The cream of the crop are players that have ETO's (Arenas, Iverson, Jermaine O'Neal, Marion, Baron Davis, Elton Brand, Ron Artest, Corey Maggette, STARBURY) most of which probably aren't even going to opt out...

The next best slew of FA's are all restricted (Monta Ellis, Josh Smith, Jose Calderon, Childress, Navarro, Sasha Vujacic, Ron Turiaf, Gomes, Carl Landry, Lou Williams, Luol Deng, Kelenna Azubuike Boobie Gibson, Delonte West, JR Smith, Biedrins, Andre Iguodala, Shaun Livingston, Tony Allen, Ben Gordon, Emeka Okafor and even our own Walter Herrmann) so it's not going to be easy to get any of those...

The Pistons best fit UFA is probably James Posey (as much as I hate him, he'd be a perfect backup for Tay), but he has a 3 mill player option, and since he took less to join Boston in the first place, I would think they would use their MLE to retain him, or he'll just exercise his option...

Other UFA's include:

Antawn Jamison (will prob get near max to stay in DC), Beno Udrih (should get long term deal to stay in Sacto after a pretty solid season), DeSagana Diop (could get a nice deal to be a backup center), Sebastian Telfair, Gordan Giricek, Eddie House, Devin Brown, Jarvis Hayes, Juan Dixon, Brian Skinner

The Elder Council UFA's will be well represented in this class...

PJ Brown, Sam Cassell, Juwan Howard, Damon Stoudamire, Lindsey Hunter, Theo Ratliff, Darrell Armstrong, Robert Horry, Earl Boykins, Jamaal Magloire, Tyronn Lue, Devean George, Malik Allen, Adrian Griffin, Anthony Carter, Dikembe Mutombo, Alonzo Mourning, Jason Williams, Ira Newble, Anthony Johnson, Lorenzen Wright, Austin Croshere, Derek Anderson, Earl Boykins...

Here's a couple UFA's I think could make a solid fit:

Kurt Thomas - can rebound, can play defense, and is a better option than Theo, if you decide to unload Sheed, he'd make a decent replacement for a year or so...

Bostjan Nachbar- Tay needs a backup, and Nachbar has good size (6'9'') and good athleticisim. He can score and he's a solid shooter. He's not blessed defensively, but he's better than Jarvis, IMO.

Other Ideal Pistons Targets are Mickael Pietrus, Bonzi Wells, Fred Jones, Eduardo Najera, Michael Finley, Chris Duhon, Matt Barnes, Nenad Krstic, Quinton Ross, and if your daring to see whats left in the tank...Ricky Davis

Player Option UFA's include Trevor Ariza, Jannero Pargo, Rasho Nesterovic, Melvin Ely, Kenny Thomas (near lock to be exercised), Adonal Foyle (ditto), Keith Bogans, Stromile Swift, James Jones, Jacque Vaughn, Brent Barry, Jason Hart, Chris Mihm, Raef LaFrentz (another lock) Eddie Jones

Former Pistons Free Agents
Grant Hill (Player Option), Carlos Arroyo, Primoz Brezec, Smush Parker, Flip Murray, Mo Evans, Ronald Dupree, Scot Pollard, all but Hill I wouldn't want to give a 2nd chance...

All in all, your not going to get much quality out of this class, it's going to have to come through a trade...

Guys That Could Be Available Via Trade (this is all my opinion)...

Michael Redd, Charlie Villanueva, T.J. Ford, Mo Williams, Boris Diaw, Leandro Barbosa, Mike Miller, Kirk Hinrich, Desmond Mason, Al Harrington, Josh Howard, Vince Carter, Mike James, Morris Peterson, Troy Murphy, Mike Dunleavy, Zach Randolph, Eddy Curry, Dan Gadzuric...

(Sigh)...It's going to be a long, frustrating off season, but I'm really anticipating seeing whats going to happen

i think most of them have.

um well i'd be looking to get a backup small forward unless we plan to use the small ball lineup...and oh yeah find someone to take Sheed

I'd throw the full MLE at Pietrus but something tells me he's got Ego problems. id throw a portion of the MLE at Bonzi and perhaps Ricky Davis.

If were looking to Bonzi and Ricky to turn things around, then we might as well nuke this bitch altogether.

despite the fact that both are headcases, Bonzi provides good rebounding for his size.

our bench isnt very consistent in scoring and brigning in ricky to help tay score woiuldnt be too bad of an idea. ricky can give us 10 points in lets say 15 minutes? i think so

Ricky Davis could be a decent bench player, especially on a team that won't need him to be anything more than that...

you don't think he'd get more than a 1 year deal elsewhere do you? because i'd be surprised...

simply put, ricky davis is better than jarvis hayes...ill leave it at that, last thing i want to do is get excited about the thought of ricky davis being a piston...than i would have totally lost it

Fucking :cogent:! There's no one here that can be gotten that's worth getting. If Joe actually does decide to nuke it from orbit, I'll completely understand and stop talking shit about him like I've been doing for the past 24 hours.

I thin class is good for the Pistons because we don't have money anyway. That means that the teams that want to make a big splash or shake up will have to do it via trade. That means our players are more valuable then if there were a ton of other options you could sign without giving up anything. If Joe wants to change things up, this is a good time to do it IMO.

I agree. I think we were deep enough already this year. We just play like shit and coast. The last thing we need are more "issues" here.
