White Sox might be close to a deal for Jake Peavy.

Now that could shake things up a bit in the division. Neither Gavin Floyd or John Danks have pitched well so far this year, so Chicago is desperate for quality starting pitching.

Keep in mind though that Peavy currently pitches in the most pitcher-friendly park in the entire league out in San Diego, and now he'd be coming to one of the best hitters parks in the AL.

I hope the trade happens, the Sox already have a depleted farm system after the Swisher debacle, so forking out another kings ransom for a pitcher on the decline helps the Tigs out long-term.

Peavy should demand a lot of assets.

Also, he has a complete no trade clause, so they can only send him where he wants to go.

ESPN reporting the deal is done pending Peavy's approval.

This is big for the Sox. No matter how you spin it, the White Sox just got better.

Yeah, they did. Hopefully they suck in the future though.

At least they're not getting Mark Mulder.

They still have too many holes in their lineup. It's not a good thing, but they've got a ways to go....

Looks like it fell through at Peavy's denial.

This probably makes Gl'enn love Peavy anymore. The mere mention of the name "Peavy" sends Gl'enn into full orgasm.

Perfect.

Peavy shot it down, and while I think he will accept a trade at some point, probably this season, I doubt he'll ever pitch in the AL.

Also, it confuses me why the Padres would sign him to such an expensive deal in the first place. When they look at the big picture, they know it will never work for them.

It would be funny if he now gets traded to a different AL team.

I think the "I want to stay in the NL" thing is a smokescreen. I think "I want to win" is probably the truth.

I wish he could have been straightforward and just said "I don't want to play for them", which his agent pretty much alluded to.

Fuck Ozzie.

If the Tigers hadn't paid Willis all that money they may be in the conversation. Can't afford him now (even if the assets were right).

No, there is legitimacy to the NL only thing. The fact that every 9 AB's they get to face another pitcher who can't hit is going to help them a great deal statistically and they love that. Not to mention pitching in Petco, which is 750 ft to deep center, helps that career ERA a bit.

Now, if the Angels won 5 WS in a row and were likely to keep going and gave him the chance to keep his family in the same general area for a you-would-be-crazy-not-to-take-it $35 million per year contract, he would jump at it.

The Sox are believed to be preparing an offer for the Astros' Roy Oswalt, but team sources say that he'll likely exercise his no-trade clause if the White Sox reach a deal with Houston.

This is awesome.
