Mine, without a doubt, is H.S. Trask. I own four pair. Again, a fine reflection on myself.

So am I not on bukdow's level if I don't have a clue as to what H.S. Trasks are?

(I know I wouldn't be on bukky's level even if I did know what they were...)

I don't have "my" brand that I prefer.

Here's how it goes down:

First, I decide that I need a new pair of shoes, "Damn, I need a new pair of shoes". Then, I might browse the sale ads in the paper on Sunday to see who is having a good sale. Next, I proceed to said store and check out their selection. Do they have the style and color that I am looking for? Do they have something else that I like better? Are the prices tolerable? (Not necessarily "cheap", but "justifyable" is nice.) If the answer to those questions is "no", I then proceed to a different store that sells shoes, until the desired outcome is accomplished.

Typical Dad guy stuff, really.

You do need to buy quality shoes, though, cheaply made shoes are a waste because they won't last.

I'm similar. When they get ratty I check at Kohl's and DSW (best shoe prices I've found) until I find a pair that I like and are comfortable. Specific brands are not important to me (though I admit I buy name brand in general). They usually end up being New Balence (fits me the best), but I've also had Nike and Adidas shoes recently. Can't remember having another brand of tennis shoe in a long time (reebok's never fit).

I guess I buy into the NIKE hype, cuz thats all I buy. Buy on-line, 2 different shoes in 2 differnt sizes, find the one that I like best and ship the rest back.

Wow, does #25 remind me of the good ol' days. In fact, and I can't remember now because of all the pot I smoked (I said "SMOKED" hehe teehee tinkle tinkle), but the two guys up front just might be me and my old "freind"/"roommate" Jezabelle. We both used to dress up and go out for nights on the town. We wouldn't dress up as women, that's not real. Just me and Jezabelle dressed up fancy, maybe a bit gaudy, but always sexy.
And that picture does remind me of more than a few nights where you just didn't sleep in the City By The Bay. The party went on for days---hey, no drugs, we didn't need them--it was life, we were out, happy, and didn't care! Who needs sleep? The average person will waste 1/3 of their life sleeping! Not Jezabelle and Lionheart! And not too many other Queens up and down Castro and Polk sts, let me tell you.
And oh, the morings after when you did sleep! Waking up between a famous quarterback who won a lot of super bowls for the 49ers and a famous Hispanic baseball player who hit a lot of home runs and took a lot of steroids while playing for the "A's" in some posh hotel and not remembering how you go there (was it a week ago? A month? A day? WHERE'S Jezabelle?) And then you remember the soft soothing kisses of the quarterback, the tingling of having your toes sucked by the Hispanic baseball player...And you lose yourself in their love again and again.
Oh, a POX on you LDB for posting that picture! And to think I gave all that up to go to Michigan State for TWO degrees; to get married, and condemn myself to a life of pretending to read these boring magazines! To pretend to love this woman, who bores me to tears after so many years of picking out floor tiles, carpet, curtains, and worthless junk decorations made in TAIWAN! OH THE HELL OF IT ALL! Oh, yeay! How fun going to PTA meetings and sitting with all the other men (most of them former Queens. We know, we all have that look) who'd rather be strutting down Daly Street wearing a tutu and a boa on a sunny June day!
Oh, how I'd love to run back to my San Francisco, where I left my heart, for just one week before I'm too old to care anymore, and before I hear myself utter that death sentence: "I can't wait to be a grandpa"
