View Full Version : OGT: MSU vs. OSU
bukdow 10-16-2008, 03:00 PM This is going to be a really big shoo. OK, Ed Sullivan I am not, but college football seer, I am. Beany Wells, Terrelle Pryor and the receivers are pretty good players for OSU. However, they didn`t exactly tear it up against Purdue in Columbus. And, Purdue was able to get into the OSU backfield pretty regularly. So, even though very talented, the OSU offense is inconsistent and seems out of sorts at times.
MSU`s offense is playing very efficiently. Hoyer played very well last week and the run game keeps on truckin`. Look for Glen Winston to get some Jehuu Caulcrick type action this Saturday. Teams have been able to run the ball against OSU and that, of course, bodes well for MSU.
MSU needs to contain Wells and Pryor and not let the OSU receivers get behind them. Play smart, fill the gaps and don`t let OSU make big plays. Nothing spectaculor, just make OSU earn everything and hit them in the mouth every play.
This is going to be a good, close game that will come down to special teams and field position. MSU`s special teams have been playing extremely well and will be the difference in a 20-17 MSU victory.
MoTown 10-16-2008, 03:09 PM Have you ever predicted a MSU loss?
I'm not saying OSU is guaranteed victory here, but I just can't ever remember you thinking MSU will lose, either this year or last year.
Glenn 10-16-2008, 03:12 PM MSU by 13.
30-17
Wilfredo Ledezma 10-16-2008, 03:15 PM Michigan St has no answer for Chris Wells.
Ohio State's defense is more than capable of keeping Ringer modest (even Iowa was able to do that).
Hoyer needs to be spot on his throws. No forcing throws into coverage, keep his poise and hit his receivers. Malcolm Jenkins will probably be on Mark Dell, so BJ Cunningham needs to make some plays. No more drops!
MSU's d-line needs to get pressure on the QB. Ohio St's O-Line has been less than stellar this year. Trevor Anderson needs to wake up and start playing. We heard all the talks in the preseason about how he's going to put Jonal Saint-Dic's '07 season to shame, and he's yet to prove anything.
Robiskie & Hartline have the edge on MSU's DB's, the key will be Pryor being able to make his throws.
I think OSU wins a close game. 27-17ish...

Before this season I predicted MSU would go 8-4. I guess when the season starts and I see the teams play, I feel MSU has a chance to win every game (with the exception of Penn State this year). What can I say.
D's Nuts 10-16-2008, 05:09 PM Everyone knows I love MSU. I have since I was like 4 years old.
It pains me to say, MSU loses a close one. 23-17.
Tahoe 10-16-2008, 05:10 PM I'm putting up my green tent on friday.
Wilfredo Ledezma 10-17-2008, 09:10 AM I'll watch the first hour of the game, than at 4:30 I'm going to watch the abortion that is UM.
Train Wreck 10-18-2008, 04:48 PM Same old Spartans...
Tahoe 10-18-2008, 04:59 PM WTF is this shit?
I'm hoping for a HUGE 2nd half comeback.
shags 10-18-2008, 07:07 PM I expected Ohio State to beat a Michigan team this badly. I didn't expect it to be Michigan State.
That's too bad. I was a State believer this year. The next game is HUGE for them to avoid their seemingly annual swoon.
Tahoe 10-18-2008, 08:42 PM Good for you D Ray. That was a thumpin!
Wilfredo Ledezma 10-19-2008, 12:43 PM I was a State believer this year.
Was it the convincing win over Northwestern that gave you the false sense of hope?
This was just typical Michigan State, they're never going to be a top-tier program. I wasn't surprised by the outcome. We've all seen this episode before.
There's been a giant rain cloud over Spartan Stadium since way before I was even born, and I bet it will still be there long after I'm dead.
Timone 10-19-2008, 12:51 PM I wasn't surprised by the outcome. We've all seen this episode before.
So you weren't surprised by the 45-7 score? Hate to speak on behalf of everyone else, but you might be the only one here who wasn't. Well, I know I was pretty damn surprised at least.

Final scores irrelavant, the fact that they were never at any point in the game was what I'm not surprised about.
Hoyer has the worst arm in the Big Ten.
Glenn 10-20-2008, 09:05 AM exposed.
Tahoe 10-20-2008, 01:09 PM MSU was looking past the team to the south cuz they play big brother this week.
