Manu was their BEST player this year. He won a lot of games that Duncan was unable to.

Unfortunately, that reflects as much on him as it does both parker and Duncan performing below their standards.

And Barry i just don't expect anything out of. He can't sit out 2 months and return playoff-ready. He wasn't doing them any good when he WAS playing.

Brent Barry is a guy with playoff experience, you're exaggerating as if he's fom another team and was literally sitting around eating cupcakes all day. He knows the scheme and shouldnt be too far behind physically in the playoffs if he's kept himself in shape. Maybe he's no help though, hard to say yet.

Police investigate preferential treatment in Anthony DUI case

Denver cops reportedly took Nuggets star to a hotel and then drove his car to city-owned police lot

DENVER (KWGN) — The Denver Police Department has launched an investigation into whether several of its officers gave preferential treatment to Denver Nugget player Carmelo Anthony during his arrest, News2 has learned.

The basketball star was arrested early Monday morning on suspicion of DUI, just hours after his worst game of the season.

The arrest happened around 4:00 a.m., just hours after the Denver Nuggets beat the Houston Rockets. Denver Police said Anthony was driving southbound on Interstate 25 near 20th Street.

Anthony was reportedly alone at the time and swerving through traffic with his high-beam headlights on. A DUI traffic officer who responded first, but when Anthony became belligerent, that officer called his sergeant.

Anthony was then handcuffed and taken to Denver Health Medical Center where he submitted to a blood test. That's when police called Anthony's fiancee to pick him up.

The law states when you're arrested for DUI in Denver, you're either taken to Detox or released to a sober, responsible party. Anthony's fiancee refused to come get him, leaving police with only one choice -- take Anthony to Detox. Instead, the sergeant who responded personally took Anthony in his police car to the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in downtown Denver, were Anthony and his fiancee were staying.

Denver Police Spokesperson Sonny Jackson defended the officer's actions, saying, "The fact is, Anthony was charged with a crime. He went through all procedures he was supposed to go through by the letter of the law. If that sergeant decided to go above and beyond through a personal relationship, that's his decision. I can't say there was anything wrong in the officer's actions."

In addition to the Sergeant driving Anthony to his hotel, another officer drove Anthony's $130,000 silver Mercedes to a parking lot at the Denver Police Traffic Operations Bureau until he could pick it up later in the day. Typically, the arresting officer would tow a car involved in a DUI case to an impound yard or drive it to a safe, but neutral location.

"While it may appear strange, the bottom line is, I'm not answering questions as to why his car was vandalized because we put it in an unsafe place where it could be," said Jackson.

Denver Police say they stand by their decisions even though some believe Anthony may have received special treatment. Jackson said, "Perceptions are everything, and I understand that. People perceive a lot of things. Ultimately, I'd rather answer questions about perceptions than why a car got vandalized."

In the meantime, Anthony is awaiting his blood test results to determine if he will, in fact, be charged with DUI. He did release a statement saying he regrets putting himself in this situation and he apologizes to his fans, the community and his teammates.

It's a question that's perplexing Golden State Warriors fans: Why did coach Don Nelson sit Baron Davis for the second half of a game the Warriors needed to win to stay alive in the Western Conference race -- a game Golden State lost, eliminating the team from the playoffs?

Nelson said the explanation was "real simple," according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

"He was having a bad game. He was terrible," Nelson said of Davis, according to the Chronicle. "He was the worst player on the floor, and I told him to take the second half off. He was 2-for-13, we were down 14 points. "I said, 'Hey, let's relax and play some young guys.'"

The Warriors, down 71-57 to the Suns at halftime, stormed back with a 38-19 third quarter to take the lead with Davis on the bench. But they could not hold on down the stretch as the Suns won 122-116, assuring there won't be a repeat of Golden State's stunning series win as a No. 8 seed in this year's playoffs.

Davis, for his part, has said very little about his benching in the second half. "Ain't your story" is all he said to reporters after the game, and in a blog entry on his Web site, he offered little more insight.

"I hate losing," Davis wrote. "I play this game to win, and it's even harder when I feel like I wasn't able to help my team do that."

But Nelson said there's not a personal rift between himself and Davis, despite the benching.

"There's no problem between Baron and [me]," Nelson said, according to the report. "He's probably upset because he played terrible."

Davis' agent, however, is still looking for answers.

"The same questions that you have are the same questions that I have," Ramasar said Tuesday, according to the Chronicle."Why wasn't Baron on the floor? Was there an injury, argument, questions, whatever? I've asked the same things.

"There was no injury. Nothing was said. It was a coach's decision, which is odd ... with so much that hinged on [Monday] night's game," he said, according to the report. "Obviously, [Baron] wanted to be in there playing. He's asking himself why he wasn't in the game. But it was a coach's decision."

Davis can opt out of the final year of his contract, which would pay him $17.2 million. But Ramasar said that is unlikely, because there are no teams with enough salary cap room to pay Davis that kind of money.
