His retirement would really, really screw the cavs, who would be able to ship his enormous expiring contract next season for some more help for lebron.

"I'm going to sit down and talk with my family, weigh my options and come up with a decision," the 34-year-old Wallace said after Cleveland's 103-90 loss. "Nothing's definite, but there's a strong possibility that this was my last season."
"I think I deserve [a buyout]," Wallace said. "But if I don't get one and I've just got to give it up, that's what I'll do."

sounds like he wants out. The money doesn't seem to be as glorious as he thought in exchange for being on douchebag filled teams that alienate him..

Money fails as a motivator... he must regret his decision to leave.

Welcome back Gutz.
Big Ben can do whatever he wants - he stopped being a real player the minute he left Detroit and got PAID.
I don't know if it was the money or Father Time that got him but either way he just wasn't the same.
Here's hoping he gets a buyout and get ride someone else's coat tails to another ring.

I can't imagine taking a partial buyout for that kind of money, except in the context taking less to play for someone else.
Sad.

I doubt he wants to retire, I think he just wants out.

Let him retire then bring him in as Amir Johnson's personal trainer. Get that boy beefy so he can actually play PF.
That was not meant to be serious.

If Big Ben gets the buyout and calls Joe D asking to come back for the vets minimum, what sayeth you if you're Joe?
Strictly hypothetical, not saying it has a chance of happening.

At the vets min with an understanding that he probably won't get much playing time, I'd take him. He'd be a leader and his work ethic could potentially rub off on the younger guys. If he'd be upset and sulking about not playing very often, negative.

He used to be a leader. Not so much anymore. No way would I want him back.

How much surplus "fear the 'fro" merchandise do they have in some warehouse?
