter vs. the Tigers (not including WS)

* All 3 games are in HD, why the first 8 games of the road trip were not, is anybody's guess

* Perhaps Rick Ankiel will give Dontrelle some tips on how to locate his pitches

* The Cardinals are struggling, going 3-7 in their last ten games

* did you know that Ryan Ludwick, who was an All-Star last year hitting .299 with 37 HR and 113 RBI was in the Tigs farm-system for the entire 2006 season? Apparently we signed him to a minor league deal and he played the full year in Toledo, put up big numbers, but was never given a call-up

* Since we got a day off yesterday and we have another one next Monday, it would be nice to see Leyland go to a 4 man rotation for the next couple weeks, but I'm not expecting much

* We've owned the Cardinals in inter-league the last 3 years--we swept them in '06 and again in '07 while taking 2/3 last year. (8-1)

* I'm sure Rod Allen will mention more than once about how close of friends Leyland/LaRussa are and how much respect they have for one another

* we get to face the best Molina

The best Molina is in San Francisco. Bengie is the better all-around player.

Don't we face a Molina in 10 % of the Tigers games?

Not good...so far anyway.

Geez...

We need a roster shake-up.

Nate & Dontrelle need to be out right released
Marcus Thames needs to be playing everyday
Dusty should get a chance to overtake Laird
Miner should be back in the rotation
DFA- Don Kelly, Dane Sardinha
Sign a recently DFA'ed reliever (Geoff Geary, Jamie Walker, Jose Veras)

Release Willis? Not agreeing there.

Miner in the rotation? Not agreeing there.

I can agree on some of the others.

I'm all for Miner in the rotation. He will not wow you with any of his stuff, but he's good enough to keep the Tigers in the game. You can't say that about Dontrelle.

Why not release Willis? There is nothing he can gain by going down in the minors since he's already showed he can pitch well down there this year.

I've been willing to give him the benefit of the doubt as much as anybody, but it's finally hit me now---he's done.

And as for Zach Miner, he's earned his chance to be the 5th starter. He was solid last year as a starter, and was better than Dontrelle earlier this year when he was a starter. The only reason he was bumped was because DD didn't want to be embarassed to have two $10mill relievers, so Miner got the bump to the pen because he makes nickles and dimes.
