Tahoe 05-28-2009, 09:41 PM That was pretty painful too...and pretty much seals this one. MoTown 05-29-2009, 09:51 AM Tigs better win the last three here. Scoring one run against a rookie pitcher is unacceptable. Glenn 05-29-2009, 10:17 AM Not just a rookie, but a rookie making his first start. I heard that the O's have had 4 pitchers win their ML debuts this year already. Tahoe 05-29-2009, 07:40 PM Willis' lid still loaded to the side. Tahoe 05-29-2009, 07:51 PM Whats the big deal with this rookie? Rod just said hype Tahoe 05-29-2009, 07:52 PM dude is like 14'3" Tahoe 05-29-2009, 07:52 PM And he's out, btw. Tahoe 05-29-2009, 08:03 PM Everett = someone I do not like. Jethro34 05-29-2009, 11:29 PM Maybe the Tigers should stop pitching to Luke Scott. Just a thought. Tahoe 05-30-2009, 10:00 PM Thats what the ace of the staff is supposed to do, imo, stop losing streaks. Nice win. Darth Thanatos 05-31-2009, 12:31 AM They're still pitching to Luke Scott? Shit man. Wilfredo Ledezma 05-31-2009, 08:57 AM For the record, if any of you guys ever get a chance to visit Camden Yards in Baltimore, do it. It is easily the most beautiful ballpark I've ever been to (although I only have SkyDome, Jacobs Field, Comerica, Tiger Stadium, Cinergy, PetCo, Wrigley, PNC, and Cinci's new stadium to compare it against). Wizzle 06-01-2009, 02:46 PM Freep: Aubrey Huff says Justin Verlander, Edwin Jackson are 'best back-to-back' pitchers he's seen Posted by James Schmehl | MLive.com June 01, 2009 11:21AM Tigers pitcher Edwin Jackson delivers against the Baltimore Orioles in the third inning. The Tigers won 3-0.Aubrey Huff has squared off against a slew of All-Star pitchers during his nine-year career, but no two pitchers have left the Baltimore Orioles slugger as awestruck quite like Justin Verlander and Edwin Jackson. Freep.com, June 1: The outings by Verlander and Jackson prompted Huff to say this to the Baltimore Sun after Sunday's game: "Honestly, I've played nine years, and the last two guys are probably the best back-to-back I've seen in my nine years." Huff went for a combined 1-for-6 against Verlander and Jackson this weekend, including three strikeouts. His lone hit came against Verlander in the second inning Saturday. It was the third time in less than a month Verlander and Jackson won consecutive starts. In his eight innings of two-hit pitching Sunday, Jackson's supreme moment came when cleanup hitter Huff batted with two outs in the seventh, none out and the Tigers ahead, 1-0. Huff fouled a high 98-m.p.h. fastball to make the count 1-2, then struck out when he swung at a diving slider on the next pitch. Veteran Orioles catcher Gregg Zaun said this was the at-bat where he particularly noticed how much Jackson, 25, has grown as a pitcher this season. |
