It's about that time of the year. School is coming to an end, the summer and it's time for the annual Moodini NCAA Football hype post. I haven't looked into it too much, but this is the first real site I've checked out on it. Check out some (ratings) screenshots (D Warren is stunner!) and the video at the very bottom. Apparently there's going to be an online dynasty mode. Niiiiice!

It's nice and all that they fixed the player models and added cheerleaders, but EA better not think it's going to compensate in any way for the fact their games have been disappointing over the years.

By the way, I was sarcastic when I was talking about the cheerleaders.

I'm honestly not all that excited about this either. I can't remember the last football game I absolutely loved. NFL 2k5? The only reason I'll even give this game a look is being able to be in an online dynasty with my boys.

I became 100% less excited for this game when I learned about 10 teams would still be without their unique home stadium...one of which being my CMU Chippewas. This is year 3 of "next gen", what a load of bullshit.

No excuse for that. This is the kind of crap that happens when sports games are exclusives. No need to go that extra mile.

What makes it worse is that 10-15 new ones were added this year....Western Michigan, Toledo, maybe another MAC school. We just won back-to-back MAC Championships and they couldn't put us in the game? At least give us a generic stadium that resembles our field, not a giant bowl.

I can't wait until EAs contract runs out so there can again be competition. I'm sick of this game and Madden, yet I'm always suckered into buying them because well that's the only way to get my summer football fix.

I've got a 360, and I may say that I'm not too excited about it now, but I guarantee I buy it the first day. Online dynasty would be sweet.

I played the demo a couple times...yawn. First off I don't like either OSU or LSU and I don't wanna play at the Hourseshoe. Perriloux is still in the game. 2 minute quarters on varsity difficulty is boring as fuck.

Played the demo... was ok. Can't really judge when it's set on 2 minute quarters on Varsity.

In addition to not having the CMU stadium, I'm guessing they don't have steel construction beams surrounding Michigan Stadium. Come on, get real!

Only thing I really can say is that it's a lot smoother than 08 and I'll probably have a better time playing it... not that it's saying much or anything.

I'll tell ya what, if they still can't even get the throwing and running motions fixed (and they can't), I don't expect them to put out anything decent.

I downloaded the demo and started playing it and stopped because I was bored. Keep in mind the quarters are 2 minutes long and I still couldn't stick it out. The online dynasty mode better be amazing, otherwise I'm going to pass on this one.

Sounds good Muhme, but I think you were also going off about '07, IMO which was one of the buggiest games of all time. I'm going to have to wait it out and read some reviews.

I LOVE VIDEO GAME SMACK

From what I've been hearing, the game is an absolute mess. People are trying to share rosters (now available on the game) and if you manually change the roster in any way, the game freezes and you lose the roster. Also hearing gameplay is basically the same as last year, but even easier on offense. Juke moves work incredibly well, and you'll routinely see guys break 2 or 3 tackles per run. Look out for tons of huge plays! There's also a new "ice the kicker" feature, where you call a timeout before the kick (Shanahan style) and the kicker is just about guaranteed to miss, even on chip shots. I've also heard that punt and kick returns are absolute cake, and you're guaranteed 30 yards per return, easy. Apparently programmers at EA are working feverishly to put out a patch. Also, just about nothing has changed in Dynasty or Campus Legend modes.

On a positive note, it sounds like the online dynasty is prettysweet with a designated commish who's able to set up the rules, invite friends, boot "coaches" for not playing their games on time, advance weeks, and invite more friends mid-season. Also, you're able to add custom sound effects from your hard drive for 3rd downs, sacks, touchdowns, kickoffs, etc. Sounds pretty cool.

Gamespot gave the game a 75%.

I'm going to wait on this one. I don't like the idea of a new game coming out that needs a patch immediately. If I hear AMAZING things about the patch, I MIGHT pick it up.

I am just about complete with my first online dynasty... My buddy is Wake and I am Clemson. Clemson's gamebreakers are excellent. Spiller, Ford and Davis...MAKE PLAYS... interesting...because they actually make plays in real life too...who woulda thunk it? My buddy that is wake is having a hellova time. He is on the same skill level as me pretty much, but just doesnt have any game changers or play makers... he has struggled through his season thus far... offense has been hard as hell for him and he is just above .500. So when you have these guys that youre reading about saying its cake, and breaking plays is easy... when you use guys like Pat White, Beanie, Spiller, Tebow etc etc... its going to be easier...because THEY ACTUALLY MAKE PLAYS LIKE THAT IN REAL LIFE! Name one time that Beanie gets hammered on the first touch? LMFAO... if you play with a team that isnt that good...you wont see the exploits...

The ice the kicker is no where near impossible to make... Also, it depends on how good your kicker is... My boy with Wake has been iced 3-4 times and hit them all...Swank is one of the best kickers around... I am 1-2 with my kicker at Clemson...but the kid is a soph and he is mediocre at best. The punt and kick returns... it depends on how good your return man is, plus the team youre playing... FSU murdered me and I couldnt return anything on them... however D00k was a total joke and didnt cover the kicks for shit... (interesting... sounds real huh?!)

Some people just crack me up with this shit... they expect guys like Avery Horn to run like a fucking animal...and when he doesnt... the cpu's d line is too strong... then when Spiller kills or beanie blows by people, they say the d line sucks dick...

Pretty much right on the money here, however...

I've been iced 3 times and I'm 3/3. You know when the icing is coming so if line the ball up near the center you're fine.

Online dynasty is also buggy. Dynastys are having to be restarted because files become corrupted, people recruit after playing their game, hijacking....it's just pretty much f*cked.

Shitty game overall. Full of bugs. If I wasn't such a fan of college football I would've gotten rid of it. Once the season starts I probably won't need this anymore.

Unlike years past, I'm not going to make the mistake of buying it first.

I've actually found myself playing 04, 06, and 07 on the PS2 as of late. Been having a good time. If I rent 09, think it's good, and then decide to buy it, it'll probably be for PS2.
