In the Hunt:
Florida (91 points)
Tahoe 03-27-2009, 05:28 PM I guess it's already this time, isn't it. I'm just hoping I get to see as many playoffs games as I did last year.
Looking forward to it.
MoTown 03-28-2009, 08:06 AM The Wings missed a huge opportunity last night...
You're 100% right. At the same time I like San Jose having to deal with Nashville. Of course I do think the Nashville series last year did toughen up the Wings and played a part in their taking the next step and being so dominant the rest of the playoffs.
But again, I absolutely agree with you. If our goaltending were without questions I wouldn't care about home ice as much.
Some of those East matchups are interesting too. I'm not sure the Bruins really want to have to deal with Montreal.
Wilfredo Ledezma 03-28-2009, 01:30 PM At least the Oilers don't have Visnovsky for the rest of the year.
Glenn 03-28-2009, 02:44 PM I'd like to see something similar to this for the NBA playoffs.
MoTown 03-28-2009, 03:13 PM ^But who would create the thread?
WTFchris 03-28-2009, 04:20 PM Pistons might be better off with 7 seed than 6 seed now (with Boston slipping to 3rd).
Like the NBA, a lot can change in the last/first few spots and the matchups will cary often. It would be nice to get the president's trophy though.
Glenn 03-28-2009, 04:26 PM ^But who would create the thread?
I guess that's a problem, isn't it?
Oh well, maybe next year.
Zekyl 03-31-2009, 06:17 PM I was hoping the Wings would get the Blue Jackets in round 1. My roommate is a big jackets fan and i would love to have someone to mock
MoTown 04-10-2009, 09:50 AM Anaheim, St. Louis and Nashville are all tied with 88 points. Even though St. Louis is hot right now, I would much rather face them than the other teams. I do not, under any circumstances, want to face the Ducks. I sense first round upset if the Wings draw them. I also think the Ducks could beat the Sharks.
The Central is by far the best division in hockey - if Anaheim falters, every single Central team will make the playoffs. That's insane.
The East looks pretty weak again. Boston and the Caps are the only teams that might have a chance of winning the Cup from the East, IMO.
Tahoe 04-10-2009, 01:44 PM 2 days til playoffs.
Did you post that today, Mo? So playoffs start on Sunday? Lookin forward to it.
Tahoe 04-10-2009, 01:45 PM BTW...Anyone who faces the Wings is going to go up against a
:SHIT STORM!:

Don't you almost get the feeling that in the East, with almost every team including the Bruins being just a bit overrated, New Jersey or the Rangers or Carolina or one of the not as big teams could get hot and run the table there?
MoTown 04-11-2009, 09:06 AM Did you post that today, Mo? So playoffs start on Sunday? Lookin forward to it.
I must have missed where I typed that. The regular season ends Sunday (tomorrow). The playoffs will begin on Wednesday or Thursday.
DE - I can see any team coming out of the East. It's very wide open. Even Montreal was supposed to be the top team in the East, but they blew it this year. So I wouldn't be surprised if they upset Boston in the first round.
Also, how hilarious is it that Avery just destroyed Dallas in the six games he was there to the point where Dallas didn't even come close to making the playoffs.
Zekyl 04-12-2009, 11:00 AM Don't you almost get the feeling that in the East, with almost every team including the Bruins being just a bit overrated, New Jersey or the Rangers or Carolina or one of the not as big teams could get hot and run the table there?
Not only do I get the feeling, but I expect it.
RegicideGreg 04-12-2009, 07:28 PM It's Official Wings to play Blue Jackets in the first round.
MoTown 04-12-2009, 10:27 PM I'm torn as to how I feel about this - Anaheim is not what they used to be, but they still have JSG. And Columbus is young and inexperienced, but they have possibly the best goalie in the league.
I think that sums it up. Other than their goalie, I love this matchup for the Wings. Well the goalie and the fact that we're sliding into the playoffs and they have nothing to lose.
But I like the minimal travel and the fact that the Wings can take care of business against this team. I also feel that the Wings, if they play their game, might just have one of the easier draws in the West.
Wilfredo Ledezma 04-13-2009, 09:54 AM I bet the Blue Jackets give us some minor problems like Nashville gave us last year.
Dan Ellis 2008 = Steve Mason 2009
Wings in 6
Tahoe 04-17-2009, 12:36 PM My wife (from the Bay Area) favorite teams are the Detroit Tigers, San Jose Sharks, San Francisco Giants, but she was asking if the Sharks are going to win the series?
So are the Sharks in trouble? Or are they going to bounce back, no problem?
I'm not sure the Ducks played as good as the Sharks played bad.
WTFchris 04-17-2009, 06:58 PM I just noticed pretty much everyone had good luck with travel matchups.
Boston vs Montreal
New York vs Washington
Philly vs Pitt
NJ vs Carolina
Ducks vs Sharks
Wings vs Jackets
Flames/Hawks and Blues/Canucks are farthest travel
Motown hit it right, nobody wants anything to do with the Ducks. Good team, great goalie and playing tough. San Jose needs people to step up. That's what gave the Wings a huge edge last year and what the Sharks have never seemed to find.

The Eastern Conference never has to travel far. It's bullshit.
Tahoe 04-17-2009, 10:02 PM ^ I was thinking about that last night again...time for a Central Conference?
Also, I know nothing about Hockey
Well you are just a toaster.
Tahoe 04-18-2009, 12:57 AM right now I'm toasted too
Tahoe 04-18-2009, 12:58 AM and no one will answer will if the San Jose Sharks are in trouble or just a blip on radar with the loss last night.
Emilio says the Ducks are for real.

Tahoe 04-30-2009, 11:32 PM I was watching the ChiTown Vanc...Blackhawks down 2 most of the game...started watching the end of the NBA and the Blackhawks tied it up at 3.
WTFchris 05-12-2009, 11:00 AM Say what you will about the Mullet, but he's only missed one pick so far in the playoffs:
http://espn.go.com/nhl/playoffs/2009/news/_/id/4115401/2009-stanley-cup-playoffs-experts-picks
He had the Flyers in 7 over the Pens, otherwise he has them all right so far (with Detroit, Carolina and Washington winning the series still in progress).
MoTown 05-12-2009, 01:26 PM It's usually a bad omen when he predicts the Wings to win.
Actually he should get all of them right - he missed like 80% of them last year. The only series he picked the Wings to win was the Finals.
He could get 100% right and he'd still be an idiot in my book. Dude can't break down a game or talk actual strategy to save his hair.
MoTown 05-12-2009, 03:04 PM He can rip on the Red Wings for hours at a time, though. That takes some skill...
Tahoe 05-12-2009, 03:06 PM He is such a ham...he's a made for TV dufus. I'd rather listen to fingernails on a chalk board.
He can rip on the Red Wings for hours at a time, though. That takes some skill...
Very true. Good thing it's nothing personal.
Tahoe 05-26-2009, 09:56 PM Gl'enn rejoices!
Glenn 05-27-2009, 07:44 AM I don't care 2 shits about the Penguins. I used to be a Flyers fan.
Broad Street Bullies.
WTFchris 05-27-2009, 08:30 AM I wanted them to win only because if the Wings win they will start this weekend. Otherwise they probably wait until next weekend to start.
Tahoe 05-27-2009, 01:57 PM I don't care 2 shits about the Penguins. I used to be a Flyers fan.
Broad Street Bullies.
I stand corrected.
And now that I think about it, I remember you posting something like...
:our: Wings
So you are a lock as a Wing fan. :)
I can't believe that Crosby held the Wales trophy. The Wings touch no other trophy but the Stanley Cup.

Zekyl 05-27-2009, 03:07 PM That's always a no-no. I remember last year when Lidstrom wouldn't pick it up. He just pit his fingertips barely on the edge of the table it was sitting on. I think Yzerman was the same way.
Timone 04-29-2017, 11:03 PM NTAGAS, but Ovechkin and the Crapitals are going to shitting the bed gain. Sad!
Timone 05-10-2017, 10:08 PM I may be a loser, but at least I don't root for the Crapitals. LOL!!
Vinny 05-10-2017, 11:10 PM Crapitals.
HA!
Timone 05-25-2017, 11:28 PM This is a hell of a game. Makes me wish the Red Wings were good.
Timone 05-25-2017, 11:28 PM Shittsburghers really showing their LACK OF CLASS.
I agree with the one broadcaster: THROW THEM OUT!
Timone 05-25-2017, 11:30 PM I hope this goes to at least a fifth OT.
Timone 05-25-2017, 11:52 PM SID THE KID'S GOING TO GO FOR A REPEAT!!!
Timone 06-11-2017, 11:33 PM Another Red Wings streak is over. So sad.
Timone 04-09-2018, 07:33 PM I love how the Penguins and Flyers play each other in the playoffs every year.

Timone 05-30-2018, 11:25 PM That save was like the Tayshaun blocking Reggie of hockey.
Timone 06-07-2018, 11:00 PM It's about to happen?
Timone 06-07-2018, 11:07 PM It happened, NTYGAS.
