The San Antonio Spurs, fresh off a Game 7 win over the New Orleans Hornets, were planning a quick getaway to Los Angeles to prepare to face the Lakers in the Western Conference finals.

Instead, they spent the night in their grounded plane in New Orleans.

League sources have confirmed a report from French radio station RMC, which quoted Spurs guard Tony Parker as saying the team learned at 2 a.m. Central Time that due to a technical problem, their plane would be stuck on the ground until 7 a.m. (8 a.m. ET).

According to the report, Parker said the Spurs could not find hotel rooms in New Orleans, leaving the team no option but to sleep on the plane.

San Antonio uses the charter company Champion Air, which has announced it is ceasing all operations at the end of May.

Even the Spurs' charter company is DONE.

Also, the unidentified "MoTown owns" vote is from me.

As you know, the site has been acting funny and the poll got posted before I could add that last poll option.

Bad matchup for the Fakers.

Nobody to guard Duncan and nobody to stop the Little Tony/Flopobili penetration.

The Eastern champ beats the Spurs for the title, though.

Screw you guys. If I'm the only one take the Lakers, so be it. LA can't stop TD and SA can't stop Gasol either (the cast of hacks that play along side TD are going to put them in the penalty fast). Kobe can keep Manu at bay. Odom will own whoever they put on him (TD?). As long as Fisher/Farmar force jumpers from TP they should be OK.

+10 for Glenn. You messed up and forgot to add MoTown Owns, so you did extra work to go fix it. I am truly impressed.

Glenn Owns.

I dont now, as much as it probably hurt them. the fact that they can get up 20 on them in the first place should worry the lakers. Especially in a low scoring game.

Gasol receives passes from Kobe (+) but also looks like one of the Geico cavemen (-). It's a wash for Pau.

I thought the Spurs looked worn out. fighting off being DONE in that N.O. series seems to have drained them. If Ginobli doesnt find his shot, they are screwed.

If Detroit wins against Boston, I hope they get to face SA. SA is crippled and old and has Robert "LOL" Horry.

Lakers by 5.

Look for the Sterns to shoot anywhere from 10-15 more free throws than the Lakers.

I'm looking for Odom to wake up (6 of 12 for 18 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists), TD to play hard while getting a tech (26 points and 16 rebounds) and Manu to come back down earth (more like 6 of 13 for 21 points).

Joey Crawford might not get out of that city alive after tonight. My...God..... He is treading death threat territory.

i don't like ticky-tack fouls being called. i like the players to play and the refs to swallow their whistles on the last posession in particular. BUT that foul on barry HAD to be called. not in the act but he should've been at the line for 2 shots IMO.

unfortunately the way the nba is these days, you don't get those foul calls unless you dramatize the foul by diving to the floor like you've been shot. if barry had done that the game would've gone to OT after he hit his 2 FTs.

spurs are on the ropes now. oh well...

I wonder if the fans in SA are acting like us Pistons fans (Blow up the team, Fire Pops, etc.) then again it's wrong for me to compare us to SA, they're core won 3 titles, we won 1...

I'm not here...

Among the several motivational ploys used by coach Phil Jackson was a pre-game screening of Alec Baldwin's famous speech from "Glengarry Glen Ross." The movie, you might recall, features Baldwin as a real estate hustler, though in the minds of his underlings — all of them semi-broken salesmen — he might as well have been the prince of darkness.

"You know what it takes?" he asks, reaching into his attaché case to display two metallic spheres dangling from a string. "Brass balls ...

"The money's out there, you pick it up. You don't, I got no sympathy for you. You want to go out and close ... close! It's yours. If not, you'll be shining my shoes ..."

"Always be closing," Jackson said Thursday afternoon. Apparently, what holds true for David Mamet's real estate hustlers applies to ballplayers as well. "It's the way it is in this game."

Some hours later, after Jackson's Lakers had concluded an improbably lopsided 4-1 trouncing of the defending champions in the Western Conference finals, Kobe Bryant was asked if the film had been effective.

"We got the message," he said.

You want to be a good father? Fuck you. Go home and play with your kids.

You want to be a good colleague? Fuck you. Go home and send a MySpace message to Kevin Garnett, tell him you want to take him out to dinner.
