View Full Version : OFFICIAL WTF "SWINE FLU/H1N1 INFLUENZA A" WATCH (UPDATE: APPROACHING PANDEMIC STATUS) Glenn 04-28-2009, 03:07 PM ARE YOU SCARED? Glenn 04-28-2009, 03:14 PM I have had almost all of the symptoms over the past 10 days. Fool 04-28-2009, 03:16 PM Got a call from a parent of a kid that was at a birthday party I took my daughter to over the weekend. Parent said her kid is sick and is being tested for Swine flu. We will know Wednesday whether she has it. Glenn 04-28-2009, 03:24 PM I would think that you would find this re-assuring then, unless the friend has been to Mexico lately. http://twitter.com/DrMcGeorge So far there have been links to Mexico or someone who has recently traveled to Mexico in the confirmed cases in the US. Fool 04-28-2009, 04:20 PM Yeah, I don't worry about these type of things but her mom goes nutz-o. Glenn 04-28-2009, 06:02 PM Uh oh. U.S. swine flu cases spread (http://www.yahoo.com/s/1064398) Several hundred students have fallen ill in N.Y., and at least 7 people are now hospitalized across the U.S. Vinny 04-28-2009, 06:04 PM I have had almost all of the symptoms over the past 10 days. Can you catch Swine Flu over the internet? Glenn, I don't know if I can post with you any more. Tahoe 04-28-2009, 06:05 PM We can't even handle the flu. I wonder what would happen if there really was a biological attack on this country. I mean, if Jack Bauer is busy doing something else. Wizzle 04-28-2009, 06:48 PM Captain Tripps RegicideGreg 04-28-2009, 07:47 PM http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w157/Rebeloneil/ManBearPig.jpg The true danger of swine flu. Glenn 04-28-2009, 08:00 PM Can you catch Swine Flu over the internet? Glenn, I don't know if I can post with you any more. In the spirit of full disclosure, I had my tonsils out which explains about 95% of that, but you never know I guess, so I better wait for each and every media report on this. UxKa 04-28-2009, 08:04 PM ^^That's like the Dark Crystal on acid, bad acid. Anyway, no I'm not scared. Sorry Mexico, but I'm not convinced your general public sanitation or hospitals are par on a bad public course. So far in the US, the swine flu is 0 for 250,000,000+. While it's not smart for our officials to completely ignore it, there are things not in the news that kill people more every day. Did you know people in the US catch the black plague every year? Yes the plague. Plus, last year it was bird flu, before that SARS. I understand the possiblilities, I was fascinated with viruses as a child through my teens, but I'm not even going to blink at the moment. Tahoe 04-28-2009, 08:12 PM Gl'enn had his tonsils removed in Mexico, by a pig. Tahoe 04-28-2009, 08:16 PM Old public service messages ROCK! ASibLqwVbsk Uncle Mxy 04-28-2009, 11:02 PM Two cases reported in Michigan. Glenn 04-29-2009, 07:45 AM -- 23-month-old Texas child confirmed as first U.S. swine flu death, according to Richard Besser, acting director, CDC. Fool 04-29-2009, 10:24 AM Time for war! Conquer Mexico! You can't kill our babies and expect to get away with it! Damn your unethical biological guerrilla war fare! Glenn 04-29-2009, 10:26 AM If Mexico's economy wasn't already in shambles (especially tourism with the fear of the drug cartels) then this should just about finish them off. It will take at least, what, 10 years minimum, to overcome the negative effect of this on tourism? Texas is going to take a big hit, too. Fool 04-29-2009, 10:38 AM I like how dogmatic your research was for that ten year estimate. Glenn 04-29-2009, 10:46 AM Um, thanks. It was more of a guess than an attempt at dogmatism, but I'm a fan of hypercriticism so um, thanks! Fool 04-29-2009, 10:50 AM Dude, you can just play along. It's a website. Glenn 04-29-2009, 10:54 AM That is me playing along, lol. Fool 04-29-2009, 10:57 AM It didn't used to be. Glenn 04-29-2009, 10:59 AM Oh no, the dreaded "you've changed" talk! I have fun here everyday, that's all that matters to me. Swine flu for $200, Alex. Fool 04-29-2009, 11:00 AM I think we should start posting on other boards. Glenn 04-29-2009, 11:03 AM ^Damn, what would the "Old Glenn" say to that? Probably not something about swine flu. Fool 04-29-2009, 11:09 AM Something funnier than that. Glenn 04-29-2009, 11:12 AM Sorry to disappoint, perhaps you've outgrown me. Maybe we're just in different places in life, oh, such different places. But at the same time, these commonalities seem to just keep pulling us together. What an enigma. Glenn 04-29-2009, 11:14 AM I wonder how long it will take XM/Sirius to devote a whole channel to Swine Flu Updates? I can se it now, "The SFU, XM #177" Wizzle 04-29-2009, 11:19 AM http://img117.imageshack.us/img117/2056/yingyang.png Glenn 04-29-2009, 11:24 AM WTF?!?! Glenn 04-29-2009, 04:27 PM WHO raises pandemic alert for swine flu to second highest level (http://www.yahoo.com/s/1064938) Tahoe 04-29-2009, 04:31 PM The flu we get in the US kills too. Is this strain that much worse? Glenn 04-29-2009, 04:39 PM According to a family member of mine that is a medical professional, outside of children, senior citizens, people with compromised immune systems and people that can't afford medical care/vaccines, there's not much to fear. Wizzle 04-29-2009, 04:55 PM http://msnbcmedia4.msn.com/i/MSNBC/Components/ArtAndPhoto-Fronts/HEALTH/PROJECTS/Swine_Flu/SwinFlu2_Symptoms.gif I would say I get the swine flu maybe 2 or 3 times a year Tahoe 04-29-2009, 04:58 PM ^ I felt like that today after reading Curry is coming back. geerussell 04-29-2009, 05:43 PM According to a family member of mine that is a medical professional, outside of children, senior citizens, people with compromised immune systems and people that can't afford medical care/vaccines, there's not much to fear. That's true for run of the mill seasonal flu that comes around every year. What makes the pandemic strains so bad is they kill the exact opposite group--young, healthy people with strong immune systems. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cytokine_storm) UxKa 04-29-2009, 08:01 PM The flu we get in the US kills too. Is this strain that much worse? On average, about 35,000 people in the US every year. 35,000 to 1 at this point. DennyMcLain 04-29-2009, 10:19 PM If Mexico's economy wasn't already in shambles (especially tourism with the fear of the drug cartels) then this should just about finish them off. It will take at least, what, 10 years minimum, to overcome the negative effect of this on tourism? Texas is going to take a big hit, too. If that Texas Longhorn apologist/fucktard Matthew McConaughey gets Swine Flu and dies, what will the Chick Flick industry do? It will be catastrophic!!! Zip Goshboots 04-29-2009, 10:19 PM From that old PSA video, it is clear we must kill everyone named "Joe"--lest he bring IT home from his office, and then we all die. I've already killed 6 people named Joe today--what have YOU done to protect our country from the Swine flu? Most of those that will die probably have compromised immune systems (cancer, chemotherapy, HIV, pregnancy, alcoholics/drug addicts, infants, very old people). Add to that the fact that tons of people already have had the virus and recovered from it without knowing it, and this flu looks mostly like any other. I actually am sick right now, but the symptoms don't match. I kind of wish I did have it, so that I could get the antibodies and get it over with. Glenn 04-30-2009, 09:32 AM We had a special meeting at work. It's good to know that there are sterile wipes and cans of Lysol available. I asked about rubber gloves, facemasks and hazmat suits, but no luck there. geerussell 04-30-2009, 09:42 AM I'd push for flamethrowers, never know when your coworkers might go resident evil on you. DE 04-30-2009, 10:38 AM I'd push for flamethrowers, never know when your coworkers might go resident evil on you. LOL! POTD Tahoe 04-30-2009, 11:33 AM I'd be pushing to be able to work from home. Glenn 04-30-2009, 03:23 PM The World Health Organization announced Thursday it will would stop using the term "swine flu" to avoid confusion over the danger posed by pigs. The policy shift came a day after Egypt began slaughtering thousands of pigs in a misguided effort to prevent swine flu. WHO spokesman Dick Thompson said the agriculture industry and the U.N. food agency had expressed concerns that the term "swine flu" was misleading consumers and needlessly causing countries to ban pork products and order the slaughter of pigs. "Rather than calling this swine flu ... we're going to stick with the technical scientific name H1N1 influenza A," Thompson said. Egypt began slaughtering its roughly 300,000 pigs Wednesday even though experts said swine flu is not linked to pigs and not spread by eating pork. Angry farmers protested the government degree. You just can't make this shit up. DennyMcLain 04-30-2009, 03:25 PM It's been all downhill since Cleopatra. WTFchris 04-30-2009, 03:47 PM Can we call it the Cavs flu? Wizzle 04-30-2009, 04:23 PM "H1N1 influenza A"......that's catchy sorry Glenn 04-30-2009, 04:57 PM There are no sacred pigs. WTFchris 04-30-2009, 05:33 PM The CDC has recommended not doing this: http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/7945/swinefluq.png (http://img520.imageshack.us/my.php?image=swinefluq.png) Fool 05-01-2009, 09:34 AM LOL That's one baby Maxiell will not eat. Glenn 05-06-2009, 12:06 PM American with swine flu dies (http://www.yahoo.com/s/1068092) UxKa 05-06-2009, 06:23 PM chronic underlying health conditions I'm still not going to blink until somebody in the USA who is not an infant, elderly person, or suffering from a severely weakened immune system dies. It's even confirmed in my county now... not scared. Fool 05-06-2009, 08:40 PM Your girl has stars on her tits. You're safe dude. |
