View Full Version : Official "What's Your Beer?" Thread
MoTown 04-10-2008, 12:47 PM Inspired from the "I'm not ashamed to admit..." thread.
What's your beer?
Do you have a top 10?
Is beer beneath you? (bukdow?)
Hermy likes High Life. Zekyl likes Natty Light.
Tahoe 04-10-2008, 01:12 PM Everyday beers...Budwieser, Coors light, when in Michigan Busch Light.
For dinner... Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Fosters, Heineken, Downtown Brown, St Pauli Girl.
For the last couple of weeks, its been Non-alcoholic St Pauli Girl
Glenn 04-10-2008, 01:19 PM Pretty much Amstel Light and Killians.
I'm not against the Champagne of Beers when I'm slumming it.
WTFchris 04-10-2008, 01:48 PM Fat Tire is my beer of choice. It's local and tastes great.
I drink pretty much any ale on tap though. Bass, Killians (fake ale), or whatever Red Ale/Honey Brown micro is on tap.
If you're talking going to a party and splitting a 12 pack with someone, than it's Labatte's.
Zekyl 04-10-2008, 04:41 PM Not sure when I became a Natty guy.....
My top two are Strong Bow and Killians, although Strong Bow is technically a dry cider so I'm not sure it counts. They have it on tap with all the other beers at the local irish places.
Timone 04-10-2008, 04:45 PM They have it on tap with all the other beers at the local irish places.
But you're not Irish.
Glenn 04-10-2008, 04:46 PM He's Clevelandish.
Zekyl 04-10-2008, 04:46 PM Nope. Doesn't mean I can't go to the pub.
Timone 04-10-2008, 04:49 PM Yeah, it does. Bootlick.
MoTown 04-10-2008, 05:05 PM Not sure when I became a Natty guy.....
Fraternity?
MoTown 04-10-2008, 05:12 PM I like Labatts, High Life, Miller Lite and Corona Light when watching a game.
I like Sam Adams, Amstel, Fosters and Dos Equis with Dinner.
Guinness is good when you're up for a thick beer.
Natty is good when you want to throw up.
Zekyl 04-10-2008, 05:43 PM Yes I'm in a fraternity, no I don't drink natty. I always get my own beer and at the very least its bud light, which I'm still not huge on but its cheap.
WTFchris 04-10-2008, 05:50 PM Dos Equis (amber preferred), Pacifico, Del Sol and Tecate are all good with Mexican foods. Corona is decent but I like the other Mexican beers a little better.
Tahoe 04-10-2008, 07:09 PM Dos E was good but I always preferrd Tres Equis. A lil stronger...even better with Mex food, imo.
Glenn 04-10-2008, 08:37 PM I've been converted over to Appalachian Pale Ale, you can usually find it under a green and white beer tent.
geerussell 04-11-2008, 11:02 AM Overall favorite: Bass ale
Favorite change of pace beers: fosters, rolling rock
Great once or twice a year beer: Chimay
Why did I buy this shit when it's skunky more than 50% of the time: Heineken
Piss I wouldn't drink if you paid me: Any miller product
Better than a water back for jack on the rocks: Budweiser
Stretching my last five-spot to keep a buzz rolling: PBR
DrRay11 04-11-2008, 11:03 AM Piss I wouldn't drink if you paid me: Any miller product
Thank you.
My favorite as of now: Sam Adam's Boston Lager.
Glenn 04-11-2008, 11:05 AM gee,
You'd drink a PBR over any Miller product?
Might as well have a Red, White and Blue, a Falstaff or an Altes.

Yes to all of the above (edit: and you can throw in black label and goebels too). Miller has a foul, foul aftertaste like it was brewed in sweaty shoes and filtered through skid-marked underwear. PBR and those others are basically just cheap and fizzy. They may be a little harsh but they have a reasonably clean finish that you can shake off when its done and move on with your life.
Miller leaves regrets that carry over into the next five things you taste.
NO BEER, yuk. Its like a meal. I look for something a little lighter, something you can drink all night.... JACK DANIELS
Tahoe 04-11-2008, 12:47 PM My ex-wife always called Miller High Life, bad breath beer. But those little hand grenade 8oz ers were one of the coolest packaging things. One swig...done! Obviously for women. I think they came in a 8 pack.
Mickey big mouths was a good thing too.
geerussell 04-11-2008, 01:48 PM Beer is yucky.
NO BEER, yuk.
[smilie=rulez.gif]No beer haters in the beer thread.
stonecolddano 04-11-2008, 05:31 PM My bad...... im out
Was that you or your half-a liver talking?
CindyKate 04-11-2008, 07:50 PM Tsingtao
My favorite Mexican beer is Negra Modelo.
Belgian Beer, just about any brand and especially their darker beer, is fantastic.

Tahoe 04-11-2008, 09:20 PM I both love and hate this thread right now.
Great example Uxka. And one of those beers with a tradition of coming from an Abbey. Would love to visit there.

Why is that? Spendy?

When I went to Belgium I stayed two nights in the Chimay hotel. It was awesome. They have Chimay brews that you can't buy anywhere else in the world (They even date the blue Chimays like champagne and you can pay hundreds for one bottle). A forest separates the monistary from the hotel and there are little shrines and clearings with statues in the forest. Lastly, your hotel mini-fridge is stocked with only Chimay (some non-beers of course). Oh, Chimay also makes cheese and if you like cheese, it's as good as the beer and they have it in abundance. Overall one of the awesomest experiences I've had.
Vinny 04-11-2008, 10:35 PM Why is that? Spendy?
I get pretty Slurry and headachey from Chimay and Duvel and the like. Love it, but it's not exactly an every-day, have a couple with the boys type beer.
D's Nuts 04-12-2008, 06:18 PM Anyone had Delirium? It's Belgian and awesome. 10% alcohol. It has pink elephants on the glass and on the bottle. It also comes in 750 mL bottles.
We did a beer tasting at work yesterday and that was hands down my favorite.
geerussell 04-12-2008, 10:11 PM My beer of the day: Grolsch

D's Nuts 04-13-2008, 12:48 PM Here is what I tasted Friday at work:
Stiegl
Hofbrau Original
Hirter
Flying Dog Pale Ale
Hofbrau Hefeweizen
Weihenstephaner
Anchor Steam
Hirter Morehl
Delirium
Chimay
Youngs Double Chocolate Stout
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, beer.
Zekyl 04-13-2008, 01:00 PM Hofbrau Hefeweizen
Is that the darker of them? I've had the darker one but I can't remember what the name was.

It's a little darker but it isn't the darkest they go. Not bad but I liked the next one down the list better.
I have a mad crush on Delirium right now.
Zekyl 04-13-2008, 01:27 PM I'll have to try it sometime.
Tahoe 04-13-2008, 02:14 PM Hahn. I've never tried but want to cuz of this add.

Zekyl 04-13-2008, 02:19 PM That commercial makes me SO happy!
defrocked 04-22-2008, 05:26 PM Whoa, never saw this thread before. My overall favorite is Bell's Two-Hearted Ale, an IPA, but my current seasonal favorite is of course Oberon.
Glenn 04-22-2008, 05:44 PM An Oberon fan in Kzoo? No way.
I used to drink it all the time in college when it was still called "Solsun". I think they had to change the name for legal reasons.
It's good shit, no doubt.
