Played it, and while it's a big improvement over last year i'm disappointed in it. I also am still disgusted with the button scheme.

The demo should be on PSN and Xbox Live, thoughts?

am i going to have to reserve it to have it...

every year i've gotten it, there has been plenty of them in stock, but for some reason, wether it be the lusty brett favre cover, i have a feeling it will be sold out if i dont' reserve it...

Black Dynamite

meaning it'll be in stock AGAIN. I doubt madden 08 being one of the most hated glitch heavy madden's ever really leads to the biggest sales ever(which is what it would take to sell out) in 09.

I'm going to grab it... I am leaning for grabbing it on the ps3 though

Reserving games is completely overrated. They'll always have it somewhere. The only reason to consider it would be if you had some credit at GameStop and had to have it on the first day. Even then they'd probably still have it.

about 10 years ago they never shipped enough games to cover the sales and it was madness. These days there's too many games out there to risk losing out to whatever comes out next week so they ship plenty.

A lot of reviews are saying it's a sort of return to form for Madden... I'lm going to DL the demo and see for myself.

08 was really fun on the Wii, but I've had a ton of glitches as well. I've probably had a half dozen games ruined when it froze up between the game clock ending and the menu coming up to view stats/quit. That really annoys me. I've also had it lock up during some of the franchise stuff (like the draft).

So far I found out that you cannot change the button scheme(which is atrocious to me) and on that alone i may buy the ps2 madden instead. Its also the prettiest Madden ever so that'll get alot of casual gamers to piss their way into it regardless of its shity setup.

I usually always do. I know if I'm going to want a game so why not put money down on it so I know where I can get it the day it comes out and not have to search for it?

I dunno maybe it's because I'm in a college town with only 3 maybe 4 stores to buy games at. Stuff like Mario Kart Wii, Call of Duty 4, and Assassin's Creed were nowhere to be found early evening of their release days

Anyways, anyone have this game? Any good? I'm holding off because NCAA was so disappointing. I also don't have time for two football games.

1.) Yes it is and you can't change it this time.
2.)You've been living under a rock blind and high off dope if you've missed that I own a PS3, used to play my brothers 360 to give a fair play to their exclusives and see game to game comparisons, but he sold it because...Well he was bored(i dare not explain).

3.) I just bought the game for PS3 and its tolerable enough to deal with it. The gameplay and controls in spite of the shitty button scheme felt clean and crisp. I recommend it if you gotta have a football game. Its good enough for that. In fact If you loved the simplistic, offense loving, coneless, Madden 2005, you'll like it even more since most of the feel added to it comes from the creator of that Madden. I'll give trhem credit for one thing. They've made finesse feature backs just and potent to break free in their own special way with jukes as strong RB's can with the full ahead truck stick.

Let me also say that you can upload highlights to EA online for all to see from any game online i think. game froze on my second game online so i didnt get a chance to test it.

1. The control scheme is fine. Once you get used to it, you will realize how much better it is than the last gen schemes.

2. "tolerable enough to deal with". LMFAO.

I'm going to go on record to say that it's probably the best Madden to date on any system barring any huge glitch that is found down the road.

1.) No its not, especially on defense. But you're entitled to your opinion.

2.) Yea tolerable enough, laugh yourself into a heart attack about it. It's an honest opinion. If you loved 2005 madden you'll like this one i guess. I personally thought 2005 madden had too many arcade like elements to it as does this. To each his own though.

Yea having the game do your your stiff arms, qb's return to looking one way throw another, and finding yourself hit a top trigger button for speed burst were ingenious.....To you.

Holing the R trigger to speed burst frees up the A or X button to do stiff arms. I hated having to stiff arm with the triggers or bumpers.

But considering that control scheme has been in place for 3 YEARS now, I guess you have been playing Madden 2005 since then.

I always liked using the triggers to do jukes or stiff arms instead of speed bursts. That way, you can pick which direction you want to do it. Seems like it gives more control. Then again, I haven't played a Madden game beyond Madden 2005 so I may end up loving it when I finally get a chance.

Those moves are now on the R-stick and they even put some cool moves on the L-stick as well, giving you more control of your player than you ever have.

I'm fully OK with that change then. I don't even remember what the R-stick did in Madden 05 on Xbox.

That's why I don't mind the speed burst on the trigger because it's out of the way, freeing my hands to work the sticks a little better.

two years is not awhile since i bought my first next gen system last year. And it doesnt stop it from being a flaw. Again you're acting uppity like everyone should suck madden's dick because you love it. But thats not a reality. You're entitled to your opinion, but its not golden man.

Holing the R trigger to speed burst frees up the A or X button to do stiff arms. I hated having to stiff arm with the triggers or bumpers.
then its perfect for YOU. But most people I know liked being control of their stiff arms. Not one button magic pushing. Maybe you weren't great at rushing and the easier do more work for you set up is great. Either way its defense where i hold more issue, it just doesnt work imo like that. But that's for me. I also think that they took away alot of the in your hands power to make it easier for casual gamers. which sucks for people who know how to play when you're really playing handicap football with your cpu partner again. He does your field of vision and you just push a throw button. you hit X and he figures out the best juke for ya. I also noticed that they killed fair play settings to. All moves for the casual madden gamer. I respect that, but doesnt mean i have to see it as the crowning achievement of lowered skill flawed action that you do. I said the game was tolerable enough to play, So i do think its better than last year. But count me out of that "greatest madden ever" bandwagon.

this made me curse as well
Yea, they were trying to make bangpow happier than us. :P

You keep saying that as if the sticks were changed too when they are the one thing that was not. they were free for your pleasure palace in the first place, unless they gave you a screw job on the original xbox madden.

Yea, kinda was my mood. Told myself i'd live with the flaws and the shitty control scheme as long as the controls were responsive, which they are this time around(i'll give it credit when its due). I play this madden more for the football fan in me than it being amazing. I'd give it a 7.5 out of 10, which is an big jump from last year.

Actually, they have changed a bit. Try juking with the L stick, you can pull off moves that you haven't been able to do before because they weren't on the L stick before.

Also, with more jukes and special moves on the R-stick, how are you going to pull those off if your thumb is on the A, or X, button hitting the speed burst?

It's time to step up to big boy school and use the advanced controls that are in the game.

No it not different, they added a break tackle result and on contact element but the sticks still the same pre-contact.

Damnit bangpow lay off the good batch of sticky icky ganja you've been enjoying. The moves are the same, its the result of them they changed.

Advanced as in less work?

Yes swimming your thumbs around and hitting the x button is so advanced. Oh and that speed burst on your top R2 trigger, guess what kids. That's just not any R2 trigger, its advanced for us big boy mooninites use because we are the freshest thing ever. The sticks are magic and do so many things making us the greatest for loving them. You are insignificant bitches if you don't love it anbd cherish it's greatness. Oh this is so advanced earth people, Madden mooninites has come to take over your mind. Get ready, for there will be an explosion of extraordinary magnitude..
