So is Clayton Richard a Walmart Wolverine? He went to Michigan as a highly touted QB recruit, didn't play, and went to the Major Leagues. I don't think he graduated. So is he allowed to cheer for Michigan? And he has plenty of money to buy Michigan gear, so he probably doesn't even go to Walmart. Probably Fanatic U.

Getz is a UM guy, too.

FUCK Jermaine Dye. God, I just knew that shit was happening.

Is there a bigger Tiger killer than Dye? If he played the Tigers 162 times a year, he would probably have near 200 home runs a season.

Every time.

And add to that the home run he stole from Thames earlier in the game.

I can't remember the last time I've seen a guy do what Polanco just did. That was cool. I'm glad he got rewarded for it.

Polanco was badass in this game. He didn't even get all that much credit when he caught the overthrow from Laird on the steal. That guy would have been on third, but he caught it in the air. Fantastic play.

Agreed, and the play detroitexport was talking about was just great.

I got to watch the game because it was on WGN (I still haven't been successful in streaming Tigers games. It's killing me) and it was interesting how their announcers were talking about Polanco the same way we talk about Dye. When he hit his single in the first the Chicago color guy actually said, "of course". He actually made a big deal about that error save and then they showed the replay of that cool pitch-out swing at least five times, the entire time praising Polanco and pretty much with an attitude of "of course he would do that."

Yeah, I was sure the game was lost after Rodney. Lyon did great to extend the game and keep the team alive.

LOL @ Thome right there. Good stuff.

Too bad we won't score any runs and another Verlander outing shall be wasted.

If Leyland didn't play his D+ lineup, we might've won yesterday.

Josh Anderson- batting leadoff yesterday, has become totally useless since May 1 (OBP less than .300 and has zero power)

Ryan Raburn- I don't mind Raburn playing, but why is he batting 2nd? Santiago should've been batting 2.

Clete Thomas- Aside from his GS on Sunday, Leyland should've realized about 2 weeks ago that Clete Thomas had been woefully slumping, and how that warrants batting 3rd, is really beyond me.

But this is nothing new. We've seen these "travel day" lineups for 4 years now...

I agree with the travel day lineups theory, but I disagree that yesterday was a travel day lineup. The right players were in the lineup, but in the wrong order.

Ledezma, what would have been your lineup yesterday?

I wouldn't have sat Thames, Maggs and Polanco all on the same day...

I can understand playing Anderson & Clete since they are lefties and Gavin was a RHP, but neither of them were able to have even a remotely productive at bat yesterday...

To Gavin Floyd's credit, he always seems to own the Tigers and his curveball was exceptionally nasty yesterday, it may not have made much of a difference regardless, but you like your chances with Maggs, Thames, Polanco (or even just two of them) rather than two slumping guys like Josh & Clete batting 1st and 3rd, no less.

Ok, but name me a leadoff hitter? With Granderson's power numbers, he pretty much has to bat either 3,4, or 5. That means Anderson has to be leadoff.

If you're going to play Thames & Maggs, you wouldn't have to bat Granderson 4th or 5th.

It's more of a luxury having Granderson batting leadoff because he's more capable of creating an RBI opportunity for guys in the middle of the order, whereas Josh Anderson really doesn't (he has no power, doesn't draw walks, and can't hit the ball the other way).
