This should be a very good game. MSU opened up a 3 point favorite and the line now is MSU + 2.5. So, the early money is going on NW. Considering the game is at NW and NW was off last week while MSU played a very tough Iowa team, early money on NW seems reasonable.

However, NW is untested. The only real team they have played is Iowa. And though they won that game, Iowa was running all over them and controlled the TOP, all while having numerous turnovers. Duke had success running against NW as well. This bodes well for MSU. Control the game by running the ball and keep NW`s offense off the field.

MSU has some dings and NW is healthy. The game is at NW and the Wildcats are feeling pretty good about themselves. But, MSU is a tough bunch of SOBs and are battle tested against much better competition. This game could go either way, but I will go with the Spartans, 30-27.

Northwestern is basically Spartan Stadium West. Anytime MSU travels to Chicago, the alumni here represent strong.

Aside from that, I think it'll be a close game. MSU is still learning to close out opponents and they will have to play mistake free to win. Northwestern is going to the air often which does not bode well for MSU and their banged up secondary. Add in Sutton and MSU could be in for a long day.

MSU pulls out a close one.

MSU 38
NW 36

I don't like this one AT ALL for MSU. NW is going to score points and I don't think MSU can keep up. Ringer will be good, but Hoyer's deficiencies close to the goal line will hurt us. FG's will not help vs. NW.

Honestly, this could be the last 'winnable' game on MSU's schedule...

Yeah, Hoyer is going to have to clean it up for MSU to win. However, if MSU can run the ball (which they should) Hoyer just needs to play within himself and not play to win the game. The key to MSU winning this game is Javon going for 150+ yards during long, sustained drives. Regardless, this should be a pretty good game.

I think MSU wins this one. Northwestern is tough, but I'm not sure if they're for real. I think there's a good chance MSU is for real.

MSU by a touchdown.

I know you're a Michigan fan, but if you don't count the Michigan game as "winnable," you truly are an idiot.

No shit, MSU could be more than a touchdown favorite and I might even give the points.

We could probably use a UM/MSU thread already.

Whats the one commonality between the two teams Michigan beat?? UM's front seven dominated their weak QB's and mediocre O-Lines. MSU has both.

Ringer can't do it by himself. PJ Hill already tried that, and failed.

Plus it's not like they have a history of playing well in Ann Arbor. Just sayin'.

Yeah, until Michigan shows it can actually win a shootout I don't know how they can be favored against MSU.

I have no doubt MSU will beat UM this year. And probably next year, too.

Which is why I'm agreeing with bukdow. At least for this year.

Not a bad game at all. MSU jumped on NW early and kept NW down the rest of the game. This was definitely a game the old MSU would have lost, no doubt. A very nice road win against a well-coached, quality opponent.
