'Those people'....someone who doesn't like to have ice cycles hanging off his balls?

Actually I was referring to the skiiing.
I knew.

Oh, I thought you were talking about the coat. Friggin thing would be perfect for those Chicago winters...think about it.

Skiing...I love it. But I stopped doing it for a long time. If I wasn't so awesome at it, I wouldn't do it.

I have not worn a winter coat in IL for about 5 years. I man up, and deal with the cold. Get with it! Really it's just because of the few winter days a year I spend in the upper half of Wisonsin. After that, IL is easy.

(I was just givin you shit about the skiing because, if anything I snowboard)

I guess this is a perfect place for me to play the "I'm old" Card.

I ski, cuz I'm old. Boarding looks really hard.

Boarding is harder. I tried it last year and I've been doing it ever since. It's a lot easier to get to a decent level in skiing (and a lot less painful).

I tell ya what, skiing is by far the most dangerous activity I have every participated in. Going down a black diamond and you lose control, not good.

Snowboarding just seems to constricting to me. I would hate not being able to move my feet individually.

The one time I came close to doing snowboarding on a black diamond course in the Rockies, I was flat on my butt for much of the experience.

I would hate having my feet 7 feet apart, hence the reason I board.

I"m buying what Mo is sellin there.

If you get caught in some ugly on a steep, steep, really steep part of the mountain, moving your legs individually is luxury.

I agree. I also hate walking down the hill to pick up my skis and poles when I wipe out. I also hate walking around in constricting boots that make me walk like I shit my pants.

BTW, I hurt my left knee playing basketball quite a while ago. It's not an issue most of the time, but skiing just wrecks it. About half way through the day it starts aching the rest of the time. When I board, no pain at all because there is no pressure on your knees at all.

The only real drawback (after you get past the first few days of falling) is flat spots. You have no poles to push you along. Most runs are no problem but boarders will avoid the few runs with those long flat spots.

And if you get caught in some deep powder, you sink. not so on a board (or so I've been told since I'm still on the green and blue runs).

You pretty much have to go searching for deep powder, imo...I'm talking waist high stuff...that IS hard to find. Rockies and out here not as hard.

You have to be one of the first on the hill and and hope there was a kick ass storm last night. Deep powder can be avoided really easy.

Most skis nowadays, can handle the 12" powder pretty good, imo.

You don't use boots when you snowboard?

WTFchris

Nope.

Of course I do. But you can actually walk in those things almost normal, compared to those clunkers you have to wear to ski.

I've decided either these (http://www.backcountry.com/store/K2S0529/K2-Apache-Xplorer-Ski-w-Marker-MX-140-Binding.html) or these (http://www.volkl.com/ski/skis/UN3.php) for an end of season sale purchase.

Hopefully there will be some sizes left. We aren't getting any rain, which means no snow, which means not many skis come off the shelves. Might be a good year to purchase.
