WTFchris 07-17-2008, 10:39 AM I'll give another shot at getting Tmac here...
RIP to Utah
Sheed to Houston
Boozer to Detroit
Korver to Houston
Tmac to Detroit
Salaries work anyway.
Rotations:
PG Billups/Stuckey
SG Tmac/Stuckey
SF Tay/MLE (Childress?)
PF Boozer/Max/Amir
C Dyess/Ratliff/Amir
PG Williams/Price/hart
SG RIP/Miles
SF Brewer/Harpring
PF Ak47/Millsap
C Memo/Koufus
PG Alston/Jackson/Brooks
SG Korver/Head
SF Battier/Greene
PF Sheed/Scola
C Yao/Sheed
Glenn 07-17-2008, 10:41 AM We give up Rip and Sheed and get Tmac and Boozer?
The rest of the NBA would revolt.
It would be like that scene from Frankenstein.
They would have torches and would be surrounding the Palace.
Joe would throw out Langlois as a sacrifice to the angry masses.
WTFchris 07-17-2008, 10:57 AM Well, we could afford to give up Max or Amir too (to Houston)
I think Utah would gladly move Boozer and Korver for RIP. They can't afford to extend Boozer and Korver doesn't do anything but chuck 3's (Harpring is a decent 3 point shooter and plays defense). RIP complements Brewer nicely and would thrive off a true PG.
Houston gets an elite big man to pair with Yao. Greene is lighting up the summer league so they can afford to move Tmac to clear PT for him (he'd probably start over Korver after not too long). Battier makes up for Korver's defensive liabilities and Korver and Sheed clear the paint for Yao.
WTFchris 07-17-2008, 11:01 AM While we're at it lets send Tay and Amir (sending Max in the previous deal) to Atlanta for Smith and sign PJ Brown to the MLE:
PG Billups/Stuckey/Bynum
SG Tmac/Stuckey/AA
SF Smith/Herrmann/Sharpe
PF Boozer/Brown
C Dyess/Brown/Ratliff
How scary would that be?
Glenn 07-17-2008, 11:03 AM PJ Brown is retiring, IIRC
Zekyl 07-17-2008, 11:12 AM I'm just not seeing that deal working. For some reason, it just seems like all 3 teams wouldn't agree
WTFchris 07-17-2008, 11:22 AM For some reason, it just seems like all 3 teams wouldn't agree
How come?
Zekyl 07-17-2008, 11:24 AM I really don't know.
Maybe I feel like they'd want more for TMac?
Maybe I feel like they'd want a little more for Boozer AND Korver?
Every time I look at it I see something different. All I really know is we make out like bandits and I'd love it!
Glenn 07-17-2008, 11:24 AM And Langlois dies, to boot!
WTFchris 07-17-2008, 11:28 AM Well, Sheed/Max/Korver may or may not be enough for Tmac, I don't know. But picks can always balence that out too.
RIP for Boozer/Korver may not be fair, but I think it is when you consider salaries. Boozer may walk for nothing next year. Korver is very overpaid for not doing much more than Hayes does. Utah will have to make some hard choices on who to let go if they don't move some salary. And RIP can run in the open floor with Williams and Brewer too.
Glenn 07-17-2008, 11:29 AM RIP for Boozer/Korver may not be fair, but I think it is when you consider salaries. Boozer may walk for nothing next year.
As can Rip.
But we're not worried about that here at WTF, right?
Not if we trade for 5 more PGs.
WTFchris 07-17-2008, 12:20 PM As can Rip.
But we're not worried about that here at WTF, right?
The difference is that we don't have other bloated contracts to hamstring us (like AK47's deal). Sheed will be off the books (unless we bring him back) and we'll be about 13 million farther under the cap than Utah.
Sending Korver to Houston gets over 5 mil off the books for Utah which is extra money to extend Okur, Williams (and in this case RIP). If they still had a problem Harpring is an expiring deal next year and could be sent packing.
No Chris. Rip has an ETO. We should trade him.
WTFchris 07-17-2008, 12:24 PM I just did trade him.
That's because you are a wise man. Your house is built on the rock, not the sand.
WTFchris 07-17-2008, 01:02 PM Joe may be wise to move him. I like RIP, but he'll probably opt next year. Otherwise he hits the market with Lebron, Wade, Bosh and the rest of that class.
MoTown 07-17-2008, 01:41 PM From Utah's perspective:
Boozer and Korver for RIP.
Don't think they go for it. Plus if they get rid of a white guy, I'm sure they'll want at least one in return.
Glenn 07-17-2008, 01:51 PM Nice baiting attempt, Fool.
What color is the sky in your world, hmm?
As I have said, Rip's ETO makes it necessary for Joe to CONSIDER moving Rip. Nobody, including me (as much as you hate to admit it) has said that we NEED to trade Rip.

Delfino is still out there.

That part could be key. Would you want to go for your big money against those guys?
Glenn 07-17-2008, 02:16 PM That part could be key. Would you want to go for your big money against those guys?
If there are 10-12 teams with big cap room, they can't all sign those 3 guys.
Zekyl 07-17-2008, 02:17 PM There's more than those 3 guys in that free agent class. Isn't it supposed to be the big one with a bunch of big names? Not just 3. And are there really going to be THAT many teams with a ton of cap room?
WTFchris 07-17-2008, 02:31 PM If there are 10-12 teams with big cap room, they can't all sign those 3 guys.
10-12 teams with space (projected) now does not mean they'll still have it. Not when Boozer, Marion, Sheed and a host of other players will be out there next year. Would you wait for Lebron and pass up siging Boozer if you are a team with space next year? Not unless you were very near the top of Lebron's list.
Glenn 07-17-2008, 02:37 PM Actually, I missed Chris'/Zekyl's point, they appear to be saying that it is MORE likely that Rip opts out next summer ('09) because if he doesn't, he'll be on the market at the same time as the LeBron, Wade, etc class of '10.
That is indeed an excellent point.
WTFchris 07-17-2008, 02:53 PM yes, that was my point. Thanks for the pat on the back.
When was "maybe he'll opt out" ever the issue? What all-star doesn't opt out early of their soon to be ending contract to get another long term contract secured as soon as possible?
Ron Artest, that's who.
Glenn 07-17-2008, 03:35 PM And Shawn Marion to name another.
But I see what you are doing here.
