Yeah it's been a big topic here on radio. Sparty fans think it's great and Michigan fans think it's classless.

He's obsessed. I hope for his sake Rich Rod doesn't turn the program around and dominate State again. Because if that happens he'll be a broken man. He'll probably start hurting himself.

It's clear Dantonio is just infatuated with Michigan. From stooping down to Mike Hart's level last year by looking like a fool calling out another teams player, to random puns.

Fact is, he beat UM this year. But know this, Mark: you we're just one of nine teams that also beat Michigan this year, and none of those other coaches (Whittingham, Weis, Zook, Amstutz, Paterno, Tiller, Fitzgerald or Tressell) even bothered to take a shot at U of M, probably has something to do with them having more class/respect.

Embarrassing will be getting your ass handed to you in a bowl game and knowing that even a successful season compared to what's happening in Ann Arbor can't get you a better recruiting class or sustainable success against your instate obsession.

whats funny is that dantonio seemed like a fairly streight up, head on his shoulders type coach when he went to east lansing. i guess you become sparty-ized after a while, probably due to overexposure to the buckdow's of the world.

I'm not a big football fan. I can watch the game and know what's going on and mildly enjoy it, but it doesn't stir my soul at all. The only games I might tune in for are:

1) U-M vs. MSU. I'm marginally a U-M fan... it's just my upbringing,.
2) Lions vs. whoever on Turkey Day. I'm marginally a "whoever" fan. :)
3) perhaps the Super Bowl if I'm going to some friend's bowl party

The way U-Ms been sucking, losing at home to the likes of fucking Toledo (2008's Appalachian State), they should be embarrassed. They deserve a shot or two from their in-state historical rivals. If it stokes some fires, fine.

Ordinarily I'd agree with ya, Moxie, and go so far as to add that this is just another example of Wolverine fans' and their Gaydar that is always on the lookout for shots aimed at Michigan.
But here, Dantonio does his perfect impression of the passive-agrressive Tressel, and when a guy wants to keep getting biblical and lectuaring about life, yet goes into complete asshole mode every chance he gets, it is beyond calling out your rival.
UM was so irrelevant to this conversation, and I'm sure that he has seen how UM and RR have been absolutely blasted by the media in general and the Detroit media in particular. This comment is just blatant hypocrisy, arrogance, and deflection on his part, and he continues to look like a petulant brat even during a season in which he should be more worried about solidifying himself within Michigan at a time when Michigan appears to be chasing its tail. It's this kind of shit that tells me he won't be at MSU very long, and may in fact jump if offered by any of the other biggies that are opening up after this season.
