I have had almost all of the symptoms over the past 10 days.

Got a call from a parent of a kid that was at a birthday party I took my daughter to over the weekend. Parent said her kid is sick and is being tested for Swine flu. We will know Wednesday whether she has it.

I would think that you would find this re-assuring then, unless the friend has been to Mexico lately.

So far in the US, the swine flu is 0 for 250,000,000+. While it's not smart for our officials to completely ignore it, there are things not in the news that kill people more every day.

Did you know people in the US catch the black plague every year? Yes the plague.

Plus, last year it was bird flu, before that SARS. I understand the possiblilities, I was fascinated with viruses as a child through my teens, but I'm not even going to blink at the moment.

Most of those that will die probably have compromised immune systems (cancer, chemotherapy, HIV, pregnancy, alcoholics/drug addicts, infants, very old people). Add to that the fact that tons of people already have had the virus and recovered from it without knowing it, and this flu looks mostly like any other.

I actually am sick right now, but the symptoms don't match. I kind of wish I did have it, so that I could get the antibodies and get it over with.

We had a special meeting at work. It's good to know that there are sterile wipes and cans of Lysol available. I asked about rubber gloves, facemasks and hazmat suits, but no luck there.

The World Health Organization announced Thursday it will would stop using the term "swine flu" to avoid confusion over the danger posed by pigs. The policy shift came a day after Egypt began slaughtering thousands of pigs in a misguided effort to prevent swine flu.

WHO spokesman Dick Thompson said the agriculture industry and the U.N. food agency had expressed concerns that the term "swine flu" was misleading consumers and needlessly causing countries to ban pork products and order the slaughter of pigs.

Egypt began slaughtering its roughly 300,000 pigs Wednesday even though experts said swine flu is not linked to pigs and not spread by eating pork. Angry farmers protested the government degree.
