wow, they found 3 people in harlem who didn't know much about the election. it has now been proven that all black dems must be idiots, including mlk and barack obama (note that actual statements from cynthia mckinney, kwame, and coleman young would have been more effective as satire.) do you think the morons at mccain events realize that bush has exploded govt., lied about iraq and domestic surveillance, and gave huge tax cuts to the investment class that we are currently bailing out? Walking down the street and finding 3 idiots is like shooting fish in a barrel. you'll also notice that none of the people interviewed thought that mccain was a traitor, a terrorist, or should be killed. thus, advantage: black dems over palin supporters.

The issue part didn't surprise me because there are plenty of clueless voters on both sides. I was a little surprised to hear them support Palin as the VP choice though. LOL.

Lest we get completely lost in the moral equivalency fog of finding idiots on both sides, this isn't quite the same as a campaign using a hatred-inciting strategy that results in people shouting "kill him!" at campaign rallies. Carry on.

if your point is that mlk never ran for office as a dem, then i surely concede that. I would assume that mlk would have favored lbj over goldwater, but I don't want to look that up. also most of mlk's associates later ran as dems. nonetheless, in the interest of accuracy, you can swap in john lewis or thurgood marshall.

edit: it is also important to note that king was virulently opposed to lbj's decisions regarding the vietnam war. also, kennedy allowed j edgar hoover to tap mlk's phones, which led to later fbi blackmail efforts to suppress the civil rights movement. thus, mlk would definitely have reasons not to identify as a dem. however, i would doubt that he would have considered himself a repub either, especially not a goldwater or nixon repub.

Martin Luther King Jr. was registered to vote as a Republican. I can't imagine him voting for a Democrat any time before Goldwater instituted the "Southern Strategy."

What amuses me is that you couldn't credibly do the same thing with McCain's positions, because he's flip-flopped so much. Pro-choice? He's said words to that effect back in 2000. Iraq? He's been a critic of Bush on the war.
