View Full Version : Minnesota's on the phone... Glenn 12-12-2008, 10:09 AM What say you? http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=2389~2769~3235&teams=8~16~16&te=&cash= Glenn 12-12-2008, 10:10 AM Inspired by: Ben (Grosse Pointe, Mich.): Would you trade Rodney Stuckey to Minnesota for Al Jefferson if you could? Langlois: It’s purely theoretical, of course, because the Pistons aren’t in position to give up the point guard they handed the future to by trading Chauncey Billups, and the Timberwolves are already seriously lacking in frontcourt talent. But as much as I like Jefferson, Stuckey’s the pick. Stuckey has prototypical point guard size and skills. Jefferson, though he’s a wondrous and inventive interior scorer, is undersized for the position and I wonder how his scoring ability would translate to the steady diet of quality teams he’d see in the postseason – if Minnesota ever gets there. Also look at the way the NBA has trended, with increasing emphasis on point guard play. MoTown 12-12-2008, 10:12 AM Why did that trade succeed? Jefferson makes nearly double the money that those two make combined. Glenn 12-12-2008, 10:15 AM BYC MoTown 12-12-2008, 10:21 AM NYPD Thanks for the random letters, Glenn. It helped. Glenn 12-12-2008, 10:24 AM http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm#Q73 MoTown 12-12-2008, 10:25 AM You're a dick. Glenn 12-12-2008, 10:26 AM Why do you say that? You seem angry. MoTown 12-12-2008, 10:29 AM <---- MoTwon today I fully admit I know next to nothing about the salary cap. I pride myself on the lack of knowledge. I just figured a simple explination of the Base Year Compensation would have been better than forwarding me the handbook of the NBA's Salary Cap. Anyways, enough grumpiness from MoTwon. Yes, I would do that deal. Glenn 12-12-2008, 10:31 AM Understood. It wasn't intentionally dicky, I just thought that Larry could explain it better than I ever could. I added a poll but forgot to make the votes public, so fuck me. geerussell 12-12-2008, 10:44 AM Once I noticed the poll wasn't public I found the courage to vote yes. WTFchris 12-12-2008, 10:56 AM Why would Minny do this deal? They have Foye and McCants, plus Telfair. They'd have Love up front and that's it. MoTown 12-12-2008, 11:13 AM It's not about Minnesota doing the deal. It's about Joe doing the deal. Plus McHale is still the GM. Why wouldn't he do it? Glenn 12-12-2008, 11:17 AM McHale got demoted, he's just the coach now, but you're right about the first part. MoTown 12-12-2008, 11:23 AM I thought he was still in charge of personnel. I guess I need to get a better grasp on "my" team. gusman 12-12-2008, 11:24 AM I would trade stuckey for OJ mayo straight up, no wait, I would want ketchup too. WTFchris 12-12-2008, 11:24 AM It depends on the chances of getting other big men. Does he think he can get Boozer? I don't, but if so he's a better post player than Al. Can he move RIP and Max for Amare? Will Bosh sign here? If you don't know you can get a better big man, then I would probably do it. Hermy 12-12-2008, 11:45 AM Holy hell yes. Jesus. WTFchris 12-12-2008, 12:02 PM Well, my point is that if you call up Kerr and he'll do RIP/Max for Amare...and you call up Bosh and he says he's leaning towards coming...maybe you pass on that deal. Maybe you just pass if you can get Amare. Certainly other deals would keep you from doing this one. Zekyl 12-12-2008, 12:08 PM You definitely pass if you can get Amare. They're both down low post players. You'd keep Stuckey and trade for Amare, Sheed pulls his man up top because he's allergic to the rim or some shit like that and Amare dominates down low. I'd rather have a starting lineup of Stuckey, AI, Prince, Amare, Sheed than AI, Rip, Prince, Jefferson, Sheed. Glenn 05-15-2009, 02:01 PM What say you? http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=2389~2769~3235&teams=8~16~16&te=&cash= Bump. Throw in #15 or Kwame or whatever. Joe Asberry 05-15-2009, 02:08 PM aint gonna happen...because everyone would do this trade, Al Jefferson alreadly is a great player + he's a bigman... Fool 05-15-2009, 02:08 PM First I'm going to make that Wade for Bynum deal. Glenn 05-15-2009, 02:10 PM I THOUGHT STUCKEY WAS VALUABLE? AREN'T PGS GOLD? Fool 05-15-2009, 02:13 PM Jefferson was traded for KG. Stuckey has never been that valuable. Zekyl 05-15-2009, 02:59 PM AREN'T PGS GOLD? Ummm........ Stuckey is a combo guard gusman 05-15-2009, 03:17 PM if stuckey ever makes the all star team I will be amazed. MoTown 05-15-2009, 04:13 PM Gl'enn's still a dick. I'd still do the deal. Pharaoh 05-16-2009, 08:54 AM So is the deal now Stuckey, Amir plus #15 or Kwame? Hermy 05-16-2009, 10:18 AM So is the deal now Stuckey, Amir plus #15 or Kwame? why does it matter? Wilfredo Ledezma 05-16-2009, 10:38 AM Amir did leave a lasting impression at the Target Center when he did that windmill for his first NBA bucket. Maybe they'd fall for the 'future star' trap and bite. Too bad McHale isn't the GM anymore. Pharaoh 05-17-2009, 05:28 AM It doesn't really matter Hermy. I just wanted to be certain of the parts that were included before I stated my opinion. |
