Been some mild hype for the game, must say that I found this trailer to be impressive. Some solid gameplay graphics as i've seen in motion(looks like a futuristic call of duty 4). I can only hope the gameplay itself measures up.

Zekyl 05-15-2008, 09:44 AM Is it going to be for 360?
DrRay11 05-15-2008, 11:26 AM Nope, PS3 only --
too bad it got pushed back again til Feb '09, I saw. O well, at least Haze got some nice reviews from Famitsu (36/40), but we'll see how well it does with American reviews.
O Killzone 2 looks badass, one of the best games I've seen in motion; the pics don't do it justice.
Black Dynamite 05-15-2008, 01:22 PM Yea, the actual gameplay footage is terrific. All they have to do is make sure they dont fuck up the online play and the control playibility.
About Haze. Its hard to tell yet, mainly because the demo isnt anything to help you judge the game. I may get someone at the game store to pop it in so i can try it out. . The 4 player co-op is enticing though.
DrRay11 05-15-2008, 03:28 PM Yeah, apparently the demo is the one from last year's E3, which is hardly a good indication of the game's current state... Hopefully it's good though. I've noticed some similarities to Halo 3 in terms of visibility of the enemy, which is hardly realistic, but it is what makes Halo what it is, IMO. A bunch of people with no shooter/military savvy love that game because of it.... My theory anyways. Do you know what I'm saying? Bright, colorful enemies that never blend with the background? Makes for easy targets... I doubt Halo fans will flock to PS3 because of this game, but it's just something I noticed.
Back to Killzone == yeah, the one thing I'm really concerned about is the controls, which they are trying to make realistic in terms of recoil and such, but if they overdo that, it will become frustrating. I hope they can find the right balance.

This was the first glimpse we got into what "next gen" was supposed to be like. I remember seeing the Killzone 2 trailer at what must have been the 2005 E3 and was absolutely blown away. I remember thinking, "There's no way that that gameplay is going to be like this." Not sure what took them 3 years, but hopefully the actual gameplay is at least similar to that legendary trailer. If it is, I'm buying a PS3 the day the game comes out.

Check it out...
Black Dynamite 05-17-2008, 02:41 PM Well thats the older trailer. Definitely looks like it was in its early stages.
Not sure what took them 3 years,
Actually 3-4 years is about on par for a group making its first PS3 game ever from scratch with no set required timeline.

True direct feed Gameplay footage from someone playing the demo at Sony Gamers Day 08 (not a trailer), looks alot like COD4 style wise.
Interview with the developer.

So you make a super sweet trailer, and then don't release the game to the public for 3 years? Seems kinda wierd.
DrRay11 05-21-2008, 09:16 AM Well it's different when the trailer is done entirely with CG... lol.
DrRay11 05-21-2008, 09:16 AM Also, Haze looks to suck with its latest review scores.
Black Dynamite 05-21-2008, 10:19 AM Its definitely not getting much love. The presentation value and game play mechanics seem to fail on it pretty badly based on reviews. It's co-op value seem to be its only redeeming factor, but nope it doesn't seem to be worth 60 dollars. I thin free radical had a nice idea, but it didnt seem to come out right.

As a teacher your spelling of weird is unacceptable Moodini, I'm disappointed in you man. :(
Not if thats all you built at the time. again its their first time developing on the cell processor and Sony has been cool enough to not give them a deadline. If they did the game would be out, but not as polished as they are looking to make it. Credit to Insomniac for getting resistance done by the deadline, but its not even close to being the game they want to make and they were working on resistance 2 possibly even before part 1 hit the store shelves. I think whatever group working on Killzone 2 knows that its stuck being compared to halo and that unlike the last killzone, they want to get it right enough to be good enough to hold that pressure.
Just wanted to add a quick reply on the “delay” of Killzone 2 to Feb 2009. To be clear, there is nothing wrong or causing a delay to the development of the title. We (SECA) had to look at the fall calendar with SOCOM, LittleBigPlanet, MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, Resistance 2, plus some PSN titles and make a decision where each game should come out. Killzone 2 was moved to Feb 2009 to make sure we didn’t have three shooters in the marketplace competing for retail dollars during the same holiday season. The game will be great and it will be out in Feb 2009 in both Europe and North America.
Hope this helps - alot of times we gamers read delay and think something is wrong, in this case, it was a pure management decision.
