So, in total, we play 4 games outdoors, and have just two 4:00 starts (@ SF, @ HOU), all games are on FOX except for Thanksgiving and the Jaguars game.
Predictions, thoughts...?
No Monday night or Sunday night...again.
Wouldn't surprise me if we are 2-1 going into the Bye.
WTFchris 04-15-2008, 05:11 PM 7 wins. If they have a stellar draft I might change my mind, but I'll believe that when I see it.
Tahoe 04-15-2008, 05:26 PM Maybe 6 wins.
Tahoe 04-15-2008, 05:38 PM "No MNF or SNF...again"
And why, with how much these networks pay for the right to broadcast games, would any of them want to sell a Detroit Lions game to the public?

I don't know, why do the Raiders get to be on MNF and we don't?
I don't know about you, but I get pretty tired of seeing the Eagles or Broncos on MNF or SNF each week...at least keep fans from different markets interested...
Theres no reason why the Browns should have 3 MNF games and 2 SNF games and us have none, they didn't even make the playoffs either...
I don't give a shit really, I just hate bias going into things like this. It's like Yankees/Red Sox, whenever those 2 play a weekend series, no matter their records, we're obligated to having at least 2 of those 3 games on either FOX or ESPN...as if anybody out side of NY, Boston or ESPN really gives a flying fuck about the rivalry...
Glenn 04-15-2008, 07:30 PM Same shit, different year.

Cowboys only have 1 MNF if I'm correct.
Wilfredo Ledezma 04-15-2008, 07:43 PM at least we get to play Vince Young on Thanksgiving...even though I think he's way overrated...beats having to watch Favre...
The Lions used to get some MNF games even when they sucked. I remember when we packed the Dome against the Bears during the Darryl Rogers years. I'm pretty sure it was 85 and the Lions were calling the game their Super Bowl. They were even competitive and had a lead for bit.
Timone 04-15-2008, 08:34 PM The Lions deserve at least one Monday night game... MNF has fucking sucked ass the last 3-4 years, so why not? Just look at all the shitty matchups for this upcoming season...Vikings-Packers is a snoozefest, Ravens-Steelers will have me asleep before the opening kick off, and who the fuck cares about the Broncos-Raiders anymore?
There's other crap games, but that's all I care to remember right now.
Wilfredo Ledezma 04-15-2008, 10:16 PM I don't care for the MNF broadcast booth either, Tirico is better suited for Golf and NBA, not NFL.
Kornheiser doesn't bring anything of any value to the broadcast. Jaws is the only one who knows shit, but his demeanor is just awkward, he's better suited for pre-game analysis rather than live color commentary.
Timone 04-15-2008, 10:18 PM The booth is bleh, but the main issue for me is the actual games.
It seems like NBC gets all the good games.
Zekyl 04-16-2008, 01:21 AM The Lions used to get some MNF games even when they sucked.
Wait, there was a time that they didn't? Oh man, fill me in!

NBC has the luxury of using flex scheduling so they can pick a different game before each week, whereas MNF's matchups are decided before the season...
should be flip-flopped if you ask me...
Timone 04-16-2008, 10:01 AM Yeah, I agree with you.
Either way, MNF sucks balls.
Wait, there was a time that they didn't? Oh man, fill me in!
Come on, don't turn you back on thsoe wonderful mediocre years of the great Wayne Fontes era.
Seriously, I just meant that even being the suck machine they are, they used to get some MNF game despite their record.
My dad has season tickets and my earliest MNF game memory is the 12 men on the field game agaisnt Dallas (I even remember Johnny Carson joking about it the next night). We sucked when we got the Bears in 85 too. I guess the best way to have said it was despite sucking, the Lions at least used to get MNF games.
Timone 04-16-2008, 12:35 PM I would've liked to see the Lions play the Patriots on MNF.
Timone 04-17-2008, 06:37 PM You'd think they'd be able to win those first 3 right now, if you look at it on paper...maybe even the first 4, since there isn't really a lot of optimism about the Bears.
I'm just going to mark down the games they'll have a chance to win, or should win, but will choke in...
9/7- @ Falcons
9/14- Packers
9/21- @ 49ers
9/28- BYE WEEK
10/5- Bears
10/12- @ Vikings
10/19- @ Texans
10/26- Redskins
11/2- @ Bears
11/9- Jaguars
11/16- @ Panthers
11/23- Buccaneers
11/27- Titans (THANKSGIVING)
12/7- Vikings
12/14- @ Colts
12/21- Saints
12/28- @ Packers
And maybe some other games...I'll revise at a later date.
Zekyl 04-18-2008, 09:30 AM You'd think they'd be able to win those first 3 right now, if you look at it on paper...maybe even the first 4
Don't be that guy.
You know they'll lose the bye-week.
Timone 04-18-2008, 09:39 AM Why would I be "that guy"?
I'm delusional, but I am NOT a delusional Lions fan!
15buckshort 04-21-2008, 10:23 PM Ill give us maybe 7 wins as well.....I'll give the lions credit when they deserve it, until then ill be a low-key lions fan haha..... but It is some shit that we can't even get considered for a monday night game. It would seem that Detroit would bring enough attention for a monday night game even with as shitty as the economy is here in good ol' michigan. We can't even sell out a wings game when there the best team in their sport. But go lions.........and i don't want my new roy williams jersey to go to waste, so i hope he doesnt have a tantric during the season to get traded.
This team will be hard to predict. If they run like they want to and use clock control the team "can" be better. A strong young back, with those receivers pulling the heat off of him will be huge. we just have to keep the offense on the field control the clock. This is rods first year as head coach in my eyes.
Zekyl 04-22-2008, 11:25 PM Give them an offensive line and anyone can control the clock. Too bad we have nothing resembling an offensive line.
No the line was looking good for a little while last year, if they pass block on everydown any line could look horrible. When we ran, and ran ofter, we looked good. We had the ability run we just didnt do it on a regular basis. Its easy to stop an offense that advertises what they are going to do. Run, build the lines confidence and playaction pass. I hope we run a Bill Cowher offense. GIVE ME 3 YARDS & A CLOUD OF DUST.
PS- No line looks good on 3 and 15.
Zekyl 04-24-2008, 01:42 PM That's very true, but we did lose a few pieces from that line, like Damien Woody finally starting to play well.
