View Full Version : Who are some ballers that you are watching...
Tahoe 02-26-2009, 05:48 PM That are not talked about every day. For me, its
Patrick White QB
Conner Barwin, TE, DL, The guy can do anything
Brian Robiskie Safe pick, not blazing speed but safe pick.
It will be interesting to see where these guys fit in as the draft gets closer.
anyone else?
Hermy 02-26-2009, 06:20 PM White looked good at his bowl game, the Sr.bowl and the combine. Some team may take a shot on him.
DrRay11 02-26-2009, 06:46 PM Sammie Lee Hill
Tahoe 02-26-2009, 06:53 PM ^ nice.
Timone 02-27-2009, 12:31 AM I'm watching Robiskie too. I think he'll end up being a decent WR in the league, even though he really wasn't anything special at tOSU.
Timone 02-27-2009, 12:36 AM Pat White will be interesting. He won't project as a QB, but someone will most likely take him and convert him to WR.
Tahoe 02-27-2009, 12:38 AM Good comparison...Potentially better. He'd be great to pair with CJ. Dreaming
Timone 02-27-2009, 12:40 AM As you said, he doesn't have blazing speed. But he has very good hands and also runs his routes very well. That to me signals a long career (barring injury, of course).
It's too bad the Ravens have other needs that they'll need to address before finding an eventual replacement to Mason.
Tahoe 02-27-2009, 12:43 AM Yep, totally strong fundamentally and good size.
Zekyl 02-27-2009, 08:39 AM White looked good at his bowl game, the Sr.bowl and the combine. Some team may take a shot on him.
He's moved up to the #5 QB for Kiper.
Glenn 02-27-2009, 08:55 AM Pat White will be interesting. He won't project as a QB, but someone will most likely take him and convert him to WR.
MAYBE DICKROD CAN SQUEEZE SOME EXTRA ELIGIBILITY OUT OF HIM
Wilfredo Ledezma 02-27-2009, 08:58 AM James Davis from Clemson
Darry Beckwith from LSU
Fili Moala from USC
Glenn 02-27-2009, 08:59 AM Can we change the thread title?
Timone 02-27-2009, 09:00 AM MAYBE DICKROD CAN SQUEEZE SOME EXTRA ELIGIBILITY OUT OF HIM
YEAH, I BET DICKROD WISHES HE HAD HIM AT MICHIGAN LAST SEASON!
DrRay11 02-27-2009, 10:37 AM Fili Moala is built just like Shaun Cody. I don't expect him to be any better unless he can put on some weight if he's going to play NT, or even UT.
Watching: Alphonso Smith (may be dropping some)
Pat White -- would take a shot at him at 82 for some crazy wildcat shit assuming we have some other needs filled and he's still there
Evander "Ziggy" Hood
James Casey (TE)
darkobetterthanmelo 02-27-2009, 10:44 AM I have always liked Pat White, I would take a shot on him with a late pick.
Timone 02-27-2009, 10:47 AM Can he play point guard?
Zekyl 02-27-2009, 12:23 PM Can he play point guard?
Even if he can play it, he's still a SG. Glenn, amirite?
Glenn 02-27-2009, 12:55 PM Glenn, amirite?
No. Just, no.
Tahoe 02-27-2009, 01:28 PM I have always liked Pat White, I would take a shot on him with a late pick.
He won't last that long imo.
I'm watching Ziggy too.
Connor Barwin can play DE or TE. He had a great combine too.
Jethro34 02-28-2009, 09:51 PM Oddly enough, I'm watching Javon Ringer. I'm not sure one person could have done more for their team than he did this season. I rip the guy, but I'm amazed his stock is so low.
Zip Goshboots 03-01-2009, 12:10 AM This baller is someone to keep an eye on
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_txTgejaMGnc/SFkmsCJc3UI/AAAAAAAAAHw/a4QSBWbB12A/s320/big_balls.jpg
Timone 03-02-2009, 08:42 AM Darrius Heyward Yablowme-Bey, WR, out of Maryland. Apparently the kid's 6'3" and has "elite" speed. Some site has :us: (the Ravens) taking him at 26.
I'd probably rather go with a corner though.
Tahoe 03-02-2009, 10:49 AM I don't think he'll be there that late. Raiders like him.
Timone 03-02-2009, 10:50 AM They like him, but they don't love him.
If I didn't think :we: needed to get secondary help before anything else, I'd love him.
Timone 03-05-2009, 04:26 PM That DrTre dude. You know, the one that likes to rock tight gear?
Tahoe 03-20-2009, 08:37 PM per kffl... stuff on Conner Barwin. Very versatile.
Patriots | Barwin worked out
Fri, 20 Mar 2009 14:49:15 -0700
Ed Thompson, of Scout.com, reports the New England Patriots held a private workout with University of Cincinnati DE Connor Barwin.
NFL | Some teams still look at Barwin as a TE
Fri, 20 Mar 2009 14:43:57 -0700
Ed Thompson, of Scout.com, reports at least five teams are still evaluating University of Cincinnati DE Connor Barwin as a tight end because of his size, speed and athleticism.
NFL | Barwin fast at Pro Day
Fri, 20 Mar 2009 14:30:54 -0700
Ed Thompson, of Scout.com, reports University of Cincinnati DE Connor Barwin ran a 4.47-second 40-yard dash at his Pro Day, according to the university's timer, but some onlookers timed him between 4.43 seconds and 4.45 seconds.
kdawg32086 03-21-2009, 12:30 AM Joshua Mauga MLB Nevada
I think this guy will be as good as Maualuga at the next level. His junior season was very impressive before he got hurt. Senior year wasn't great but this guy was pretty good at the combine and should be a solid player at the next level.
DJ Moore CB Vanderbilt
Mark my words, this guy will be the best CB to come out of this draft. He's a special player and I think he's very underrated.
Jeremiah Johnson RB Oregon
Call me a homer since I live in Oregon, but this guy is sick. He plays much faster than he times. His in game speed at times seems like its in the low 4.4's although he times to around 4.5 Has GREAT vision and should be a gem as a 3rd down back for someone.
Andre Brown RB North Carolina State
Best running back to come out of this draft. Combines speed with power to be a complete player and does not have a lot of yardage on his legs. Someone is gonna be happy when they land him in the 2nd round.
MoTown 03-21-2009, 08:48 AM Holy shit. Welcome back KDawg. It's been a while.
kdawg32086 03-23-2009, 06:18 PM Thx man good to be back.
Another guy to watch.
Rhett Bomar QB Sam Houston State
This guy started for Oklahoma as a freshman. After he got into trouble he went to Sam Souston and tore shit up, breaking their passing records. He's done everything he was expected to do and more. IMO, he'll be the best QB to come out of this draft, no ifs ands or buts.
WTFchris 03-23-2009, 06:27 PM I wouldn't mind drafting all defense and taking a late flier on a QB, if you think Stafford isn't an elite QB in the making.
Zekyl 03-23-2009, 08:32 PM I've heard some good things about him. Some scouting reports have said that he's got the potential to be one of those late round QBs who turns into a solid player at the next level. NFLDraftCountdown has him rated ahead of Nate Davis as the #4 QB. He set the Sooners freshman passing record and was the MVP of the Holiday Bowl that year. He looks like someone that could sit a year, be the main backup and get spot duty, then be the starter in year 3, with the right coaching of course.
This is all based on hearsay and some scouting reports, though.
Tahoe 03-26-2009, 01:59 PM Thx man good to be back.

I wouldn't mind that either. Drafting the trenches and grabbing a QB late. Late QBs do succeed sometimes...Montana, Brady, Favre.
Glenn 03-26-2009, 02:02 PM "sometimes" lol
You pointed out that taking a QB at #1 is a risk that they can't take, but isn't hoping that the unheralded QB that you take on day 2 will turn into a future stud an even bigger reach?
Tahoe 03-26-2009, 02:38 PM Yes, its a bigger reach at far less investment.
Glenn 03-26-2009, 03:00 PM Less investment and less likely to pan out, amiright?
Tahoe 03-26-2009, 03:03 PM I'd agree wit dat, fo sho.
Zekyl 03-26-2009, 03:51 PM Even if he just turns into your future backup, its still worth the grab if you don't want to take someone #1 right now. I'd say Dan-O turned into a fairly good pick for us. He spent a few seasons as our #3, got himself some duty as the #2, then worked his way into the starters role. If we could have resigned him as our #2, I would have called that a highly successful pick.
Tahoe 03-26-2009, 03:55 PM If the Schwartz or Linehan can get some time to evaluate Stanton between now and the draft and they don't think he has what it takes, if they don't go QB in the 1st round, that would be a good pick, afaict.
Tahoe 03-26-2009, 04:01 PM http://www.draftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/qb/Rhett-Bomar.php
Zekyl 03-26-2009, 06:03 PM Essentially, at this point, Stanton is our developmental late rounder. No need to take another one unless you view Stanton as a lost cause or as the backup, meaning we have an open spot at 3rd QB.
Zekyl 03-26-2009, 06:07 PM Also, based on that article about completion percentages, Bomar isn't likely to develop into anything in the NFL. He only completed 56.2% of his passes his senior year. There can be a lot to this though. He could have receivers with a case of the dropsies or who were unable to get open, or he could have had a swiss cheese offensive line that didn't allow him any time to go through his progressions and forced him to make questionable decisions just to keep his team in the game.
Tahoe 03-26-2009, 06:34 PM I thought about that article to. Who knows...
I think Bomar and the offense were just WRs sprinting up the field and him chucking it out there. That might have been a different late rounder though. So, I'm not sure.
I dont' keep up on the late rounds at all.
kdawg32086 03-29-2009, 01:35 AM I think Bomar has got to be a very safe pick. He's turned around his personal life, played well at top competition, and played extremely well at SHS. He's projected in the 3rd to 4th round slot so I think if he's there in the 3rd, he's a safer pick than a Stafford at #1. Less expensive, probably won't be awful and at worst, he's your #3 QB.
DrRay11 03-29-2009, 09:16 AM Frantz Joseph, MLB, Florida Atlantic.
Glenn 03-29-2009, 09:43 AM ^ballin'!
kdawg32086 04-08-2009, 01:52 PM Gerald McRath MLB Southern Miss
Guy was highly productive in college and could be a stud at the next level. Should be around when the 3rd round starts.
DrRay11 04-08-2009, 02:11 PM McRath is going to be too small to play MLB in our scheme.
kdawg32086 04-08-2009, 04:21 PM I agree that he's small right now but the thing I really like is the fact that he has the frame to support adding another 25-35 pounds of muscle. If he adds that weight, he could definitely be a starter for someone in this league. Worst case scenario, he gets move outside.
