View Full Version : Super Bowl XLIII - "Our" Cardinals vs. Steelers (Feb 1, 2009) Glenn 01-19-2009, 11:09 AM Vegas favors Steelers early for Super Bowl (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs2008/news/story?id=3843100) Glenn 01-19-2009, 11:11 AM Please put all non-Brenda Warner and non-Cardinal fan banter here. Timone 01-19-2009, 01:42 PM Cardinals to SHOCK THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 31-27 Glenn 01-19-2009, 01:43 PM So what's up with your guy Boldin, LDB? Also, WOTS is that about half the Cardinal team hates ownership and is pissed off about their contract situations. Timone 01-19-2009, 01:54 PM Quan and I go way back, I'd know if something was up. I can honestly say that it's just Quanny being Quanny. What he and the rest of the team are doing, and I'm going to need you to keep this on the down low, is throw off all the Cardinals haters out there by making them think like there's some sort of problem within. The Cardinals are a brilliantly run organization. It's just them employing another one of their brilliant tactics. Glenn 01-19-2009, 02:02 PM Winner's postgame tantrum (http://www.yahoo.com/s/1017852) In case some haven't heard about this. Timone 01-19-2009, 02:03 PM It's all a ploy, believe me. Timone 01-19-2009, 04:11 PM Let's win this one for Rod! http://venturebeat.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/rod_tidwell.jpg jturbo 01-19-2009, 05:15 PM Arizona-27 Pitt-20 The Cardinal dominance continues. Predicted by myself and a few other intelligent posters on this board. DennyMcLain 01-25-2009, 03:09 PM You can't spell "Courdinals" without :our: Timone 01-25-2009, 08:37 PM I'm thinking Breaston scores on a return and wins MVP honors, ala Desmond Howard. Timone 01-26-2009, 01:51 PM Word on the street is that Boldin and Haley had some sort of shouting match on the sidelines during the NFC Championship Game. It's true. WTFchris 01-26-2009, 02:20 PM Highest pass-run ratio: Super Bowl teams Year Team Passes Runs Ratio W-L Won Super Bowl? 2008 Arizona 658 340 1.94 9-7 ? 2002 Oakland 655 414 1.58 11-5 N 2004 Philadelphia 584 376 1.55 13-3 N 1996 New England 658 427 1.54 11-5 N 2002 Tampa Bay 608 414 1.47 12-4 Y 2001 St. Louis 591 416 1.42 14-2 N 2007 New England 607 451 1.35 16-0 N 1999 St. Louis 563 431 1.31 13-3 Y 2006 Indianapolis 572 439 1.30 12-4 Y 1986 Denver 587 455 1.29 11-5 N Timone 01-26-2009, 02:23 PM So how much of the crowd will be Steelers fans? I'll go with 98% Glenn 01-26-2009, 05:01 PM http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2009/0126/nfl_tomlin_whisenhunt_576.jpg Zekyl 01-26-2009, 08:38 PM Wow, slight difference in appearance, no? Timone 01-27-2009, 02:36 PM I like The Boss and all, but I'm going to puke the next time I see a video with "Glory Days" or Born to Run" playing. Timone 01-29-2009, 04:30 PM I'M FEELING SOME SPRINGSTEEN RIGHT NOW Glenn 01-31-2009, 09:05 AM I don't know if this was a mistake or not, but ESPN showed one of their "electoral maps" last night and it showed that all but 6 states in the U.S. think the CARDINALS are going to win. It was really shocking to me, which makes me think that it might have been a mistake. Glenn 01-31-2009, 10:26 AM I guess it's not a mistake. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/fp/flashPollResultsState?pollId=66552 Also, the spread is down to 6.5 at many places. Zekyl 01-31-2009, 11:02 AM People don't actually think they're going to win. People just want them to win so they're voting for them. I'd love to see Zona win a Super Bowl but more than likely the Steelers will thump them (even if its close I'll consider it thumping them) Glenn 01-31-2009, 02:57 PM I just remembered that Warner and Ben were my two QBs in fantasy football this year, lol. Timone 01-31-2009, 04:42 PM I don't think the Steelers are going to "thump" them at all, actually. Glenn 02-01-2009, 10:00 AM 4 hours of Chris Berman WHAT COULD BE BETTER? Glenn 02-01-2009, 01:30 PM It was a bit surprising that Tomlin selected the always-inspiring Phil Collins to play for the team for his big speech last night. Although I can see how "In the air tonight" could be motivating, I suppose. Timone 02-01-2009, 03:59 PM It was a bit surprising that Tomlin selected the always-inspiring Phil Collins to play for the team for his big speech last night. Although I can see how "In the air tonight" could be motivating, I suppose. I don't. Fuck that song. Glenn 02-01-2009, 04:53 PM Steelers 20 Cards 10 Timone 02-01-2009, 04:58 PM Let me just say that the Steelers/Seahawks SB was one of the most boring games I've ever watched. I'll be happy as long as this game isn't anything like that one. Cards 31, Steelers 27 - MVP: Steve Breaston. :kennythejet: Timone 02-01-2009, 05:01 PM Also, GLOOORY DAYS Tahoe 02-01-2009, 05:08 PM Holy shit, the game is actually getting close. Timone 02-01-2009, 05:15 PM I've got a hunch that nobody from the losing team will thank God. Timone 02-01-2009, 05:22 PM Lol, what does Roethlisberger need redemption for? It's understandable that he wants to play well in The Big Game, but last I checked he won that Superbowl. KP43 02-01-2009, 05:39 PM Why the fuck is Millen on NBC? He shouldn't be near a Super Bowl. Tahoe 02-01-2009, 05:46 PM Millen is utter shit Tahoe 02-01-2009, 05:53 PM Why watch Millen when you can watch WIPEOUT! Tahoe 02-01-2009, 06:09 PM Did you know or care that if you rotate the 'F' in Farrior 90 degrees to the left that it almost looks like Warrior? KP43 02-01-2009, 06:36 PM This looks like a terrible challenge by Arizona. KP43 02-01-2009, 06:38 PM Fuck me, I guess not. Tahoe 02-01-2009, 06:40 PM Challenge = minus 4 KP43 02-01-2009, 06:43 PM That challenge fucked my squares up. I had Pit-7, Arz-4. Tahoe 02-01-2009, 06:45 PM Who do you like KP...Pit or Cards? Tahoe 02-01-2009, 06:52 PM Ben underthrew him or that would've been 7 KP43 02-01-2009, 06:52 PM I'm rooting for the Cards. And yeah that should've been 6. Tahoe 02-01-2009, 07:46 PM Bruce Springsteen? WTF? I bet he makes that same damn pained face when he sings that he's been making for the last 4000 years. Tahoe 02-01-2009, 07:49 PM Holy bat frickin shit...what a play by Harrison. KP43 02-01-2009, 08:28 PM I missed Springsteen. Was he awesome? Tahoe 02-01-2009, 08:31 PM I have no idea, I went outside. And I can almost gurantee you he wasn't. Glenn 02-01-2009, 08:39 PM Incredible play by Harrison. If he goes down on the one inch line, no score. I just knew they would get a defensive TD, but I figured that Polamalu would get it. This game is pretty much unfolding exactly as I had imagined. Hopefully :we: can finish it off now. KP43 02-01-2009, 08:55 PM Arizona almost fucked themselves big time(again). Huge stand by the defense right there. Tahoe 02-01-2009, 08:56 PM Super Bowl comercials have sucked...unless I missed something. Tahoe 02-01-2009, 08:59 PM BRENDA! She looks better now then she did back then. KP43 02-01-2009, 09:01 PM Well I enjoyed that Transformers commercial....but nothing has made me laugh yet. Tahoe 02-01-2009, 09:12 PM Refs don't seem to be letting them play much Tahoe 02-01-2009, 09:19 PM Sure..now the refs finally call a penalty on the Steelers when the Cards completed the pass anyway :emo kid: Tahoe 02-01-2009, 09:19 PM If the Steelers are going to win at least have Santonio be the MVP Tahoe 02-01-2009, 09:25 PM "IF" the Cards would have scored instead of being intercepted at the end of the half, this game would be TOTALLY different. Obviously that deserves a duh, but 1 play makes a HUGE difference in this game. Tahoe 02-01-2009, 09:32 PM Way to go Ike give the Cards 15 more Tahoe 02-01-2009, 09:34 PM LMAO on the holding on Gandy...he damn near strangled him Tahoe 02-01-2009, 09:36 PM Wow that was a weak attempt by the Cards at 3rd and 20 Tahoe 02-01-2009, 09:42 PM Man these refs are 'inducing' themselves in this game way WAY too much. KP43 02-01-2009, 09:43 PM There goes my money. Let's go Cards! Tahoe 02-01-2009, 09:44 PM Card go score, then the Steelers tie it up with a last second FG and we go into 9 OTs...is what I'm hoping. Tahoe 02-01-2009, 09:45 PM Wow this has turned into a great game to watch. KP43 02-01-2009, 09:45 PM There he is. Wow, no one around him. Tahoe 02-01-2009, 09:47 PM There he is. Wow, no one around him. He has a way of doing that to Defenses though jturbo 02-01-2009, 09:48 PM My Cardinals really know how to put on a show!!! Tahoe 02-01-2009, 09:49 PM Man did Ben ever escape with his ass right there. Tahoe 02-01-2009, 09:53 PM Go away Andrea...I could care less what you think either. Tahoe 02-01-2009, 09:54 PM Tie it up! First OT in SB ever KP43 02-01-2009, 09:56 PM C'mon, hold them to a FG. KP43 02-01-2009, 09:57 PM Holy shit what a catch. Tahoe 02-01-2009, 09:57 PM Both feet down...damn, no ot, but one helluva drive by the Steelers Tahoe 02-01-2009, 09:58 PM SH for MVP...PLEASE Tahoe 02-01-2009, 09:59 PM That was a great celebration by SH...MVP worth, imo. Tahoe 02-01-2009, 10:04 PM How bout a Troy P pick right about here? KP43 02-01-2009, 10:06 PM Fuck. Tahoe 02-01-2009, 10:08 PM These Cardinals played a damn good game. They didn't win but a great season for them. Props to both teams really. Tahoe 02-01-2009, 10:08 PM Come on Obama give the team a call Tahoe 02-01-2009, 10:09 PM They'll prolly give the MVP to Ben cuz he's the QB but SH deserves it, imo. MoTown 02-01-2009, 10:28 PM The pain is worse because a fucking Buckeye won the Superbowl. WTFchris 02-01-2009, 10:58 PM Damn buckeye. Oh wait, I picked him as MVP! Zip Goshboots 02-01-2009, 11:00 PM Arizona-27 Pitt-20 The Cardinal dominance continues. Predicted by myself and a few other intelligent posters on this board. Wow, yeah, you guys are a bunch of smart motherfuckers. Timone 02-02-2009, 04:10 AM Hell of a game. Best finish to a SB in quite some time. Timone 02-02-2009, 04:15 AM Also, as someone who has never cared about the commercials, I can honestly say they sucked this year. Glenn 02-02-2009, 06:52 AM That was fun. Tomlin is a really cool cat, and he's only 36. Maybe he'll stick around 30 years or so. Lots of memorable/awesome plays (Harrison, Fitz, Holmes, etc.) and a close finish should have made even those without a rooting interest happy. Although my blood pressure has probably never been higher. And as for Holmes, you are a stinking Buckeye, you fucked my fantasy team down the stretch, but I forgive you. 6, bitches. Wizzle 02-02-2009, 08:28 AM hell of a game but did I miss something? When did the Steelers switch to the Seahawks colors? http://nfl.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/p5651622t130.jpg WTFchris 02-02-2009, 08:30 AM I wasn't a fan of the officiating. It put a damper on an otherwise great game. Harrison should have been ejected (not sure that would have made a difference later). The face masking personal foul in the 4th was BS. Holmes had his hand in the face of the defender (call both or neither). On the other hand, there were probably even more Arizona holds missed (they simply couldn't contain the OLBs coming. Great game though. jturbo 02-02-2009, 08:39 AM Wow, yeah, you guys are a bunch of smart motherfuckers. Well, I guess this is just the start of the Cardinal dynasty. Next year they'll go undefeated and so on for the next five decades. I guess we had to start somewhere. Glenn 02-02-2009, 08:43 AM The Cardinals have 15 unrestricted free agents and are $40m under the cap. It will be interesting to see if they overpay for guys when other teams come after them. Timone 02-02-2009, 06:40 PM Fuck a Six Pack. I say they call this One for the Cock. Glenn 02-02-2009, 06:44 PM Fuck a Six Pack. I say they call this One for the Cock. :cogent: Timone 02-02-2009, 09:04 PM So, if you had to compile a list of clutch QBs, where would Ben be on yours? For me, he's probably first or second. DE 02-03-2009, 02:42 AM So, if you had to compile a list of clutch QBs, where would Ben be on yours? For me, he's probably first or second. Out of the QB's today I'd give Brady the nod at one for sure and he and Manning would be fighting it out for two (with a slight nod to Ben maybe right now). For QB's in my lifetime he'd be competing with Elway as well and Joe Montana is still the undisputed number 1 clutch QB. He hasn't been retired that long really and I have no idea how he's already been forgotten. My only guess would have to be because of the hype machine that is sports media today. Zekyl 02-04-2009, 09:09 AM Out of the QB's today I'd give Brady the nod at one for sure and he and Manning would be fighting it out for two (with a slight nod to Ben maybe right now). Which is the main reason Ben is now considered in the top clutch QBs. He's good, don't get me wrong, but is he really THAT good? Last year Eli was suddenly one of the most clutch QBs just because he made a couple big throws, this year its Ben, next year it will be whoever comes up big in the Super Bowl, its just a continuous cycle of everyone trying to find "the best" based on an extremely small sample. Timone 02-04-2009, 09:11 AM Yeah, other than the fact Ben orchestrated game winning drives all season long. Glenn 02-04-2009, 10:26 AM Yeah, other than the fact Ben orchestrated game winning drives all season long. And that. Vinny 02-04-2009, 10:49 PM Which is the main reason Ben is now considered in the top clutch QBs. He's good, don't get me wrong, but is he really THAT good? Last year Eli was suddenly one of the most clutch QBs just because he made a terrible throw that should have been picked and David Tyree miraculously grabbed it off his head. This year its Ben, next year it will be whoever comes up big in the Super Bowl, its just a continuous cycle of everyone trying to find "the best" based on an extremely small sample. Fixed Zekyl 02-05-2009, 08:38 AM Very true, but a lot of people were talking about him making a "clutch" play there because of how he broke away from getting sacked to make the throw. My point was just that we spend too much time trying to catagorize everything instead of just enjoying it. Fool 02-05-2009, 08:41 AM Sports aren't complicated.
