People are a little harsh on Kwame. He came in and did an okay job. There's just a lot of resentment for him because he might have been the worst #1 draft pick in history...

I'd say a solid C works for Kwame.

C. He did what he was supposed to do. Neither exceeded or failed on expectations IMO.

Hands of rock but he does have the big body that I think we need underneath.

He had a few good games but I think we could put his money into better players.

C is for the fact he was seen.

I thought he'd be the 12th man, wave a towel and only play when we won a blowout.

Shit - I thought the team and our other bigs would be so good he'd be the thing we'd bitch about all season (as in "Why did we sign him"?)

I'd go B. He had to fight for a job and won it. He'll see playoff minutes this year, and some rotation next year.

Just an odd player to watch, on rare occations he looks like a guy who you would think about drafting #1 overall, then he disappears.

I rated him D. Sure, he had great games when he really fought for us on the boards but he wasn't consistent with it. I'm very familiar with Kwame as he went to a High School about a hour from where I live. I just don't think he's worth what we're paying him.

How many 7 footers are out there that can give Kwame's defense, shotblocking, rebounding, and can finish under the basket with 9 years NBA experience? Plus he is still young and only gets paid 4 million to do it. I guarantee if two years ago the Pistons had spent the MLE on a 27 year old 7 footer who has Kwame's athleticism and defense, people would be shitting their pants excited. Kwame gets paid less than the MLE!

I'm grading these guys as to what I expected from them to begin with, not on an overall quality scale. Meaning, Kwame and Tayshaun can both get B's even though Tayshaun brings far more.

Kwame did better than I thought and was actually useful. He was a valuable contract and signing.

The thing that drags him down is "Kwame Brown". If he were just another guy drafted in the mid-late first round, he'd be considered another player and a decent deal. If he was drafted in the second round, he'd probably be well regarded. But since he's a former #1 pick that was a bust, he's going to be considered crap no matter what. We signed him to give us depth as our #4-5 big, to be the big guy when we needed to go big and sit the bench while Max played when we could get away with small. He ended up starting for us and doing fairly well. He gets a B from me.
Based on expecatations coming into the season, I'd say he did pretty well. At this point, everyone knows what they're getting with Kwame Brown and that's what he gave us. He doesn't have any more potential, he is what he is, and he did well in the role we gave him. I'd actually say that he's reasonably paid, he's not overpayed. If we decide we don't want him, we'd be able to move him easily.

No problem. Thought a poor rant would kill some time at the office.

Kwame's #'s:
17.2 MPG
4.2 PPG
5.0 RPG
.41 BPG

Oden's #'s:
21.5 MPG
8.9 PPG
7.0 RPG
1.13 BPG

Kwame's #'s projected to 21.5 MPG:
5.25 PPG
6.25 RPG
.51 BPG

Not as good as Oden, but he's also taken half the shots Oden has this year too.

Oden's looking like a big mistake for the Blazers.

I gave Kwame a C. He is an ok big but his hands are just so bad. He just turns over the ball so much those horrible. He only seems to rebound when the ball comes righ tto him and he rarely fights for it. He tends to drop or knock a bunch of "potential" rebounds out of bounds. His offense is very limited and his help D is suspect. He's on the cheap (relatively speaking) but he really is mediocre at best and deserves a C.
