The FAA confirmed US Airways Flight 1549, an Airbus A320 headed from New York's LaGuardia Airport to Charlotte, North Carolina, was down in the river following a failed takeoff. The U.S. Coast Guard said units were also responding, and a ferry on site was dropping life jackets into the water. Tahoe 01-15-2009, 04:04 PM It looks like the pilot ditched it pretty well...as far as ditchings go. Tahoe 01-15-2009, 04:08 PM So they sucked in a bunch of birds at the end of the runway. The pilot ditched it. The plane is floating a lil bit...but its also floating down the river according to some chick reporter. I'm impressed, and I bet that pilot gets a birthday-quality BJ tonight. Glenn 01-16-2009, 01:40 PM I heard someone suggest on the radio that this guy be selected to do the coin flip at the Super Bowl. That sounds like a pretty good idea. Tahoe 01-16-2009, 01:42 PM The Prez called him, you know this guy could do nothing but interviews for a year. Glenn 01-16-2009, 01:44 PM Apparantly it was a pretty smooth landing.
