It's overhyped. We really don't feel it too much in L.A., socially-speaking. It's life as usual. Los Angeles really doesn't follow the shit-trail from Sacramento. We've got our own economy out here. Some City government jobs could go, but hopefully (if we're smart), it'll be that fat bitch behind the desk who's sole duty is to be rude and yap on her cell phone to her girlfriends which making $$$ with full benefits.

Really, I see this recession as a sort of "cleansing" of the shit, almost like an economic colonic. As for gifts, my suggestion is to focus not on the gift, but the company. reward the good companies, punish the bad.

Yeah, your state racked up 14 billion in over spending on state employee salaries.

Like our Federal Gov't, CA's economy is big enough to erase deficits when things turn around. But don't get me started on the states employees union.

When I called Blagojevich about that Senate seat, he assured me that it wasn't a $50-or-less gift. Only Barack Obama seemed to think it was that cheap, or so Blago and his wife told me. Hopefully, someone didn't record our phone conversation... it might be embarrassing.
