Cross 05-30-2008, 11:43 PM rip/sheed for jrich or geraldwallace/emeka
whoever we get frmo char, we get rebounding for sure. jrich is a pretty good rebounder because he's bigger than rip. emeka obviously is a better rebounder than sheed but hes got no post game, but then detrtoit never had any post points anyways.
WTFchris 05-31-2008, 02:50 PM if we bring in Emeka, then Max has to go. Can't have those two playing together up front.
I'd rather do Sheed/Max/#29 for Emeka and #9 (would they do that? If not a future pick could be included).
use #9 on Jordan.
BIG BEN'S FRO 06-05-2008, 01:37 PM Chris, I actually think they would consider that, and honestly I would consider that a steal. We would get a chance to land two future starters. You can't go wrong at #9.
Yours Truly,
Rodney White
Glenn 06-05-2008, 01:40 PM How much $ to you give Okafor then?
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-05-2008, 01:42 PM How much $ to you give Okafor then?
less than what he's already turned down, especially after his '08 campaign...
Glenn 06-05-2008, 01:43 PM How do you know that he'll take less? That would be the reason that Charlotte would deal him, wouldn't it?
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-05-2008, 01:45 PM How do you know that he'll take less? That would be the reason that Charlotte would deal him, wouldn't it?
I don't know that he'll take less, he probably won't because then he would be admitting he made a mistake last offseason. I just don't think hes worth that much money, long term...
WTFchris 06-05-2008, 02:03 PM How do you know that he'll take less? That would be the reason that Charlotte would deal him, wouldn't it?
Sergei took less to play out west for Anaheim. Maybe he values winning more.
Glenn 06-05-2008, 02:12 PM So do you do a deal for Okafor and just "hope" that he'll take less?
WTFchris 06-05-2008, 02:20 PM You'd hope he wants a resonable amount to be here and you work out that before making the trade.
Worst case is you make the deal regardless and he wants big money. Does he find a team with big money? Who knows. Maybe you work out a S&T after next year. Maybe he just walks. In that case you got a one year rental for Sheed. If he doesn't sign an extension, you can work out a deadling deal with him I guess.
I don't know. It wouldn't be the first deal I do, but I'd rather take the chance on Emeka signing and the #9 then stand pat with Sheed and Max when I know neither provides a long term post solution.
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-05-2008, 03:48 PM the only way CHAR can deal him is in a S&T right?
Glenn 06-05-2008, 03:56 PM Hmm, maybe.
I thought maybe that they could sign him to the one year qualifying offer and then deal him, but I don't think you can trade players on 1 year deals.
Wasn't that what happened with Dallas and Devin George? They automatically get "No trade" clauses?
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-05-2008, 04:40 PM Wasn't that what happened with Dallas and Devin George? They automatically get "No trade" clauses?
Devean had Bird Rights, and that comes from signing a bunch of one year deals, which Emeka hasn't done...
If emeka signs the qualifying (7.08 million), then theres no way charlotte would trade him, b/c they'd be getting pennies on the dollar in return...
Uncle Mxy 06-07-2008, 12:11 AM I wonder what MJ wants...
Vinny 06-07-2008, 03:18 AM I wonder what MJ wants...
I wonder what LB wants....Jordan'll listen to him...
Wilfredo Ledezma 06-07-2008, 10:25 AM Is MJ actually their GM?? I thought it was Bickerstaff...
Zekyl 06-12-2008, 07:11 PM Sergei took less to play out west for Anaheim. Maybe he values winning more.
Actually, Sergei took the exact same amount we offered him. Both teams offered him an identical contract and he just wanted to get a fresh start out there.
WTFchris 06-13-2008, 10:32 AM Actually, you are dead wrong. Federov turned down 10 mil a year to stay here (twice) for 8 mil a year in Anaheim:
In the 2003 offseason, Fedorov signed with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anaheim_Ducks) after a long contract dispute with the Red Wings, in which he rejected deals for 5 years/$50 million and 4 years/$40 million.
Six-time All-Star Sergei Fedorov (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?statsId=0033) signed a five-year, $40 million contract with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=ana) on Saturday, leaving the Detroit Red Wings (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=det) after 13 seasons and three NHL titles.
ESPN The Magazine's E.J. Hradek has learned that the contract terms are $10 million for 2003-04, $6 million in 2004-05 and $8 million a year for 2005-06 through 2007-08. Fedorov has an option to become a free agent after years two and three of the deal.
Zekyl 06-13-2008, 10:34 AM My mistake. I thought he signed a 4 year 40mill with them, not 5 year.
Glenn 07-22-2008, 10:42 AM Would Okafor be a BYC player in any S&T scenario?
Glenn 07-22-2008, 10:50 AM Would Okafor be a BYC player in any S&T scenario?
Ah, but Charlotte has cap space, so maybe that's not a problem?
Zekyl 07-22-2008, 12:26 PM So can Larry convince Michael that Sheed would be a good fit and to S&T Okafor for him?
