Cross 11-20-2008, 03:40 AM INDIANA BLOOMINGTON HELLS YEAH
sorry if this was a stupid thread but never been so fucking happy in my life. I'm in a fucking competitive school where its full of fucks who dedicate their whole life to studying. i never sat at my desk and studied for over an hour before. considering the fact that im the only one in my grade who didnt take a single AP course and im ranked 3rd to last in my class, im fucking proud of myself.
Vinny 11-20-2008, 03:59 AM Congrats, bro. We'll submit your forum transfer to WTFIndiana.com.
Vinny 11-20-2008, 04:24 AM Sorry if I sounded like a dick, congrats for real man. You should be proud, and you're going to have a blast. Do you live in Indiana now or is it a big move?

Not sure, but I think he's in Korea.
Black Dynamite 11-20-2008, 09:05 AM Cross in America, and indiana no less.
Let the American corruption begin!
DrRay11 11-20-2008, 09:08 AM Congrats man, definitely something to which you can look forward.
i never sat at my desk and studied for over an hour before.
I'm sure you already know, but that's going to have to change if you're looking to do well in college.
MoTown 11-20-2008, 09:14 AM Apparently you can just pay to have all of your papers written though.
Conrats, nonetheless. College is a very fun experience - live it up. And avoid the clap.
Wizzle 11-20-2008, 09:20 AM my first attempt at college was one semester at CMU.....they politely asked me to leave......Cross, congrats and try to do better than I did. Here's my tip, actually go to your classes.
Glenn 11-20-2008, 10:24 AM Cross just got stickied, btw.
MoTown 11-20-2008, 10:34 AM Well deserved.
gusman 11-20-2008, 10:54 AM good luck and here's to staying focused
Glenn 11-20-2008, 10:55 AM good luck and here's to staying focused
Spoken like a true pro.
DennyMcLain 11-20-2008, 10:59 AM Nice action, Cross. Make your parents proud.
Jesus Shuttlesworth 11-20-2008, 01:04 PM Congrats.
My advice as both someone who's been booted from one college and graduated from another: go to class your first year (you can save skipping for your senior semesters). You only have to pay attention 60% of the time if you want...but GO TO CLASS. Trust me on this one.
Glenn 11-20-2008, 01:06 PM Also, if you see Bobby Knight walking around on campus, walk up to him and yell "WHAT'S UP, KNIGHT?" in his face.

Good pull. I almost forgot about that.
I have forgotten. What's it about?
Hermy 11-20-2008, 01:10 PM Find a gas station on the outskirts of town. Buy ounces of weed from a kid there for $50 each. Now divide it into 4 bags and sell 3 of those to college kids for $40 each. Now you have weed and some cash to burn at Big Boy when you get the munchies.
Tahoe 11-20-2008, 01:20 PM Congrats Cross...Study hard, work your ass off and if all else fails, cheat.
Good luck.
Cross 11-21-2008, 06:32 PM thanks everyone. and ill keep the advice in mind.
indiana wasnt one of my top priorities. I had Michigan state, penn state, rutgers and UIUC as my top schools. ill keep everyone posted i guess.
thanks for the sticky and just really thanks wtfdetroit
Glenn 11-21-2008, 06:34 PM You owe it all to us, I suppose.
ATLIONS FAN 11-23-2008, 06:43 PM Cross, when you get to campus, don't be like McFadden:Wrap your whacker before you attack her

im ranked 3rd to last in my class
<confused> What were your test scores?
One piece of advice I'd make to any frosh -- don't take a full load of courses in your first semester. You're going to have enough shit to get used to -- new place to live, doing your own laundry, probably roommates (especially if they're roommates from fucking Indiana, speaking from first-hand experience), maybe a part time job, longer class sizes, etc. Get yourself into some routines for daily living and studying.

"3rd to last in my class"?? What the fuck does that mean? I'd say that if Indiana accepted you, you're a real good bet for getting a yes from Saprty. Trust me on that one. Indiana is actually a hell of a school. I'd go there just for something different (unless you're not from Michigan).
Zip Goshboots 11-28-2008, 05:09 PM One thing you must know, Cross: The general population of adults over the age of 25 in America with a college degree is about 25%. The degree will put you in pretty good company (assuming that you make it, I predict failure). But on message boards, the percentage of guys with college degrees goes up to about 722%. So, message board guy is pretty damn smart, and to come on here bragging because you got accepted shows the lack of respect you have for the intranets and the wealth of knowledge and wisdom to be found here.

You should probably listen to this guy. He tends to know what he's talking about.
You don't get to start bragging until you've got 2 degrees and you subscribe to some fine publications.
DrRay11 11-29-2008, 02:35 PM Publications that are for, say, the intellectual elite?
Zekyl 12-03-2008, 01:34 PM Those would be the sort.

This is good advice. My first semester of college:
Chemistry + Lab (5 credits, 8-9 am every day, Lab Th 3 hours)
Calculus 1 (5 credits, 9-10 am every day)
Freshman Comp (4 credits, M/W 2 hrs)
History (3 credits, T/Th 1.5 hrs)
I could barely pay attention in Chemistry and Calc 1 at those hours (expecially given the subject matter of Calc) I managed a 3.0 in both because I was good at math and science, but I learned my lesson on scheduling.
Give youself little breaks if the subject matter is boring. 12 credits is full time, so that is probably all you need to take. Once you get into classes for your major then taking a bigger load isn't as bad.

Got memory?
:scared:
5 credits for calc 1 and 2 extra credits for a lab?
That seems odd to me.
WTFchris 12-03-2008, 03:12 PM Got memory?
:scared:
No, I guessed. chem and calc are definitely correct. I don't know about the others (which year I took those). At any rate I did have those two to start every day, and I was taking 18-19 credits. That much I know.
Why was Calc 1 so many credits? And was it common a Central (right?) that labs were worth 2 credits?
WTFchris 12-03-2008, 03:27 PM calc 1 was a 5 hour class, thus 5 credits
Chemistry was 5 hours also, and I think the lab was another 1 credit, but a 2 hour lab.
Also, those classes were not at CMU. I went to community college my first two years because I paid my own way.

Also, I did too.
Timone 03-10-2013, 08:02 PM Hey Cross, congrats on the Big Ten Championship!
