Per the Detroit News, Zumaya is making strides and will start pitching off a mound May 1st...he's already throwing from 120 ft.
Fernando Rodney's last bullpen session went well, and he reported no pain, he will throw later in the week....
Thus said, heres what our pen could look like on June 1 (assuming we have 7 relief pitchers)
- Denny Bautista
- Aaron Fultz (lefty)- sported a sub 3 ERA last year in Cleveland, plus Leyland is killing for another lefty
- Francisco Cruceta (long relief)
- Fernando Rodney (set-up)
- Bobby Seay (lefty specialist)
- Joel Zumaya (set-up)
- Tood Jones (closer)
Rapada has options left so he will be sent down probably when Cruceta comes back, and I don't think there's a shot in hell Grilli stays if Fultz, Cruceta, Zoom & Rodney all end up on the 25 man
Aquilino has pitched well so far, but he will be an odd man out just by default, so will Francis Beltran
Zach Miner may be out of luck as well, I'm sure he could be moved via trade for a PTBNL or some A ball player
Suddenly, you get a pen like that, we could have 4 months of solid bullpen
