View Full Version : Orlando still thinks they better than Detroit
Cross 05-16-2008, 03:07 AM The Orlando Sentinel -
The Magic still believe that they are better than the Pistons, despite the fact that Detroit eliminated them in five quick games earlier this week, according to The Orlando Sentinel.
"I think we're the better team," Hedo Turkoglu said. "If you look at the games closely it upsets me."
Turkoglu wasn't the only player to hold that opinion.
"I don't want to say they're the better team, but they're the smarter team," Rashard Lewis said.
"No doubt we're as good as Detroit," Dwight Howard said.
"I think we're a better basketball team -- at times," General Manager Otis Smith said. "What they have that we don't have is experience."
Mr. Oobir 05-16-2008, 03:12 AM The Orlando who?
Uncle Mxy 05-16-2008, 05:34 AM I love the Orlando Tragic. They lose with our best player and mismatch out for 3 games, and think they're better than us?!? I note that their other amazing starters aren't quoted. Where's that defensive superstud MoEvans, or that overpowering big guard Jameer Nelson?!?
Timone 05-16-2008, 06:12 AM The Washington Wizards think the Orlando Magic need to STFU.
Big Swami 05-16-2008, 07:31 AM Ball don't lie
Wilfredo Ledezma 05-16-2008, 07:41 AM Wow. Those quotes are by far the most pathetic thing I've ever read. Sour grapes.
Dwight Howard- you have no post up moves, you can't shoot, you can't make free throws, you look at the ref after every time you turn the ball over...shut the fuck up son...
Glenn 05-16-2008, 09:07 AM Hell, these guys sound like us after we lost to Cleveland (and Miami).
Uncle Mxy 05-16-2008, 09:49 AM Hell, these guys sound like us after we lost to Cleveland (and Miami).
It took us months to talk serious smack in the wake of our losses.
Higherwarrior 05-16-2008, 09:50 AM for a team that has never done ANYTHING, they're ridiculously cocky and arrogant. at least with our guys they had been champs before they got that sort of attitude. and even since, we've been to numerous conference finals in a row (6 altogether).
what has orlando done? oh yeah- they beat TORONTO in the 1st round just this year. LMFAO
nelson had some comments to the effect that "if they thought it would be easy against us, they don't think so anymore"
guess that depends on your definition of 'easy' jameer. true, you are a team that can beat us if we take you lightly. but when we got down to business we beat you. in 5 games. i hardly think a team that gets beaten in a series in 5 games by a team missing its best player for 2 of those games is a 'force to be reckoned with' by any means.
they've got some great athletes and really good shooters. but they've got miles and miles to go before they can even think of being as good as us.
if they are going to really do anything and mature as a team, then they need to drop that mentality ASAP. if they're thinking that way now, imagine when they mature and get better how cancerous that attitude will be.
they're acting like they deserve respect. why? because you beat toronto? because we didn't sweep you this year but took a whole 5 games to eliminate you?
their mindset is a bit like a 10 year old thinking he's the world's best cocksman shortly after he's had his first erection. give me a break. *roll eyes*
Glenn 05-16-2008, 09:59 AM I'm interested to see McCosky's take on this arrogance.
lol
Glenn 05-16-2008, 10:00 AM It also seems to me that they have inherited their "persecution complex" from their head coach.
Timone 05-16-2008, 07:22 PM This is like Lakers fans saying the Pistons winning in 04 was a fluke.
DrRay11 05-16-2008, 08:05 PM Well, that was somewhat more legitimate.. That team had taken a few titles.
Orlando hasn't done shit.
Black Dynamite 05-16-2008, 08:08 PM I never see fluke in us kicking their Faker asses. No fluke to it, and no fluke to SA beating us. Flukes are for whiners. :mccosky:
Glenn 05-16-2008, 08:13 PM Re: Orlando still thinks they better than Detroit
I think it's more like, "Orlando still saying they better than Detroit".
Timone 05-16-2008, 08:14 PM If the refs would've just gotten it right in game 2 and determined that Billups didn't get that shot off in time, Orlando would've won this series!
DrRay11 05-16-2008, 08:52 PM No doubt about it.
Orlando was the better team with their championship-winning style of play, chucking the three ball and hoping an overgrown man gets the rebound.
Kstat 05-16-2008, 10:52 PM It worked for Houston in 1994.
FatKid 05-17-2008, 03:04 AM talk about a bunch of whiney bitches.
Cross 05-17-2008, 03:09 AM whats up with this team. do they wanna start a rivalry or someshit? because the teams need to be close in terms of skills, and obviously they arent.
and i hate stan van gundy fucking hate that fat fuck god!
geerussell 05-17-2008, 02:43 PM For a group of players who've never won anything to feel they're better than the team who has beaten them 8 out of 9 playoff games is delusional.
In a couple years, if Orlando can retool with a legitimate backcourt and if Howard can develop some footwork in the post (always an underrated facet of Shaq's game when he was in his prime) and add 8-10% to his FT shooting... Orlando will be in a position to challenge the top teams in the east.
