MoTown 11-04-2008, 11:25 AM ELECTORAL COLLEGE VOTES, FOOL!
gawd...
Tahoe 11-04-2008, 12:08 PM Thank God the AI trade happened. It will stop me from going into a deep depression with the BO win. He will tax the rich, corporations and drag this country down with his socialism. JM ran a shitty campaign or he could have won this thing, me thinks.
And thanks to Bush and the House's spending, we end up with BO. BOOOOOOOOOOO!
But it is a historic day in that we will elect our first AA as Prez. Props to us. I feel good about that, I just wish it was Colin Powell or something. Not this tax and spend lib.
Tahoe 11-04-2008, 12:10 PM And I voted last week.
Glenn 11-04-2008, 12:48 PM Can we find an angrier pic of McCain?
MOLA1 11-04-2008, 01:23 PM Starting at 6 PM EST the map will start streaming live election results for the presidential, Senate and House races. You can either hover over a state or district to see the results or click on the state or district to see results down to the county level.

Zip Goshboots 11-04-2008, 01:40 PM I know nothing about BarakObama, but
"tax and spend lib"sounds betterthan the truth:That Reagan and Bush juniorhave run up the biggest deficits this country has ever seen.
WTFchris 11-04-2008, 02:00 PM My prediction on final score is a 338-200 win for Obama (with the popular vote being closer than the electoral map suggests).
Uncle Mxy 11-04-2008, 03:17 PM Popular vote is generally much closer than electoral vote.
Remember, if you are in a state that is assuredly Dem or assuredly Rep and doesn't have a lot of contentious ballot issue, you may not have a lot of incentive to vote. That's where the absurdity of trying to count popular vote for an electoral college election comes in. If it were just popular vote, then the goal would be to run up the score in population centers and gloss over less-populous areas.
WTFchris 11-04-2008, 04:20 PM which is why Hillary's stupid popular vote argument was lame.
jturbo 11-04-2008, 06:55 PM Is this thing going to drag into tomorrow?
MoTown 11-04-2008, 07:14 PM Is this thing going to drag into tomorrow?
Absolutely.
First states in, Kentucky and Vermont.
DennyMcLain 11-04-2008, 08:10 PM Ohio, so far, is 70/30... for Obama.
Strange.
Floriduh 55/45... for Obama.
Weird.
MoTown in 2012.
Exactly!!!
MOLA1 11-04-2008, 08:14 PM NH and PA. Strong...looking good so far.
JickBoy34 11-04-2008, 08:20 PM LETS' GO B.O.!!!
Who would you recommend for election coverage? I've been watching CNN for the last few elections, but of course that's because it was really all I had (well there's Fox but we don't have to go there). Who has good election coverage?

I'm on MSNBC, but I'm sure a couple people here probably aren't feeling that.
MoTown 11-04-2008, 08:36 PM I'm on MSNBC, but I'm sure a couple people here probably aren't feeling that.
Same here.
MoTown 11-04-2008, 08:50 PM LOL - sorry for not including you originally, MOLA. I didn't know if you were going to be around.
Thanks for the help, though. I might need to turn it over to you full time after around 11.
Vinny 11-04-2008, 08:55 PM STFU Delay.
DennyMcLain 11-04-2008, 08:57 PM I know it's early, but HOW THE HELL can McCain be leading in Michigan?
Doesn't your state have, like, 35% unemployment?
Michigan = Ohio in '04
Just 2% in though.
Edit: 4% now and MSNBC predicting Michigan for Obama.
MOLA1 11-04-2008, 09:00 PM LOL - sorry for not including you originally, MOLA. I didn't know if you were going to be around.
Thanks for the help, though. I might need to turn it over to you full time after around 11.
Shiiit...I didn't know either, but while watching, I needed to get my fix on here.
Vinny 11-04-2008, 09:01 PM I know it's early, but HOW THE HELL can McCain be leading in Michigan?

MSNBC just called Mich for Obama. What are you watching?
MOLA1 11-04-2008, 09:04 PM [smilie=soulpower.g:
geerussell 11-04-2008, 09:17 PM I'm still looking for a blowout. An Obama victory by a margin too wide for them to steal it.
geerussell 11-04-2008, 09:23 PM Mr. Big Shot with the dagger... Ohio called for Obama.
MOLA1 11-04-2008, 09:27 PM O-H-I-O! Shout to Zek!
DrRay11 11-04-2008, 09:33 PM You're welcome.
Mr. Oobir 11-04-2008, 09:58 PM Assuming Ohio holds up as a blue state, Obama has pretty much wrapped this one up. CA, OR and WA are virtual locks for him, which will bring him to over 270 electoral votes. That's ignoring potential wins in VA and FL (edit: and NC and IN), so I'd say McCain is right screwed.
Wilfredo Ledezma 11-04-2008, 10:00 PM Well, Obama's got it in the bag. Major props. I never would've thought the day would come where a minority gets into office.
Of course, I will in no way offer my support up to Barack. I'll never pray for him or put my trust in him that he'll fix the economy.
If somebody "Lee Harvey Oswald's" him, I won't shed a tear, I won't be surprised, and I certainly won't have remorse.
I'll admit, I'm being a sour grape, and I knew very well the odds we're stacked up against the GOP before today.
All I can do now, is just hope it (the economy) gets worse before it gets better. This isn't the first time America's voted a complete doofus & novice into office (Jimmy Carter), and history ALWAYS repeats itself.
I'll take pleasure in watching him fail.
EDIT: At the very least the Republicans are going to hold down a filibuster in the Senate. Rush Limbaugh, Hugh Hewitt, Sean Hannity and all the other conservative radio slappy's are safe from the 'Fariness Doctrine'
Had a class at the gym tonight at 8pm. Got out of it and ran into a kidd I used to hang out with. He said he just caught on a tv that McCain was winning Michigan. I almost knocked him out. "Nice to see you again!"
geerussell 11-04-2008, 10:06 PM EDIT: At the very least the Republicans are going to hold down a filibuster in the Senate. Rush Limbaugh, Hugh Hewitt, Sean Hannity and all the other conservative radio slappy's are safe from the 'Fariness Doctrine'
That ship has sailed anyway. Obama's campaign has laid down a blueprint for using the internet to mobilize voters and raise money that not only bypasses talk radio but trumps it.
Wilfredo Ledezma 11-04-2008, 10:08 PM That ship has sailed anyway. Obama's campaign has laid down a blueprint for using the internet to mobilize voters and raise money that not only bypasses talk radio but trumps it.
Yeah, that's never going to happen.
geerussell 11-04-2008, 10:11 PM Yeah, that's never going to happen.
Really? Scoreboard. As a tool to rally the base and make it rain, that game is over and Obama used the internet to do both in a way that means democrats don't need to play the talk radio game to achieve those ends. Fairness doctrine is rendered moot as far as being an important goal for the democrats.
DennyMcLain 11-04-2008, 10:13 PM MSNBC just called Mich for Obama. What are you watching?
I'm on abcnews.com.
BTW, FoxNews just called Canada for McCain, giving him 603 eletoral votes and the White House.

I don't buy that, Chuck Schumer was just talking about it yesterday.
Obama's internet savvy is over-blown. Ron Paul dominated the web exposure, and it did him no good.
We've seen this 'Jimmy Carter' act before. This evening, America handed the Dems a bigger majority in the Senate, the Oval Office, and increased power in the House. The ball is now in your court. Barack has 4 years to fix the economy, or whoever runs in '12 will have a cakewalk to victory.
Tick tock...
geerussell 11-04-2008, 10:46 PM I don't buy that, Chuck Schumer was just talking about it yesterday.

How much money did Ron Paul raise? How many voters did Ron Paul turn out? ...crickets...

Vinny 11-04-2008, 11:01 PM NBC news calls it for Obama.
DrRay11 11-04-2008, 11:12 PM Just spent my last 20 minutes celebrating and will continue to do so.
We need a president smilie.
Black Dynamite 11-04-2008, 11:41 PM That was a mean ass whooping. yikes. LOL@supporters booingh McCain's respect for Obama. With that said i feel bad for McCain, in his effort to secure the Wilfredo Ledezma Cruscott base, he lost everyone else.
Zip Goshboots 11-04-2008, 11:48 PM I am glad I save some fireworks for tonight.
America wins tonight. America! We can finally be proud.
THIS is the greatest night of my life.
DennyMcLain 11-04-2008, 11:52 PM Boy, if someone handed guns out on the FoxNews Election headquarters, they'd aall blow their heads off.
Talk about disappointed.
Tahoe 11-04-2008, 11:52 PM I WANT AL FRANKEN UP IN DC TOO! Still too close to call.
Come on MoTown call some of your peeps and get them to stuff ballot boxes.

That was a really good speech by McCain. I've thought all along if...
wait. What is that noise.....?
Haahaha, They're interviewing Martin Luther King's kid on CNN, in a Baptist Church, with Gospel music in the background.
DennyMcLain 11-04-2008, 11:55 PM Haha. They just cut that bitch off.
2 minutes until BO calling out Wil Led.

Zip Goshboots 11-05-2008, 12:18 AM No reading. He went off. If you remember Martin Luther King Jr's speech, at one point he left his notes and went off.
We are. Finally. Free.
I've often wondered what kind of a world, an America at that, I'd brought my kid into. Tonight, I don't feel so bad. I know I'll wake up to pretty much the same shit tomorrow, but the simple fact that a black man is president makes me feel better about the future without even having to think about all the issues.
And that was one hell of a speech by Obama.

As late as Friday he was still insisting that Obama's grandmother wasn't really ill and his trip to Hawaii was really all about getting his birth certificate sealed (since he wasn't really born here.)
Uncle Mxy 11-05-2008, 08:36 AM Of course, I will in no way offer my support up to Barack. I'll never pray for him
And that, sir, is what makes you an ass.
I prayed for Bush.
I don't agree with Bush on much, but we should all pray that our leaders do the right things. You pray for everyone, damnit! It's the Christian thing to do.
And now I had better say a prayer for you, because if I ever meet you, you will need it.
MoTown 11-05-2008, 08:51 AM I'm surprised Zip hasn't had a field day on Ledezma's "Christian morals."
Black Dynamite 11-05-2008, 09:11 AM Ledezma is a pussy.
fixed...
Black Dynamite 11-05-2008, 09:14 AM I'm surprised Zip hasn't had a field day on Ledezma's "Christian morals."
What christian morals? Christian Slater? Christian Bale? Not Jesus Christ Christian. He hasn't said much to legitimately claim himself a christian in faith. Faith requires a lil' more dedication than he brings.
WTFchris 11-05-2008, 10:14 AM My prediction on final score is a 338-200 win for Obama (with the popular vote being closer than the electoral map suggests).
Damn, I was dead on last night with the 338 prediction. Not that it's a bad thing he pulled out a couple more states...
Uncle Mxy 11-05-2008, 11:05 AM Damn, I was dead on last night with the 338 prediction. Not that it's a bad thing he pulled out a couple more states...
They're calling Indiana for Obama, so it's up to 349. He has a decent shot at winning North Carolina and Missouri by even-more-razor-thin margins.
MOLA1 11-05-2008, 11:28 AM Thanks for updating. Once Obama got Ohio, I bounced. I was celebrating and smiling and laughing and yelling and then crying like a bitch during Obama's speech. I was so fucking happy and overcome with emotions that I wasn't going to be able to handle a computer at that point. I probably would've smashed it and burned it up like Jimi Hendrix or something.
DrRay11 11-05-2008, 11:29 AM Yup, I celebrated once we won Ohio by getting hammered.
Uncle Mxy 11-05-2008, 11:46 AM I honestly didn't believe Ohio... seemed too early to call it.

WTF is wrong with Ledezma should be a thread title.
Black Dynamite 11-05-2008, 03:47 PM He's a baby. Tantrums to no end.
Tahoe 11-05-2008, 08:08 PM I'm still really surprised that the kept Biden hidden from the press. He wasn't even there for acceptance. I still haven't seen him. Not saying he wasn't on the communist channels but I haven't seen him.

DrRay11 11-05-2008, 09:33 PM He was there from the beginning, IIRC.
Tahoe 11-05-2008, 09:34 PM BO came out with the family and then they left and he gave his speech. I didn't even see Biden. I heard him thank him as a running mate but don't remember the camera on him or anything.

Glenn 11-06-2008, 01:24 PM Obama adds symbolic NC victory to White House win
By MIKE BAKER and BARBARA RODRIGUEZ, Associated Press Writers
20 mins ago
RALEIGH, N.C. – President-elect Obama won North Carolina on Thursday, a symbolic triumph that underscored his political strength as he turned nine states that President Bush won in 2004 to Democratic blue.
The Associated Press declared Obama the winner after canvassing counties in North Carolina to determine the number of outstanding provisional ballots. That survey found that there are not enough remaining ballots for Republican John McCain to close a 13,693-vote deficit.
North Carolina's 15 electoral votes brings Obama's total to 364 — nearly 100 more than necessary to win the White House — to McCain's 162. Missouri is the only state that remains too close to call, with McCain leading by several thousand votes.
Obama's win in North Carolina was the first for a Democratic presidential candidate since Jimmy Carter won the state in 1976.
Of Bush's 2004 states, Obama captured Virginia, Florida and North Carolina in the South, Ohio, Indiana and Iowa in the Midwest and Colorado, Nevada and New Mexico in the West.
Obama ran an aggressive general election campaign in North Carolina after his wide primary victory in the state over Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton suggested he could win a trove of electoral votes that most assumed would belong to McCain.
McCain spent months watching North Carolina from afar during the summer as Obama visited regularly, but the GOP nominee returned to the state in the campaign's final few weeks as polls suggested an Obama victory was possible.
Obama spent millions of televisions ads that were buttressed by hundreds of staff members in dozens of offices to take advantage of North Carolina's rapidly changing demographics and a large bloc of black voters galvanized by his bid to become the first African-American president.
North Carolina's growing population includes a booming urban corridor from Charlotte to Raleigh along Interstate 85, while retirees from northern states — who are more willing to vote for Democrats — are filling the state's coast and mountains.
Exit polls also showed that some 30 percent of voters considered race a factor in their decision, with the numbers split evenly among voters who backed McCain and Obama. Nearly one in five voters considered race an important factor.
The economy also played a role — with 60 percent of voters considering it the top issue, with those voters breaking slightly to Obama. The state's manufacturing industry has been devastated by competitive imports, and the state's banking economy centered in Charlotte was struck by economic turmoil that led to the downfall of Wachovia Corp., in the weeks before Election Day.
Obama's win completed the party's sweep at the top of the North Carolina ticket. Beverly Perdue was elected the state's first female governor, while Kay Hagan unseated one of the GOP's most respected figures in Sen. Elizabeth Dole.

Good news for Barack Obama supporters.
His odds of bagging an electoral vote in Nebraska grew stronger this morning, with word that 10,000 to 12,000 early ballots and 5,200 provisional ballots are left to count in Douglas County.
Obama won about 61 percent of the early votes counted before Tuesday's election. If that percentage holds with the early ballots left to count, Obama stands a strong chance of winning the Omaha-area 2nd Congressional District.
Republicans did not concede defeat this morning, but they acknowledged the long odds.
John McCain held a 569-vote lead over Obama in the 2nd District at the end of Tuesday.
"I will remain cautiously hopeful but not cautiously optimistic," said Hal Daub, state director for McCain. "I'm disappointed (in the numbers). We really worked hard here, against substantial resources being poured into Nebraska."

I'd label it more an "out of touch" thing.

One of these days I need to get passed the point I roll my eyes when I read your posts... they just shouldn't surprise me any more.
Wilfredo Ledezma 11-06-2008, 04:17 PM Why did they ever 'surprise' you in the first place?
Glenn 11-06-2008, 04:44 PM Why did they ever 'surprise' you in the first place?
You seemed to have changed over the past month, Wil.
Almost like a different person.
Uncle Mxy 11-07-2008, 12:23 AM Interestingly enough Ledezma, your precinct was the only one in Sterling Heights who broke for McCain by a huge percentage margin. Only 4 of 52 districts voted for McCain, and Obama won Sterling Heights by 7 points.
MoTown 11-07-2008, 07:22 AM ^ Must be a higher income thing.
Wilfredo Ledezma 11-07-2008, 08:33 AM Two straight days of big time losses in the stock market. Any coincidence?
It makes alot of sense if you ask me. If you have stock, your better off taking that out now and only having to tax 15% rather than having to tax 28% of your capital gains under Obama's tax plan.
Basic economics. You thought nobody was investing now--just wait a few months.
The President doesn't effect the economy unless its a Dem and a bad economy or a Rep and a good one.
I'm sure some traders will take their short term gains/losses prior to a tax jump because they are smart people who are concerned primarily with economic gains. Of course, Obama isn't even anaugurated yet so he can't pass a new tax plan so smart traders aren't getting out yet based on a change that won't happen for months.
Uncle Mxy 11-07-2008, 08:45 AM The #s for October have been coming in and they are grim, that's all. There's no "Obama" effect from the last couple days.
There MAY be an Obama effect from the past month or two, when most of the market concluded that Obama was gonna win (90+% in Intrade). But, it's hard to say given the extreme volatility coming from the bailouts. Remember, unlike the past couple presidential elections, it wasn't too close to call on election day. The investment community wasn't sitting on pins and needles.
The only big stock decline that might be strongly linked to Obama's win is Rupert Murdoch's News Corp.
Uncle Mxy 11-07-2008, 07:16 PM Obama got an electoral vote in Nebraska!
