Not a single thing at all will happen because its the Ducks and they pretty much get to do whatever they want if the officiating of yesterday's game means anything.

For the record, ESPN's recap does not mention anything other than the word 'feisty' in the title.

I wouldn't have expected any less of ESPN. If a dirty team comes from a top market then we actually never hear them really get called dirty. Riley's Knicks were feisty too.

I'm just hoping that the calls even out some since we're at home. Normally being at home is a slight advantage with the refs, but sadly against the Ducks it just makes the calls more even. One of the big reasons I worried about facing them in the playoffs. They get physical, which is a Wings weakness, but they don't get called for it.

So if the Wings lose tonight, would that be considered a "choke" in hockey circles?

Potentially. They'd be losing to an 8 seed, but at the same time, the Ducks won somewhere around 11 straight or some other ridiculous number like that to finish the season, and then took out the 1st seed in round 1. They had a terrible first half of the season, I believe, then played like one of the best teams in the league at the end, just in time to hit their stride as the playoffs started.


That and they get all the calls....

... and they won the Stanley Cup a few years ago. So you'd be losing to a former champion.

It would be a choke because we were up 3-2 and had game 7 at home. I'm with both Zekyl and Denny that it would not be a monumental choke because it is a team that's a bit better than their eighth seed and they did win it all two years ago.

But the Wings have an infinitely more talented team and :our: best game trumps theirs any day of the week. They have one line, decent D and a decent goalie (decent I say. Hiller's good but overrated too). As long as they get dirty and take the other team off their game, the Ducks always have a shot. Oh yeah and FUCK THEM!!

That was some exciting hockey; fitting for a game 7. It was a little more chaotic than I'd like to see, but it's 1-0. Also looks like it could be a rough game. I'm fine with that if the refs are FAIR about it. If I see a Wing get mauled with no whistle, then a minute later Nik gets 2 minutes for knocking a guy's stick loose, I'm gonna punch shit. IMO tough hockey is good hockey, and we don't have any softies on this team.
