What happens before you go to college........who are you allowed to root for then? I didn't root for the school I attended once in the first 18 years of my life, but I still went to the school in order to stay close to home. What happens if you go to the Army or the Marines? Are you only allowed to cheer for them or do they get a pass because they are soldiers? What if you went to multiple schools, who do you cheer for?

This is pretty accurate, Tre. It's just that it is not limited to Michigan fans, although I do agree that most WalMart Wolverines will start yapping about Michigan academics barely two minutes into any conversation, and most of them haven't the IQ of a pile of sawdust and have never set foot on a college campus other than to clean it up on weekends. And yeah, to sit there and brag or yap about the sports teams is one thing, but to puff out your chest and whoop it up about academics and "Michigan Class" makes for the TRUE WalMart Wolverine. And there are probably more of those types of fans in Michigan's fold than any other school.

Personally, I wish academic standards at UM weren't high at all. I'm fine with them being a top University in many fields, but that doesn't really do much for me in any way.
As for their academic standards for athletes? I really have no clue what those standards are. I here about them all the time, but I can't say for a fact that kids are getting turned away all the time. If a kid makes the NCAA clearinghouse, as far as I can tell UM will take them. I know there was a basketball player several years back who committed and couldn't make it, Matt Trannon's cousin, Dejuan Hart? Something like that. Other examples include Slocumb. I'm not sure if his issue was not meeting UM requirements or not meeting NCAA requirements. So it's not really something worth bragging about from my perspective - both because my affiliation is as a fan and also because I have no actual knowledge on the subject, only hearsay. If I had knowledge I would only use it if in an equally ridiculous argument from another schools perspective. Because trust me, every school has fans with ridiculous arguments.

As he pedaled past us, he looked at me, stuck his tongue out (I am not kidding) and yelled "Go Green!" He was wearing a Final Four shirt from this year.

I had only seconds to reply. Do I try to muster out stats from THEIR OSU and PSU games citing that they actually lost by more? Do I recite the fact that they have won exactly 1 game in Ann Arbor since 1990 and only 2 games in East Lansing since after the 1995 season? Do I try to expound on the recruiting savyness of RR or the unparalleled diligence of Barwis and staff? Maybe I should try to inform this fat bastard of the fact that we are STILL #1 all time in wins and winning percentage?

Well, how the interaction went down was:

"Last night was the UFC 100 Fight Night (4 good fights BTW), and I live in Lansing, MI. The enemies territory, but I do not care. I wear my Michigan stuff every chance I can get. So I decide to wear my UM shirt to Buffalo Wild Wings to watch the fight. Like all fight nights its packed; standing room only!

As I walk in you can see all of these guys decked out in that horrible shade of green and here is me in the middle of it all representing. I constantly had people talking crap to me: "F--- Michigan" this and "You're a loser" that. I could care less because I love to instigate my little brother every single chance I can get. LOL!

And after UM beats MSU this year. I am going back BWW with my Brandon Minor jersey and once again, instigating my little brother.
