View Full Version : GSW idea
Glenn 05-14-2009, 07:06 AM Nelson is determined to deal Jamal Crawford, and his 3pt shooting could be useful to the Pistons, but they'd have to be motivated to take him on, which means more talent would need to be added to the deal.
What would it take to get Biedrins added to the deal?
Rip/Amir/#15 for Biedrins/Crawford?
Amir could fit nicely in that style of offense. Or maybe it's Rip/Kwame for Biedrins/Crawford (if GSW insists on a center).
Any other possibilities?
Crawford is kind of toxic on message boards, I assume that some won't want him at all.
Hermy 05-14-2009, 08:03 AM I don't hate him, but I look at our starters, and they're .500 with this team. Beens doesn't bring much besides rebounding. JCraw and Stuck are meh. Tay is meh. Nah, sorry G. No go.
Pharaoh 05-14-2009, 08:42 AM Before Joe chases him or even makes a phone call I'd look to see how he performed against Cleveland the last 2 seasons.
If he played well more often than not I might consider him. Otherwise I'd spend my money on someone else.
Right now all we should be worried about is beating Cleveland.

So they have nothing you'd want?
Pharaoh 05-14-2009, 09:52 AM I don't think that's not what he means GD.
I really don't wanna speak for Hermy but...
I think he means that the guys we get from GSW don't excite him. They don't bring something special.
Sure, they might bring 3 point shooting (JC) or boards (AB) but they are limited in other areas...
Is that what you meant Hermy?
WTFchris 05-14-2009, 10:18 AM I don't think they have difference makers either. We need to turn this cap space into one difference maker and one complementary big man at the very least.
Pharaoh 05-14-2009, 10:26 AM I'd be hoping for more than.
2 difference makers and a role player.
I guess that depends on how you define a "difference maker"
To me a guy like Varejao could be classed as a difference maker.
And I don't think Boozer is gonna make much of a difference here.

I wasn't really planning on using any cap space here.

I'll take Biedrins over Varejao every day of the week.
Varejao didn''t even start on his own team for large parts of the season, Biedrins just turned 23 (4 years younger than AV) and put up 12 & 11 this year with nearly 2 blocks/gm. He'd be a top 5 rebounder in the league and top 10 in blocks if he had played a couple of more games to qualify.
I think Varejao is a solid role player, but Biedrins is a starting caliber center, FCS.
WTFchris 05-14-2009, 10:59 AM Biedrins at least has a post game. I'd rather have him too. Varajao would be a great fit next to TD or Yao, but they can't afford him.
Zekyl 05-14-2009, 11:01 AM I'd consider the deal, especially the Rip/Kwame over the Rip/Amir/#15. I'd rather keep the pick and some team may still want to take a chance on Amir's youth/energy/athleticism.
I hate to say this, but if Boston got Amir, I bet he'd develop into at least a decent bench guy just from having Garnett, who used to be a lot like Amir in the young athletic sense. He'll never be like Garnett, but that crazy intensity could push him and teach him some things.
Back on topic:
Crawford doesn't have Rips midrange game in the slightest but he can shoot the 3 which is something we need and something Joe has been saying he wants. He can handle the ball, which is something else Joe has been saying he wants. I don't know about his defense, but a 3pt shooter that can handle the ball would be a good backcourt mate to Stuckey, who can handle and slash but lacks a good jumper. The real question is would Crawford feel the need to be the main man or would he be willing to fit into the team? If you've got good coaching, that's not as big of an issue but I have no faith in Curry to keep things like that from bubbling up.
Biedrins is exactly what we've all been saying we want in a C to go along with someone like Amare or Bosh, or even Millsap/Boozer. He's not going to put up a lot of points, but he's going to hustle, grab boards, and protect the rim and he's got youth.
Overall, if it was Rip/Kwame for Crawford/Biedrins, and the salaries come out fairly even so were not using the cap like Glenn implied, we'd have a downgrade at SG but a solid upgrade at C plus another ballhandler on the floor. You'd have to give it serious consideration.
Cross 05-14-2009, 11:04 AM ^and nelson uses weird lineups so his minutes may not have been consistent throughout the whole season.
I wouldn't mind biedrins, if we got a scoring post player. and a scoring forward/guard..and a pg that can distribute the ball well...and a proper coach...and the list goes on.
i love jamal crawford, but we need a point guard like andre miller, someone who passes first. Stuckey/JC backcourt is going to be a disaster, unless jc iswilling to come off the bench
Glenn 05-15-2009, 12:19 PM Good stuff on Biedrins:

Joe Asberry 05-15-2009, 01:10 PM where do i sign?
BIG BEN'S FRO 05-18-2009, 06:00 PM Yeah that's BAD news. It makes it much easier for other teams to trade for him rather than us.
