This game has been very painful to watch with all of the missed opportunities...

That was pretty painful too...and pretty much seals this one.

Tigs better win the last three here. Scoring one run against a rookie pitcher is unacceptable.

Not just a rookie, but a rookie making his first start.

I heard that the O's have had 4 pitchers win their ML debuts this year already.

Maybe the Tigers should stop pitching to Luke Scott. Just a thought.

Thats what the ace of the staff is supposed to do, imo, stop losing streaks.

Nice win.

For the record, if any of you guys ever get a chance to visit Camden Yards in Baltimore, do it.

It is easily the most beautiful ballpark I've ever been to (although I only have SkyDome, Jacobs Field, Comerica, Tiger Stadium, Cinergy, PetCo, Wrigley, PNC, and Cinci's new stadium to compare it against).

Freep: Aubrey Huff says Justin Verlander, Edwin Jackson are 'best back-to-back' pitchers he's seen
Posted by James Schmehl | MLive.com June 01, 2009 11:21AM

Tigers pitcher Edwin Jackson delivers against the Baltimore Orioles in the third inning. The Tigers won 3-0.Aubrey Huff has squared off against a slew of All-Star pitchers during his nine-year career, but no two pitchers have left the Baltimore Orioles slugger as awestruck quite like Justin Verlander and Edwin Jackson.

Freep.com, June 1: The outings by Verlander and Jackson prompted Huff to say this to the Baltimore Sun after Sunday's game:

"Honestly, I've played nine years, and the last two guys are probably the best back-to-back I've seen in my nine years."

Huff went for a combined 1-for-6 against Verlander and Jackson this weekend, including three strikeouts. His lone hit came against Verlander in the second inning Saturday. It was the third time in less than a month Verlander and Jackson won consecutive starts.

In his eight innings of two-hit pitching Sunday, Jackson's supreme moment came when cleanup hitter Huff batted with two outs in the seventh, none out and the Tigers ahead, 1-0.
Huff fouled a high 98-m.p.h. fastball to make the count 1-2, then struck out when he swung at a diving slider on the next pitch. Veteran Orioles catcher Gregg Zaun said this was the at-bat where he particularly noticed how much Jackson, 25, has grown as a pitcher this season.
