What would be the best offer (for both sides) that the Pistons could make to Miami for #2?

View Full Version : Make your best offer: Beasley to the Pistons Glenn 06-25-2008, 01:02 PM What would be the best offer (for both sides) that the Pistons could make to Miami for #2? MoTown 06-25-2008, 02:06 PM No thanks. Glenn 06-25-2008, 02:08 PM How about Sheed, Chauncey and a future 1st for Marion, Blount and #2 (Beasley)? I know that Marion and Beasley are sort of redundant, so we could flip Marion elsewhere if need be. I guess in that scenario, we could take Mayo instead of Beasley, but that's another thread I suppose. WTFchris 06-25-2008, 02:14 PM Well, I doubt they'd be talking to us, but you have to address most of their needs (whatever you can) 1) a PG to pair with Wade 2) another pick (to fill more holes) 3) taking on a bad contract like Blount or Banks 4) a non PF or SG to fill rotation So, I think Billups has to be in there. He's the PG they need. He shoots well from 3 and Wade does not so they complement each other on the offensive end. I think Dyess has to be in there too. Sheed makes too much to match on their end. Dyess may not want to play there, which may require a third team (like Houston where he'd probably agree to go). DET sends Billups (11 mil) to MIA, Dyess (7 mil) to HOU MIA sends #2 (Beasley), Blount (7.4 mil), Smush (2.4), Wright (2.4) to DET MIA sends #52 to HOU HOU sends Battier (6.8 mil) to MIA Detroit Becomes: PG Stuckey/#29/Smush SG RIP/Wright/MLE SF Tay/Wright/MLE PF Beasley/Max/Amir C Sheed/Blount/Amir *I'm predicting Kyle Weaver at #29 Miami becomes: PG Billups/Banks SG Wade/Cook SF Battier/ PF Marion/ C Haslem/ *Riley has some bench holes to fill Houston becomes: PG Alston/Jackson/Brooks SG Tmac/Head SF #25/Hayes/#52 PF Scola/Dyess/Landry C Yao/Dyess/Dike *I'm predicting Greene or Batum at #25. Glenn 06-25-2008, 02:32 PM Interesting. Miami doesn't have Smush's rights anymore, though. He played the tail end of last year with the Clippers. Glenn 06-25-2008, 02:53 PM No thanks. Don't hate the playa, hate the game. hater WTFchris 06-25-2008, 06:10 PM Interesting. Miami doesn't have Smush's rights anymore, though. He played the tail end of last year with the Clippers. Well, throw in another chump to balence salaries then I guess. UxKa 06-25-2008, 06:37 PM They can have our last pick, and a hoagie for good measure. Jethro34 06-25-2008, 09:27 PM If this were a legit question, it would probably take Dyess, the 29 and our 2010 1st rounder for Udonis Haslem and the #2. I don't know anything that would get us closer than that - but that likely doesn't even get us close at all. Jethro34 06-25-2008, 09:33 PM Actually, how about Sheed, Amir, #29 and 2010 first for Marion and #2? At that point, though, I might prefer a three team deal with someone like Seattle and then take either Bayless or Brook Lopez at #4. In the end we replace Sheed and Amir for Marion and Lopez? Hell yes. I would throw in Afflalo as well if it somehow made the deal work. MoTown 06-25-2008, 10:55 PM Don't hate the playa, hate the game. hater Sorry. I just don't really think Beasley isn going to be all that great. He's got a lot of talent, he just reminds me too much of Shareef Abdur Rahim. Glenn 06-26-2008, 08:34 AM SAR was an all star, if that means anything anymore. The guy had a pretty decent career until injuries took their toll, IMO. MoTown 06-26-2008, 02:13 PM You're right, but if we trade something away, we should get more than Beasley. The number 2 pick is going to be overrated, because draft picks are always overrated before they're selected. No matter what happens, trading for the #2 pick is going to leave us with a worse roster than when we started. I would much rather take a chance on a veteran who doesn't like his current situation. Beasley could be a solid player, but why trade away unequal value for him? Glenn 07-08-2008, 02:44 PM I like Beasley. Reminds me of Brand. YES, AFTER ONE SUMMER LEAGUE GAME |
