Reminds me of my first couple years in the league in Houston. The top eight teams [are] just ... wow. But let them do their battle in the West. They can have it. We'll be ready for whoever comes out." Tahoe 04-02-2008, 08:20 PM Walsh is the boss in NY, Zeke out? b-diddy 04-02-2008, 10:53 PM he'll 'decide in a few days'. lol. if my boss told me he would decide whether im fired in a few days, i would start dusting up my resume. sayanara zeke, too bad indiana just filled your next job. Timone 04-02-2008, 11:02 PM Even though it will not happen, it'd be hilarious to see Joe bring in Isiah to coach the Pistons. b-diddy 04-02-2008, 11:18 PM or the shock? im not as anti-zeke as some, but i'd rather not let him touch the pistons. maybe he can take tony ranzone's job and in years we have multiple second round picks we would let him make one. b-diddy 04-02-2008, 11:21 PM jason kidd finally giving the mavs what they expected when they traded for him. he played tonight like a mad man, outtoughed gsw. not on the same lvl, but this game reminded me a little of the suns/spurs game when shaq dove into the stands and refused to let duncan help him up. everything suddenly clicked. dallas will make the playoffs. they might still lose in the first round, but they wont be the easy out they looked to be over the last few weeks. b-diddy 04-02-2008, 11:23 PM incidentally, what about a dirk for jermaine oneal and danny granger swap this summer? Timone 04-02-2008, 11:24 PM I don't know, I don't see that happening (even though I like Granger, which is irrelevant because I'm not a Mavs fan). Timone 04-02-2008, 11:24 PM or the shock? A Laimbeer/Mahorn/Isiah coached Shock team would be interesting. Hell, it might make me consider watching more women's ball. Philly is on their heels and gets to play them at home in 2 weeks. b-diddy 04-05-2008, 06:17 PM bron is playing with back spasms. most guys playing with back spasms 'look worn down'. Zekyl 04-06-2008, 11:34 AM I'm OK with them dropping from 4th to 5th. Kstat 04-12-2008, 09:43 PM Atlanta losing to boston's bench opens the door for indy, and they go out and lose at home to charlotte. One more atlanta win/pacer loss means atlanta goes to the playoffs. Kstat 04-12-2008, 09:43 PM kinda crazy that we only have 4 days left in the season, and we don't have a single playoff series locked in yet. Black Dynamite 04-14-2008, 09:23 AM The Spurs could have used some more Spanish in their lineup. Their star from Argentina, Manu Ginobili, sat out with what the team called a strained left abductor. In addition, Brent Barry and Robert Horry missed the game with injuries. Lakers beat the spurs sans 3 players. Be interesting to see how it all plays out come playoffs. Kstat 04-14-2008, 09:30 AM except neither barry nor horry will be healthy come playoff time either. Glenn 04-14-2008, 09:37 AM Their players miss games because they are old and broken. Barry will, Horry may not, though i think thats lip service by poppovich. And Flopu "bald spot"Ginobli is easily their second best player and best perimeter scorer. Penciled in that loss as soon as he was sat out. Kstat 04-14-2008, 06:38 PM Barry will, Horry may not, though i think thats lip service by poppovich. And Flopu "bald spot"Ginobli is easily their second best player and best perimeter scorer. Penciled in that loss as soon as he was sat out. Manu was their BEST player this year. He won a lot of games that Duncan was unable to. Unfortunately, that reflects as much on him as it does both parker and Duncan performing below their standards. And Barry i just don't expect anything out of. He can't sit out 2 months and return playoff-ready. He wasn't doing them any good when he WAS playing. Black Dynamite 04-14-2008, 06:56 PM Brent Barry is a guy with playoff experience, you're exaggerating as if he's fom another team and was literally sitting around eating cupcakes all day. He knows the scheme and shouldnt be too far behind physically in the playoffs if he's kept himself in shape. Maybe he's no help though, hard to say yet. Manu has played great this season but I think the spurs are suffering from regular season boredom honestly. Either way my point was that the lakers beat up on a team w/o one of its best players. Kudos. Not really saying much about if they meet in the playoffs imo. Kstat 04-14-2008, 10:30 PM Ramone Sessions had 20 points, 24 assists (franchise record) and 8 rebounds. That said, his team lost 151-132 to Chicago. Given that, it's hard to respect the kid for being in the record books ahead of Oscar freaking Robertson. They spent the whole 2nd half just trying to pad his assist total. I think the kid had a great night, but they weren't trying to win the game, just set a record. Timone 04-14-2008, 10:36 PM 24 assists...what is that, second all time? Third? Kstat 04-14-2008, 10:56 PM thankfully, it isn't even top 10. Guys like Zeke, Stockton and Magic have had better games, among others. It isn't even a rookie record. Nate McMillan had 25 in a game his first year. Timone 04-14-2008, 10:57 PM Really? Wow, I would've figured it was at least close to being top 5. Kstat 04-14-2008, 11:02 PM The top 5 all have at least 28 assists each. Timone 04-14-2008, 11:09 PM Regarding that Cavs-Sixers game: what a way to end what looked like a good game. Wilfredo Ledezma 04-14-2008, 11:14 PM didn't scott skiles have 30 assists in one game??? Kstat 04-14-2008, 11:18 PM didn't scott skiles have 30 assists in one game??? Yep. He's the title holder. Kevin porter is 1 back with 29, and Cousy, Stockton and Guy Rodgers round out the top 5 with 28 each. Timone 04-14-2008, 11:18 PM Yeah, Skiles owns the record. Glenn 04-15-2008, 11:19 AM http://cw2.trb.com/news/kwgn-anthony-dui-special-treatment,0,4477572.story Police investigate preferential treatment in Anthony DUI case Denver cops reportedly took Nuggets star to a hotel and then drove his car to city-owned police lot by Ginger Delgado, News2 April 14, 2008 DENVER (KWGN) — The Denver Police Department has launched an investigation into whether several of its officers gave preferential treatment to Denver Nugget player Carmelo Anthony during his arrest, News2 has learned. The basketball star was arrested early Monday morning on suspicion of DUI, just hours after his worst game of the season. The arrest happened around 4:00 a.m., just hours after the Denver Nuggets beat the Houston Rockets. Denver Police said Anthony was driving southbound on Interstate 25 near 20th Street. Anthony was reportedly alone at the time and swerving through traffic with his high-beam headlights on. A DUI traffic officer who responded first, but when Anthony became belligerent, that officer called his sergeant. Anthony was then handcuffed and taken to Denver Health Medical Center where he submitted to a blood test. That's when police called Anthony's fiancee to pick him up. The law states when you're arrested for DUI in Denver, you're either taken to Detox or released to a sober, responsible party. Anthony's fiancee refused to come get him, leaving police with only one choice -- take Anthony to Detox. Instead, the sergeant who responded personally took Anthony in his police car to the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in downtown Denver, were Anthony and his fiancee were staying. Denver Police Spokesperson Sonny Jackson defended the officer's actions, saying, "The fact is, Anthony was charged with a crime. He went through all procedures he was supposed to go through by the letter of the law. If that sergeant decided to go above and beyond through a personal relationship, that's his decision. I can't say there was anything wrong in the officer's actions." In addition to the Sergeant driving Anthony to his hotel, another officer drove Anthony's $130,000 silver Mercedes to a parking lot at the Denver Police Traffic Operations Bureau until he could pick it up later in the day. Typically, the arresting officer would tow a car involved in a DUI case to an impound yard or drive it to a safe, but neutral location. "While it may appear strange, the bottom line is, I'm not answering questions as to why his car was vandalized because we put it in an unsafe place where it could be," said Jackson. Denver Police say they stand by their decisions even though some believe Anthony may have received special treatment. Jackson said, "Perceptions are everything, and I understand that. People perceive a lot of things. Ultimately, I'd rather answer questions about perceptions than why a car got vandalized." In the meantime, Anthony is awaiting his blood test results to determine if he will, in fact, be charged with DUI. He did release a statement saying he regrets putting himself in this situation and he apologizes to his fans, the community and his teammates. Report: Nelson says sitting Davis was reaction to poor play ESPN.com news services Updated: April 16, 2008, 10:06 AM ET It's a question that's perplexing Golden State Warriors fans: Why did coach Don Nelson sit Baron Davis for the second half of a game the Warriors needed to win to stay alive in the Western Conference race -- a game Golden State lost, eliminating the team from the playoffs? Nelson said the explanation was "real simple," according to the San Francisco Chronicle. "He was having a bad game. He was terrible," Nelson said of Davis, according to the Chronicle. "He was the worst player on the floor, and I told him to take the second half off. He was 2-for-13, we were down 14 points. "I said, 'Hey, let's relax and play some young guys.'" The Warriors, down 71-57 to the Suns at halftime, stormed back with a 38-19 third quarter to take the lead with Davis on the bench. But they could not hold on down the stretch as the Suns won 122-116, assuring there won't be a repeat of Golden State's stunning series win as a No. 8 seed in this year's playoffs. Davis, for his part, has said very little about his benching in the second half. "Ain't your story" is all he said to reporters after the game, and in a blog entry on his Web site, he offered little more insight. "I hate losing," Davis wrote. "I play this game to win, and it's even harder when I feel like I wasn't able to help my team do that." But Nelson said there's not a personal rift between himself and Davis, despite the benching. "There's no problem between Baron and [me]," Nelson said, according to the report. "He's probably upset because he played terrible." Davis' agent, however, is still looking for answers. "The same questions that you have are the same questions that I have," Ramasar said Tuesday, according to the Chronicle."Why wasn't Baron on the floor? Was there an injury, argument, questions, whatever? I've asked the same things. "There was no injury. Nothing was said. It was a coach's decision, which is odd ... with so much that hinged on [Monday] night's game," he said, according to the report. "Obviously, [Baron] wanted to be in there playing. He's asking himself why he wasn't in the game. But it was a coach's decision." Davis can opt out of the final year of his contract, which would pay him $17.2 million. But Ramasar said that is unlikely, because there are no teams with enough salary cap room to pay Davis that kind of money. Glenn 04-17-2008, 09:59 AM --Scott Skiles could have a deal in place with the Milwaukee Bucks by next week, according to the New York Daily News --Avery Johnson in danger? --Marc Iavaroni will be stunned if he's not retained after this season --Baron Davis wants to return to the Warriors MoTown 04-17-2008, 10:05 AM --Avery Johnson in danger? I'll take him. Upgrade... Glenn 04-17-2008, 10:09 AM Apparently, he and Cubes got into a nasty public yelling match recently. I still think that the Spurs would be right there waiting for him if he gets fired. Much like Richard Marx would be. Fool 04-17-2008, 10:10 AM I still think that the Spurs would be right there waiting for him if he gets fired. What? You've got some weird ideas about the Spurs. MoTown 04-17-2008, 10:14 AM I hope they fire Pops so they can get Avery. Then we can get Pops. Upgrade... Glenn 04-17-2008, 10:16 AM What? You've got some weird ideas about the Spurs. Pop goes back to the front office and the Little General takes over the reigns, with his jersey hanging in the rafters. What is so weird about that? Glenn 04-17-2008, 10:20 AM Don't let Richard Marx throw off your game, Fool. MoTown 04-17-2008, 10:22 AM I'd take Richard Marx. Upgrade... Timone 04-17-2008, 10:23 AM Pop comes to Detroit and the Little General takes over the reigns, with his jersey hanging in the rafters. What is so weird about that? Nothing. I'd love it! But I agree with Fool, you really have an odd obsession with the Spurs! Glenn 04-17-2008, 10:30 AM Since when is having an opinion the same thing as an obsession? I pretty much hate them just like I hate the Pacers, the Heat, the Knicks, etc. Fool 04-17-2008, 10:35 AM Why would Pop want less control of the team? The guy already runs them in all facets? It's not like he pulled a McHale and begrudgingly took the position after making an impulsive and stupid move to fire a good coach. He saw he could draft the greatest PF to play the game and axed the coach so he could make sure the player was used right. Has Pop ever commented that he was tired of coaching? Glenn 04-17-2008, 10:36 AM If memory serves, he kind of did take over begrudgingly (or at least made it seem that way). Why don't you look that up for me? Timone 04-17-2008, 10:38 AM Since when is having an opinion the same thing as an obsession? I pretty much hate them just like I hate the Pacers, the Heat, the Knicks, etc. Come on man, those teams suck. They don't need you hating on them! Fool 04-17-2008, 10:39 AM I don't need to. He damn near ran Hill over with his car to get him out of the way. Glenn 04-17-2008, 10:40 AM And this made me LOL (seriously). If Pat Riley felt the same way, what would we be saying about him? He saw he could draft the greatest PF to play the game and axed the coach so he could make sure the player was used right. Do you think he was maybe being opportunistic? Naw, not Pop! Fool 04-17-2008, 10:51 AM He was being completely opportunistic which is why he sat Robinson that whole season instead of seeing if the guy could honestly come back from his injury that year. It was a total tank year to get the draft position. You think he's going to stop cashing in on his move just because the tiny Nepoleon gets canned for the Mavs being soft even with Jason Kidd? Glenn 04-17-2008, 10:58 AM He's getting old and maybe he is sick of traveling? If he is as smart as he'd like everyone to think, then he's got a succession plan in mind. I don't think it's implausible at all. Fool 04-17-2008, 10:59 AM For his team, I agree. For himself, what's the need right now? Zekyl 04-17-2008, 12:56 PM the Little General takes over :little tony:? Timone 04-17-2008, 12:57 PM LOL, Zek's on a roll. He just might crack the top 5 this week. Zekyl 04-17-2008, 12:57 PM If Avery gets axed, I want us making a strong push for him behind the scenes. I'd love to have him as our coach. Zekyl 04-17-2008, 12:58 PM LOL, Zek's on a roll. He just might crack the top 5 this week. As if Kelsey's phone number wasn't enough. MoTown 04-17-2008, 12:59 PM I hate to sound like an idiot, but someone's going to have to explain "little tony" and what that picture is. Thnx in advance. Zekyl 04-17-2008, 01:02 PM The picture is a zoomed in picture of tony parker's penis while he was in the ocean with his wife. Its his "little tony". MoTown 04-17-2008, 01:04 PM And now I'm informed... ZEK 4 MVP! Glenn 04-18-2008, 04:38 PM "Paxson's list is long and contains some of the usual suspects such as veteran coaches Rick Carlisle and Jeff Van Gundy. It contains some intriguing assistants such as Tom Thibodeau and Michael Curry. It contains some lesser-name former coaches such as Paul Westphal and Dwane Casey." Kstat 04-19-2008, 01:42 AM If Avery gets axed, I want us making a strong push for him behind the scenes. I'd love to have him as our coach. The playoff coach with a record for underachieving even worse than Flip Saunders. Awesome. Flip gets to 2 conference finals and that's somehow worse than a guy that loses in the first round to a #8 seed. Zekyl 04-19-2008, 10:58 AM Brought his team to the championship a year before that. Has Flip brought us to a championship? Eastern Conference championship doesn't count. Repeatedly making it to the ECF and having a fat dump taken on your team is the equivalent of ALMOST making the honor roll in special ed. Uncle Mxy 04-19-2008, 03:44 PM That #8 seed embarrassed us twice last year. Kstat 04-19-2008, 08:28 PM Brought his team to the championship a year before that. Has Flip brought us to a championship? Eastern Conference championship doesn't count. Repeatedly making it to the ECF and having a fat dump taken on your team is the equivalent of ALMOST making the honor roll in special ed. So what does losing to a #8 seed get you? Fool 04-19-2008, 08:30 PM Jason Kidd apparently. Glenn 04-21-2008, 03:23 PM :sas: vs. Chris Bosh http://www.thestar.com/article/416349 http://stephenablog.typepad.com/stephen_a_smith/2008/04/april-19-though.html Big Swami 04-24-2008, 08:51 AM For future reference: Jalen Rose has it all. He speaks English about as well as those guys hanging around outside Home Depot, and he makes sense about as often as Kenny. It's not often you get a guy on TV (even sports TV) who is such a bad speaker that you honestly have no idea what he's trying to say. It's like the guy took diction lessons from Rudy Ray Moore. Zekyl 04-24-2008, 08:53 AM The best part is, if he were to ever read that, he wouldn't understand it. He doesn't know words like "dictation". He'd think you're making a cock joke. Glenn 04-24-2008, 08:55 AM Man, I must be weird, I really like Jalen on TV. The SAS/Jalen team is really entertaining, IMO. Zekyl 04-24-2008, 09:08 AM Entertaining, yes. Quality, no. Glenn 04-24-2008, 09:10 AM Entertaining, yes. Quality, no. Almost everything that I do, I do to be entertained. MoTown 04-24-2008, 09:58 AM I guess that explains why you like Flip Murray. Glenn 04-24-2008, 10:00 AM I guess that explains why you like Flip Murray. No, but it explains why I pretend to like him, though. Zekyl 04-24-2008, 11:28 AM How dare you correct a man that has 20x the posts you have! MoTown 04-24-2008, 12:21 PM You damn right. Zek kills "ballboys." Zekyl 04-24-2008, 01:41 PM No worries, Mo. I've got your back. Big Swami 04-25-2008, 02:12 PM Write it down now: Skiles to Milwaukee, Carlisle to Chicago. Zekyl 04-25-2008, 02:47 PM Write it down now: Skiles to Milwaukee, Carlisle to Chicago. This is how I write it down. Uncle Mxy 04-25-2008, 05:00 PM Write it down now: Skiles to Milwaukee, Carlisle to Chicago. Wrong move for both teams. Glenn 04-26-2008, 09:24 AM In case you missed it, Josh Howard was on The Michael Irvin radio show yesterday and admitted that he smokes dope. A shocker, I know, but apparently Cuban, the Mavs organization and a lot of fans are not happy at all with him.
