Hermy 11-11-2008, 04:46 PM Didn't they beat MSU last year? GVSU bitch. Write it down. Somewhere here we have a nice gamethread. Jethro34 11-11-2008, 07:44 PM UM getting worked on the offensive boards in the first half. But right now MTU, with 22 pts, has 4 more than Manny (who has 18 of UM's 40). MoTown 11-12-2008, 12:05 PM Yeah Michigan is currently in first place in the Big Ten. Get used to looking up at "us" in the standings, Sparty. How's the view from down there? (Message to Spartan fans: This post was 100% sarcasm. Don't hurt yourself or others after reading that post.) FillyCheezeSteak 11-12-2008, 01:28 PM Yeah Michigan is currently in first place in the Big Ten. Get used to looking up at "us" in the standings, Sparty. How's the view from down there? (Message to Spartan fans: This post was 100% sarcasm. Don't hurt yourself or others after reading that post.) Don't forget that Manny Sims is leading not only the Big Ten, but the country in scoring at 30 points a game. Quite a feat for the young man. Wizzle 11-12-2008, 03:42 PM lol @ "Manny Sims" Jethro34 11-12-2008, 04:18 PM Since Manny has 30, and Sims has 10, does that mean Manny Sims has 40? UM is a freaking powerhouse! Manny Sims = 40 ppg Manny Harris = 30 ppg That's the top 2 in the nation! D Sims is 2nd in the nation in rebounding, the team is tops in the nation in FG%, 3rd in offense, 5th in rebounding, 4th in 3 pt %, 2 true freshmen at UM are 9th and 15th respectively in the nation in assists per game. You can't stop this shit. Seriously, no team in the entire country has more wins than UM. (note: most of the points made above will be nullified within hours) MoTown 11-12-2008, 04:28 PM You can't stop this shit. Seriously, no team in the entire country has more wins than UM. (note: most of the points made above will be nullified within hours) You're already wrong. Duke is 2-0. I expect more from you, Jeth. I figured you would know all 350+ NCAA DI teams records. FillyCheezeSteak 11-12-2008, 06:17 PM lol @ "Manny Sims" WOW, how drunk was I this afternoon? I should be subjected to a 10 minute lecture from Bukdow and Dr. Tre for punishment. Jethro34 11-12-2008, 10:16 PM You're already wrong. Duke is 2-0. I expect more from you, Jeth. I figured you would know all 350+ NCAA DI teams records. My bad, I had forgotten about their game the previous night. Well, we're 2-0 now as well. I'm actually (being serious now) quite concerned. First, UM started off 2-0 last year and went 7-21 after that. These two opponents have been truly inferior, and yet both have dominated on the offensive boards, and UM has had turnover problems as well. Yes, the team appears to have a better grasp on the Beilein game. It looks like there is an 8 man rotation with a handful of minutes for the rest of the bench. An understanding of the personnel is much better than what it was a year ago. I'm just not sure how much improved they'll be. So what happens when UM plays a team that shoots better than 36 or 29%, as the first two have? Jethro34 11-13-2008, 07:12 AM By the way, next week should include some nice games to finish off the 2K Sports Classic. The Final Four (see, UM already made it to the Final Four in only Beilien's 2nd year) will be Duke, Michigan, Southern Illinois, and probably UCLA. Of course, it's quite likely UCLA will destroy UM and Duke should be able to take care of the Salukis, providing a nice early season matchup between UCLA and Duke, but it will be a nice chance to see what UM can do against a real opponent. As you may recall UM started last season off 2-0 before facing back-to-back top 10 opponents in Georgetown and Butler, the first game at GU and the second in Alaska. At least this time they'll get the chance to rebound with matchups against Norfolk State and Savannah State before facing Maryland (on the road) and Duke. FillyCheezeSteak 11-13-2008, 05:51 PM Does Michigan get to play SIU in the consolation game in NYC or is it just one and done over there? Wilfredo Ledezma 11-13-2008, 09:18 PM Why hasn't Laval Lucas-Perry played yet? Wasn't last year his red-shirt since he left Arizona early?? Also what's up with Kelvin Grady not getting any minutes?? I'd be more optomistic about our 2-0 start if we still had Ekpe. Jethro34 11-13-2008, 09:55 PM Why hasn't Laval Lucas-Perry played yet? Wasn't last year his red-shirt since he left Arizona early?? Also what's up with Kelvin Grady not getting any minutes?? I'd be more optomistic about our 2-0 start if we still had Ekpe. LLP had to sit out a full year. Since he didn't officially transfer until December or January, he'll have to wait until a year from then to play. He has been practicing with the team the entire year, however. MoTown 11-24-2008, 02:21 PM Welp, after the Duke game, Michigan is back in the cellar of the Big Ten. How does last place taste? Wilfredo Ledezma 11-25-2008, 12:46 PM Norfolk State tonight...Savannah State on Saturday... how are either of those schools D1? Wizzle 11-26-2008, 02:47 PM http://i.walmartimages.com/i/p/00/02/63/88/89/0002638889486_150X150.jpg I believe in now MoTown 11-26-2008, 03:37 PM http://i.walmartimages.com/i/p/00/02/63/88/89/0002638889486_150X150.jpg I believe in now "We" beat the shit out of the Spartans last night. So what if they're not the "correct" Spartans. Dantonio wouldn't care if he beat the shit out of a youth basketball team named the Wolverines. Wolverines are wolverines to him. I heard he hunts live wild wolverines and tears their heart out when he captures them. Pride comes before the fall. Glenn 11-26-2008, 03:46 PM :we: Moodini31 11-27-2008, 10:31 AM LLP had to sit out a full year. Since he didn't officially transfer until December or January, he'll have to wait until a year from then to play. He has been practicing with the team the entire year, however. LLP is going to be sick! I was watching the game on the Big Ten Network vs. Norfolk St. tonight and Tim McCormick (I know he's a U-M slappy) said LLP will be the best PG at Michigan since Rumeal Robinson. I know it's tough to be better than the likes of Avery Queen and Mike Gotfredson, but we've also had some good guys in there like Jalen Rose, Dugan Fife, and Daniel Horton. I watched a highlight video on him from some open gyms at Arizona on rivals and he was killing it. Smooth handles, silky jumpshot, excellent quickness and jumping ability and dropped a few no look passes. I was impressed. I wish I could post it here, but this is the best I can do. A few highlights from HS. (Plus a sweet soundtrack!) inR_Upi__f8 Jethro34 11-27-2008, 01:03 PM Yeah, I was reading an article that interviewed McCormick and one of the questions was about LLP. His first comment was that LLP will immediately be the best defender on the floor. He's also a good enough shooter that opposing defenses will have to be more honest covering Manny. Wilfredo Ledezma 11-27-2008, 10:33 PM So much for Sparty being a Top Ten team. OWN3D by the Terps... Frauds! Jethro34 11-28-2008, 11:30 AM So much for Sparty being a Top Ten team. OWN3D by the Terps... Frauds! Crap. UM has to play Maryland at Maryland on Wednesday (same day MSU tilts with UNC). Looks like ACC dominance over the Big Ten continues to roll along. Wilfredo Ledezma 11-28-2008, 11:45 AM What a major let down for MSU heading into the big game Vs UNC this week. That game was supposed to be two undefeated teams in the Top 5, clashing at Ford Field. Now it's just UNC vs. 'middle of the pack ranked team'. And after watching UNC obliterate Notre Dame, it doesn't look good for Sparty. Raymar Morgan might be the biggest dog in college basketball. He has all the tools, physically, to be a dominant player, and unless he's playing some mid-major team that's under .500 or Lake Superior State, he's nowhere to be found. And Izzo needs to shorten up his bench. He needs to put down the Hubie Brown Coaching Bible. There's NO reason to be going 11 or 12 deep. Dahlman, Ibok, Draymond Green, maybe even Marquise Gray---these are all guys that shouldn't be seeing the floor in close games. Just because you have the luxury of 'depth', doesn't mean you should rely on it. Walton/Allen/Summers/Lucious/Morgan/Suton/Lucas/Roe...and that's it. D's Nuts 11-28-2008, 12:04 PM And Izzo needs to update his offense. We have athletes to run people out of the gym. We should be pushing it the whole game, pressuring everything. See NC, Kansas, Memphis....... Jethro34 11-28-2008, 05:56 PM The deal with depth is that a guy like Izzo who couldn't stop talking about how deep they were before the season started should NOT have to make comments about Suton being out and Roe's minutes being limited being a depth concern. Which is it Tom? And speaking of Toms, weren't Spartan fans talking about the wonderful development of Herzog? Seems like a Suton injury should have opened up minutes for TH. Tahoe 11-28-2008, 09:21 PM Morgan wasn't smellin what Izzo was cookin. It looked like he was mouthing off back at Izzo when Izzo was chewin on him. bukdow 11-28-2008, 10:50 PM So much for Sparty being a Top Ten team. OWN3D by the Terps... Frauds! The same Maryland team that beat North carolina last January. bukdow 11-28-2008, 10:52 PM Morgan wasn't smellin what Izzo was cookin. It looked like he was mouthing off back at Izzo when Izzo was chewin on him. Ya know, as much as I respect Izzo for what he has done and is doing, I would punch that little fucker right in the nose if he got in my shit the way he does some of those players. He is lucky Marquis Gray doesn`t pick him up and body slam him. Tahoe 11-29-2008, 12:19 AM Ya know, as much as I respect Izzo for what he has done and is doing, I would punch that little fucker right in the nose if he got in my shit the way he does some of those players. He is lucky Marquis Gray doesn`t pick him up and body slam him. He screams way to much, imo, agree. Btw, you agree with me in the AI discussion too, don't you? bukdow 11-29-2008, 10:43 AM He screams way to much, imo, agree. Btw, you agree with me in the AI discussion too, don't you? If you think Iverson is nothing more than a punk that serves only to cause problems and distractions, then yes, I agree with you. MoTown 12-03-2008, 10:28 AM 3-3 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge with 5 games tonight. I don't think the Big Ten wins it, but it seems like they get closer and closer every year. Indiana vs. (17) Wake Forest Penn State vs. Georgia Tech Michigan vs. Maryland (12) MSU vs. (1) North Carolina Florida State vs. Northwestern Indiana gets blown out, Penn State has a chance to win, Michigan should win (doesn't mean they will), MSU probably takes the L, and Northwestern has a shot. I still say the Big Ten goes 1-4 tonight, 2-3 if they're lucky. Wilfredo Ledezma 12-03-2008, 03:09 PM Both Iowa & Illinois should've won last night... But then again, Ohio State should've lost had Miami's PG not gotten tossed... Tonight the ACC will separate themselves |
