We have a big chance to distance ourselves from the Royals. I think game 2 will stand up as the 'game of the series.'

Game 1: Verlander vs. Meche (2:10)
Game 2: Jackson vs. Greinke (8:10)
Game 3: Porcello vs. Davies (2:10)

Did the rotation get off on purpose? It seems JV v Greinke would be the matchup.

Nope - Grienke is still considered their #2.

Is putting Lyon in like throwing up the white flag?

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Detroit Tigers right-hander Rick Porcello put the finishing touches on a very impressive second month in the major leagues here Wednesday afternoon.
Porcello, 20, beat the Kansas City Royals, 8-3, allowing two runs in six innings. That made him 5-0 with a 1.50 ERA and 20 strikeouts with 10 walks in 30 innings for May.
He became the first rookie pitcher in the majors to reach six wins, and is 6-3 with a 3.48 ERA after rebounding well from his April struggles.
Porcello's five straight wins are the most by a Tiger who was 20 or younger since at least 1954, when available research data becomes incomplete

They were commenting on the radio today that Porcello has many of the same mannerisms of Verlander and is even working as quick as JV. I wonder if he has taken him under his wing and is trying to be the guy that helps everyone out and make the "team" better.
