View Full Version : Pistons/Miami
Glenn 07-08-2008, 10:13 AM How about Sheed and Tay for Marion, Haslem and 1st rd pick?
Sheed's and Marion's deals are both expiring.
We'd need to make another move for a center, but we'd certainly get tougher and the rebounding would be vastly improved.
There's a little too much duplication between Haslem and Max, so maybe a third team is involved to move one of them (or it could be a seperate deal).
Udonis is a strange name for a Mexican.
I miss WOD.
Glenn 07-08-2008, 10:16 AM ^I think that was Herm's schtick, actually.
I could be wrong.
MoTown 07-08-2008, 10:17 AM Quite possibly my favorite WOD quote of all time. Except I think he used the word "stupid" instead of "strange."
MoTown 07-08-2008, 10:19 AM By the way, Glenn, I like this trade. Haslem is no where near as good as Sheed, but we get the slasher that the Pistons have been lacking. The Pistons would still have to swing a deal for a better big man.
Zekyl 07-08-2008, 12:56 PM If they found a deal for a center, I'd be ok with this trade. Do we move Tay for a C then start Marion at SF? Do we play Marion as an undersized PF and try to come up with a package for a C? He definitely would help our rebounding issues.
Glenn 07-08-2008, 01:00 PM Tay would be in Miami, Zek.
I think if you bring in Marion and Haslem you can move Max or Haslem and something else for a center.
What that "something else" actually is depends on what caliber of center you'd like to get.
Zekyl 07-08-2008, 01:03 PM Shoot, completely forgot that while I was looking through the posts. Wow. You've got to get something worthwhile, he's got to replace Sheed at least somewhat. I still wouldn't mind seeing us go after Haywood, I know he had a strong start to last season but I'm not sure how it finished. I don't know how much it would take to get him now either. If he had a good year, his value probably went way up as opposed to last summer when we were talking about getting him for cheap. I don't know who else would be available at this point. The preference would be someone who's willing to bang down low.
Glenn 07-08-2008, 01:06 PM Maybe we then do Chauncey to Denver for Camby and a pick?
Stuckey
Rip
Marion
Dice or Haslem
Camby
Zekyl 07-08-2008, 01:06 PM Brendan Haywood
At 28 minutes a game he put up 10.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.7 blocks, and shot 53%
In the playoffs he played 30 a game, 12 points, 6.7 boards, 1.5 blocks, and shot 59%
Glenn 07-08-2008, 01:10 PM You'd have to give up Amir and Max to get Haywood.
Glenn 07-08-2008, 01:37 PM Another option for the second phase of this deal would be to send Chauncey to Portland, since they have an excess of bigs and youth.
Billups for Channing Frye, Steve Blake or Jarrett Jack and either Martell Webster or Travis Outlaw would re-stock the roster with talent and youth.
You could even include Przybilla instead of Frye.
Zekyl 07-08-2008, 05:57 PM I would trade Billups for Frye, Jack, and Webster. I don't know enough about Blake to know how good he is, but Jack would be a solid backup to Stuckey and Frye would probably become our starting C if this followed up the Sheed trade. Webster becomes a solid backup SF (or Outlaw if we took him instead). I'd rather have Frye than Przybilla.
Timone 07-08-2008, 05:58 PM One problem: Jack is a Pacer. :sirdouche:
Zekyl 07-08-2008, 05:59 PM Stuckey/Blake/Hunter (or Blaylock)
Hamilton/Webster
Marion/Webster/Sharpe
McDyess/Max/Amir
Frye/Amir/Samb
Zekyl 07-08-2008, 05:59 PM So it would be Blake in the deal then.
Zekyl 07-08-2008, 07:53 PM Actually, the more I think about this, the less I like that idea. Our All-Star PG for two backups and a future 1st? I'd want more in return for him than that. Frye played C for the Knicks but he's not the best rebounder or shot blocker from what I recall. We need to improve our interior defense and I don't think he's the guy to do it.
Glenn 07-08-2008, 08:08 PM Joe chased Przybilla before signing Nazr, so maybe there is an affinity there.
JP brings defense and rebounding, but that's about it (well, besides injuries).
Zekyl 07-08-2008, 08:10 PM Injuries are the main reason I'm not interested in bringing him in. I've just never been a big fan of his.
Hermy 07-08-2008, 08:19 PM ^I think that was Herm's schtick, actually.
I could be wrong.
It was actually "Evil Herm", so I excuse the forgetfulness.
