Had to have a fighting game hold me off until Street Fighter 4 and Tekken 6(Would love to find marvel vs capcom 2 for ps2 somewhere). Like it a lil' bit so far, love playing as darth vadar, but haven't been online. Anybody else trying it out?

I would really like to check that out.....(PS3 only or on 360 too?)

I will hold to the opinion that the first Soul Caliber was the best....that game was money in the bank

both systems. ps3 gets special character Vader, 360 gets Yoda.

I'm not a purist, i just play the damn thing...lol...So Vader is fine by me. The acting is atrocvious and the story always sucks, so i'm not mad about throw ins. Vader pulls off the best acting out of the bunch unfortunately.

Also though I think the PS3 version is selling more for two other reasons, more idea controller for fighting games some say(though i dont like the 360 controller at all, so I have no opinion of my own w/o factoring that in), and the japanese sales boost.

That is what set the first one apart from any other fighting game. Each character had a good story mode then went along with the fighting aspect.

Since MGS4 ghas a far far far far far far far far deeper story and crop of good voice acting, I can't say it's the same. You're scaring me trying to push this great story on soul calibur series thing. It's horrible acting every game and mediocre-average story in between. It's fighting game and i can just imagine the uproar you had over Zelda's link in the game cube version and Spawn in the xbox version in part 3. I agree that this added character thing isn't for every game, but it is and always has been great for fighting games(capcom vs marvel, x-men vs street fighter, marvel vs street fighter, capcom vs snk, mortal kombat vs DC, and so on).

so, how's the fighting in that game?

actually very consistent with previous games in the series. Actually like some of the combos and I've heard the fight creator is solid, though i haven't tried it. I've kinda been playing arcade mode, then going back to play DMC4(which i nabbed for 15 dollars). I'd give the game an 8.5 out of 10. It's definitely good to pop in for a group of people playing on the system for good quick competitive fun( passing the controller around based on losses of course).

Also I found it pretty damn fun to use the force during a fight.

Soul Calibur's online runs pretty smooth so far and it's actually mire fun than i expected. the wins are best out of 5.

Love the Soul Edge/Calibur series. And while it may not be Godfather-esque, the storyline aspect has always added a little bit to the series. I just downloaded the original Soul Calibur for my 360, and it's still fun. It's funny, they still have the characters speaking Japanese with English subtitles. No online mode though. Would have been nice to to take on cats across the world with my boy Siegfried. If they could do it for frickin' Street Fighter 2, why not for Soul Calibur.

To the new game. I'm sure it will be good, but including Vader and Yoda is gay. There's no way they can be implemented into the aforementioned "storyline", and are you going to tell me that Ivy's little sword/whip hybrid is going to somehow block and stand a chance against a lightsaber? Come on now.

Actually there's a chain like weapon on the game. No "get over here" move, but yea you can get him a chain.

Well if I pick up this game, Scorpion will be the first one I look up to make. He was always my favorite in Mortal Kombat.

traded in uncharted, bought it for 40 dollars(then got some guy trading his games in to sell me his DMC4 for 15 dollars), it's a great fighting game to hold me off until i get SF4 and T6. I'd give it an 8.5 overall. Rent it first if you're not sure. I am slightly bias because i have too much fun with Vader and his apprentice using the force.
