View Full Version : Summer concerts and reunion tours, 2009-2013, 2015, excluding 2010-2012, also 2017
Glenn 04-30-2009, 03:40 PM Maybe I'm alone, but I always enjoy reading about the big summer concerts that will be touring around the country each year.
I heard a couple of good ones yesterday on XM.
Twisted Sister is going to be touring this summer to promote the 25th Anniversary of "Stay Hungry", lol.
As they do every year, Def Leppard is going out again, and this time they are bringing along both Poison and Cheap Trick.
Those dudes from Cheap Trick must almost be in their 70's by now.
Anyways, if any of you hear about any interesting/funny summer concert tours, feel free to post them here.
Hermy 04-30-2009, 04:12 PM Jimmy Buffett: DTE Thursday, August 13, 2009. I got 6 tix.
Glenn 04-30-2009, 04:15 PM You do that every year, don't you?
Must be a pot smoking thing, that dude's music and image make me want to stab myself with a fork in the eye.
WTFchris 04-30-2009, 04:18 PM FINS TO THE LEFT!
Yeah, not a big buffet fan either.
Hermy 04-30-2009, 05:01 PM It's a drunk thing. The parking lot is a boozefest, people with "wheels of drunk" and 5 gallons of margaritas in a weed sprayer, then you get to sing songs you can remember a couple lines and little dances to with a group of folks who are entirely accepting of the state you're in. I really wouldn't care if Buffett was there, play his music on a boom box just let me be belligerent in public. (and of course I smoke weed)
Glenn 04-30-2009, 05:09 PM Here's some more "good" ones.

Glenn 05-01-2009, 09:18 AM I'd pay to see Gord.
I saw Tom Jones in Vegas because "I just had to."
This would be similar.
Big Swami 05-01-2009, 09:24 AM Bob Dylan recently said that Gord was one of his favorite songwriters. Called him "Gord" too.
Honestly, I'd rather hear Lonesome Highway than most of Dylan's songs. Come on - "Morning after blues from my head down to my shoes" - how perfect is that?
I saw a guy last weekend with an Edmund Fitzgerald Facts t-shirt. I offered him $30 on the spot for it, but no go.
Glenn 05-01-2009, 09:30 AM I really like Sundown (of course) and Early Morning Rain (although I admit I like Elvis' version better).
Elvis also did a great job on Gord's "For Lovin' Me".

Timone 05-01-2009, 07:44 PM I will NOT be there to see Whitesnake, I assure you!!
maybe just a little
Big Swami 05-02-2009, 06:46 PM I really like Sundown (of course) and Early Morning Rain (although I admit I like Elvis' version better).

Timone 05-13-2013, 03:28 PM Queensryche on 8/23 sounds interesting, but couple things:
1) Hasn't Geoff been out of the band or something?
2) Slaughter and Vince Neil will also be there. LOL
Also, Incantation and Melvins on back-to-back days in July. Sweet Jebus!
Timone 05-13-2013, 03:49 PM There are two Queensryches now? Ha.
Vinny 05-16-2013, 03:37 PM http://riotfest.org/

Timone 11-02-2013, 10:36 PM I was talking with a "friend" of mine last night about going to a show in a couple weeks that she might also be attending. She was like, "I promise I won't bother or stand by you. I'll just say hi and leave you alone." lollers
Timone 02-04-2014, 03:41 PM Don't like Motley Crue at all, but might get dragged to see them in Aug. #smh
Timone 02-04-2014, 03:44 PM Getting douche chills just thinking about it.
Timone 02-04-2014, 03:51 PM Wouldn't mind if August was here now though. Ha!
Uncle Mxy 02-05-2014, 10:59 AM Don't like Motley Crue at all, but might get dragged to see them in Aug. #smh
They're touring with Alice Cooper, right? If so, that should be good.
Timone 02-05-2014, 03:36 PM Supposedly their farewell tour.
Vinny 02-05-2014, 07:24 PM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4aob4zlhIk
I'd go see the Crue if it weren't too expensive.

MikeMyers 06-03-2017, 03:11 PM I saw Neil Diamond at the Palace night. Dude is still a showstopper at 76.
Glenn 06-03-2017, 05:15 PM Bet that was a good show.
Glenn 06-03-2017, 05:15 PM Have any popcorn?
MikeMyers 06-03-2017, 05:25 PM Funny you mention the popcorn, they were filled in the "Pistons" tubs. I'm going to miss the Palace, it's so well run and clean.
Neil played about 30 songs without an intermission and no opening act... which generally are garbage. Very good show.
I'm thinking about seeing Bob Seger at the Palace in September. I saw him back in 2006 at the Palace and it was fun.
Uncle Mxy 06-03-2017, 08:49 PM I'm curious about the Eagles with Glenn Frey's son and Vince Gill -- could be a shitshow, could be awesome:
http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/music/la-et-ms-eagles-reunion-vince-gill-deacon-frey-classic-west-east-20170530-story.html
MikeMyers 07-08-2017, 11:00 AM I went to DTE last night and saw Third Eye Blind. It was the 20th anniversary of their first album so they played the whole album. Pretty fun.
Glenn 07-08-2017, 12:25 PM [smilie=stunned.gif]
MikeMyers 07-08-2017, 01:16 PM Don't be hating since you don't live a semi-charmed life.
Vinny 07-08-2017, 03:10 PM I had to google them to see which ones they were.
Timone 07-08-2017, 05:47 PM Don't be hating since you don't live a semi-charmed life.
Glan is just getting BEAT DOWN like crazy lately.
Glenn 07-08-2017, 07:23 PM I had to google them to see which ones they were.
You took it one step further than I did I see
MikeMyers 07-19-2017, 11:47 AM I saw Tom Petty last night at DTE, he still has it. Missed the opener Peter Wolf though.
Uncle Mxy 07-20-2017, 06:35 PM Ever check out the Tom Petty channel on SiriusXM??
I think he wants to be a DJ when he never grows up. :)
MikeMyers 07-20-2017, 07:10 PM Yeah its on my favorites list in my car. He did have the song "The Last Dj" that for some reason he's never played at a concert. He performed on David Letterman.
Anyone think the Roger Waters concert will be any good, he's coming to the Palace in a couple weeks.
Glenn 07-20-2017, 07:32 PM re: Roger Waters, if you are still riding that Trump Train you may want to think twice
Timone 07-20-2017, 10:46 PM re: Roger Waters, if you are still riding that Trump Train you may want to think twice
Sad, failing Roger Waters wishes he could be half the man the tremendous, highly talented David Gilmour is. So jealous!
MikeMyers 10-03-2017, 09:35 PM Glad I went to the concert this summer. 10 weeks later and he's dead. Unbelievable.
Vinny 10-04-2017, 10:10 AM MikeMyers = The Black Widow.
Uncle Mxy 10-04-2017, 12:21 PM MikeMyers, so how were those Prince and Bowie concerts?
Are you seeing Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber soon?
Timone 10-04-2017, 05:48 PM That's nothing, I hung out (maybe a poor choice of words...) with Robin Williams in a dream 2 or 3 days before he killed himself.
Uncle Mxy 10-05-2017, 07:07 AM That's nothing, I hung out (maybe a poor choice of words...) with Robin Williams in a dream 2 or 3 days before he killed himself.
Was he a genie and was Princess Jasmine involved? I hear she's married to George Clooney now...
