the final game of the season? UofM played Hawaii a couple years ago too. Is this some rotating thing cuz of the number of teams?

My son told me about it the other day. Cal Poly has a really good team in the Great West Conference or something this year, but playing Wisky in Madison???? OUCH!

Just a guess, but I would imagine that Wisconsin had a tough time finding a team to treck all the way up to Madison in late November even if the team was due to make $750,000 or whatever the heck they are probably getting. You'd be getting a huge ass whooping, freezing your ass off and possibly losing players or the chance at a bowl.
