Must be nice to have cap space to burn.

Really, when the Clippers were shopping around a 2nd rounder for an all-star caliber big man, they clearly meant it.

The probably offered Joe the same thing for Sheed.

Would have been nice for Joe to try and get something like that...

I was about to comment that you know tomorrow some loon is going to ask Langolis how come Joe D didn't trade a 2nd rounder for Camby....

I was beaten to the punch.

who plays pf, kaman or camby? camby and kamans a horrible fit imo. zbo and kamen fit better

Obviously we don't have the cap space, but what could we have given them that would have worked for Camby?

Maybe we can lure Chris for Rasheed/Max and a conditional pick?

Jesus Christ.

Why is is the Clippers just got a quality big man for a 2nd rounder, and all of a sudden people are acting like its the CLIPPERS having the firesale?

The Clippers are not going to deal Kaman. They wanted a big man to play NEXT to Kaman. We could offer anybody on our roster, Stuckey included. LA won't deal him.

LA has their starting 5 now of Davis, Gordon, Thornton, Camby and Kaman. They have no need to break it up.

Camby was a PF before he came to Denver, and he'll be one after he leaves. Hardly a bad fit.

Forgot Camby was a PF. I wasn't acting like they were having a firesale. I think Sheed/Max and a non-top10 pick wouldn't be bad for Kamen, but I guess I'm biased or something. It just seems like Sheed would fit well with Camby. One inside, one outside.

kaman and camby are great rebounders and none of them really have a consistent outside shot. zbo, elton brand, or sheed could have stretched it out but instead they settle for 2 great rebounders, which isnt shitty, but they couldve done better.

lets see how many games kaman and camby miss this season.

If anything, Denver is having the firesale.

No doubt they'd deal Iverson or Nene for cap relief if the right deal came along.

Sheed, Billups and Dice for Nene and Iverson would work under the cap.

and why would we do that?

Strictly a luxury tax dump for Denver. They go from $5 million over to $4 million under, enough to re-sign J.R. Smith or sign other free agents.

This isn't good news for Okafor, Iguodala, or Josh Smith either. They just lost the last team with the cap room to drive their price up.

I wasn't saying Detroit should have or could have offered a second rounder, but when Denver is trading it would be nice to get in there and get something. They have some parts over there that could fit...

But nothing that could have gotten the Nuggets under the luxury tax.

I don't think this is a firesale. I don't see the Nuggets trading Iverson or Anthony. I'm sure their owners thought they couldn't win a title with this group, so there was no reason to pay the tax.

True, but giving away Camby for nothing either means they have a trick up their sleeve or they're going to try to win without a big man (also known as giving up). I'm guessing they're going to be making some more trades.

Or they are going to try and be more profitable.

I guess - but attendance is a key to profitability. And if your team is under .500 and not in the playoff race, I'm thinking the fans might be a little less likely to show up.

Well, its been down the last 2 years despite adding AI. Owner might just be fed up. AI is a big expiring, they could be in a spot to do something soon.

denvers pretty much fucked. they cant win with this group and camby didnt even shoot the ball. unless they srsly got something planned, they cant do shit.

kaman and camby vs jerm and bosh is going to be fun to watch though.

also like shags said, this pretty much fucks over josh smith...so um..joe this is ur chance!

will be interested to hear the nuggets sell this move to their fanbase. it's so clearly a cap move it's not funny. there's no way you can sell 'the option to swap future 2nd picks' as a move that will make their current roster better.

unless they go spend money to get a better player.

i agree though- they aren't going to get it done with the current group, so......

but i thought they could get something better than that. oh well, it saves some $$$$

can they use the TE to get someone in a s&t?

Camby's a guy that I have wanted on the Pistons for a long time, but I can't really blame Joe here because we didn't have what the Clippers had to offer.

$40m in cash savings for the Nuggets is unreal.

Shaqgs made a great point about the remaining FA's. Nobody has any space now, so there might be a chance a player or two ends up in a S&T or settling for the MLE.

Denver is screwed big time. I'm glad I'm not a fan of them out here.

Camby can play PF, but I really don't like that pairing very much. Especially with Thornton at SF and Maggs gone. Thornton is a good young player, but he's a converted PF that doesn't have an outside shot. neither do Camby or Kamen (Camby has a decent mid range shot, but not great). They will be very good defensively and on the glass down low, but will be a highly perimeter oriented team (similar to Chicago prior to Rose). They better hope Davis and/or Gordon can drive and get teammates a lot of dunks or they are in trouble. How are they going to keep up with the Suns, Mavs and Hornets who can almost score at will?

I'd love to send them a Sheed/Max for Kamen/TT package we talked about, but they'd be smart to make a try at Boozer now to add some more scoring down low.

BTW, I'm having some good fun telling all my co-workers out here that the Nuggets are DONE.

They are pissed that they gave Camby away.
