Bill Simmons told Deadspin.com that he's cutting back on his column-writing for ESPN.com in protest of some ESPN policies: "Certain promises were not kept. It's as simple as that."

Last month ESPN torpedoed Simmons' plans to interview Sen. Barack Obama for his podcast, with a company spokesman saying: "Fans don't expect political coverage on our air."

Well, ESPN is right that no one wants to see Obama on ESPN. But they shouldn't have promised him anything either, if that's indeed what they did.

Clinton was on the SI cover following big nasty's title run....I have no problem with it, and would in fact make a point to listen to TBSG interview anyone of such consequence. I would hope it would have been 80% sports, 10 percent yuks, 10 percent fluff.

I'm guessing that they would have let Dan Patrick interview him for his old ESPN the Mag "last page" bit that he used to do.

Fuck Disney.

Have you watched a Simmons podcast? Dude is awful. I'd rather they not allow him to do any, let alone this particular one. I might have watched it though.

Patrick is a terrible bore but I'd give him a shot at the interview before Simmons. Guy whould not be in front of a camera.
